- The Xiaomi 14 Ultra continues the series' trend of bringing the ultimate camera hardware. This year the main camera uses the new Sony LYT-900 sensor with a variable aperture between f/1.6 to f/4.0. The other three cameras all use Sony IMX858 sensors with fast aperture and large-ish sensors. There is of course the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and fast charging.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also includes a photography kit that adds a camera handle and dedicated shutter button the setup.

Great Vid as always, love the idea of the camera kit, soooooo gutted you can't get one for the Vivo, makes for a hard choice, the filter thread, is a fantastic idea, it makes this phone a real option for photographers , slap a polariser and a grad on there and away you go, familiar DSLR like controls in Pro mode and extra battery life , half press to fucus, a great alternative to taking your gear on a break without fiddling with a phone thats to slim and slipper to take shots with 07

That movie mode or the portrait video is dope bro. It looks so good with the movie like aspect ratio and if you apply the classic movies filters, its gonna be fit for making short budget movies. Cool. However, the 10x zoom photo of the structure looked more detailed on the iphone photo, i dont know why but Iphones have a tendency to bring out more definitions from any picture. Like the dirt marks, grains on floors etc. may be that's just it. Anyways great camera system from xiaomi. Hope it gets as many sales as galaxy s24 ultra for zoom lovers. Again that portrait video was epic.

1:49 I love the concept of the zoom dial on the Xiaomi photography kit. Plus I love the concept of the remote controlling capability of the Xiaomi photography kit. And lastly I love the built-in battery and the reversable charging capabilities on the very photography kit. 8:19 I'm impress to see the Movie mode and the LUT filters they look like fun features to use.

I'm more curious where you got your LUT's because the default one (atleast on my Xiaomi 13 Pro) is only the rec.709 one. Otherwise, great first look and pretty in-depth for a quick camera review with its features.

Great video as always! In the next video where you test camera in more details can you please check how pro mode compares between Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro? Most of phones on the market are not able to generate full resolution RAW files as Samsung does via their Expert Raw app. As this phone is targeting photography enthusiast it would be good to know if it can produce high resolution RAW files.

I loved the video, Ben!! ❤ Could you please compare the Xiaomi 14 Ultra against the Oppo Find X7 Ultra and the OnePlus 12? I’m considering between these phones which will be my next phone.
What I've been doing on my 13 ultra is just taking 50mp pictures in the pro mode then adding a portrait effect through their galleries editor that way I can get full resolution shots, and the large sensor is giving the software good depth to work with already.
Once you crank any of the effects to the max you'll see stitching issues sometimes, but mostly I haven't had an issue with it.
Question @bensgadgetreviews, how much better is this phone over the 14pro. I just got my 14pro and running EU rom and love it. But is it worth upgrading to the 14 ultra ?

Got mine 2 weeks ago and i love it. For 899usd its sick. S24 ultra 1600 usd and im happy i bought 14ulta instead. Agree portreit mode is soft but i use noemal mode hope they uppdate it in future

Base on this and many other reviews, seems like 14u have some soft focus issues on tele. The LYTIA-900 also doesn't seems to perform significant better than the older 1".

Thanks Ben, as usual another excellent hands on review. I must admit, I am concerned, just having ordered the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The quality of photos taken on the Vivo X100 Pro appear, at least to me, to have better clarity, more detail and superior focus. Just look at the images of the dog at around 1.35 mins. On paper, the Xiaomi has better optics and of course the camera kit. However, it looks like there needs to be some serious software updates for the 14 Ultra, before it comes close to the still shots taken on the Vivo 100 Pro.
There's motion capture for moving objects which when turned on renders pretty good results.I think he didn't turn it on here.
@@njamutohbertrand9318 Hi, I am not sure if that is the case. Could be, but Ben has proven he knows what he is doing countless times. To me, it seems like the Xiaomi has a too narrow depth of field/focus and this could be the problem. It is fixable via software updates, at least as a recent purchaser of the 14 Ultra, I hope so..
if you look closely the 14 ultra was focused on the pants and not the dog, hence the slightly blurry photo
xiaomi 14 ultra have ultra The professional mode of Xiaomi Mi 14 ultra’s camera has a 16-bit ultraraw mode. You actually said that x100 is better. I think you have never tested the ultraraw mode of 14u. Moreover, that mode is said to be raw exposure bracketing, with extremely high resolution and tolerance. Spend. Go back and play with your phone. Moreover, Xiaomi’s ultraraw supports the workflow of lightroom on mobile phones and PCs.
If you are a photographer, you know what it means that ultraraw mode supports 16-bit color and raw exposure bracketing. In some professional photographers’ mobile phone test videos, they have compared it with the raw format shot by Sony’s a7m4, and the raw format of x100 It’s just a toy. If you need a video link, I can provide it. I just think you don’t understand the biggest advantage of xiaomi14 ultra.
I think this might be the best camera phone in 2024. Gosh! I'm still on the 12 pro currently, so I guess I might be getting this sometime next year.
Hey Ben, what is the difference between the camera software of the global and the Chinese rom? Is it the same? I am leaning towards the China version because of the 5300 vs 5000mah battery size as well as the satellite communication capabilities. Which leads me to my 2nd question. Would one be able to use the satellite communication anywhere else besides China? I don't know if the global rom vs the China rom would yield any difference in colour science or camera software tweaks.
TechTablet's video on this phone was concerning when regarding the camera, but now your video and Velian Speaks Tech showed that it is actually quite a capable shooter, minus the improvements needed to portraits. I was skeptical, but I slowly starting to want this phone even more now. I like the Vivo, but i dislike it's 2019 design (looks like my Huawei P30 Pro) and Funtouch. The x100 Ultra will probably be China only, which doesn't help me in Canada. This may be it...

Cool one bro.. but like Sony's world beating Eye focus and Autofocus, does this one have it ? Also, the burst mode on SONY allows u to capture the pets and kids in every motion.. clear pictures.. how is it with this one ? The Burst mode and clarity i mean.. Ur Dad's support was awesome 👌

What do you think about the oppos bigger telephoto sensors vs the wider aperture of the Xiaomi? seems like the faster lens provides better results vs having a slightly bigger sensor

Do all lenses on the ultra use the same multi lens engine to match colour between the lenses like the regular 14 does?
It's the Vivo X100 Pro for me. A pretty much stunning shooter. Some minor notes though. In nighttime mode the shots can look a little blue,. So, provided you tone down the blue tone in that specific scenario you get exceptional results.

You mention the periscope zoom is f2.5 aperture which is much brighter than the periscope zoom lens on the find X7 ultra but the find X7 ultra has two periscopes with the 2.8x one having an f2.6 aperture but a hugely larger sensor than the Xiaomi 14 ultra. On paper Oppo's short range zoom should be a bit better but Xiaomi will have the advantage for longer range zoom in weaker light. Oppo though has 6x versus 5x in Xiaomi so in good light outdoors the longer zoom range could still be an advantage. Anyway, I'd say overall the hardware is around the same level as Oppo also has a significantly better ultrawide sensor. The Vivo x100 pro hardware is slightly weaker but they have their own V3 ISP and it's also significantly cheaper than the other two, especially the Xiaomi 14 ultra which is the most expensive of the 3. Look forward to a future camera comparison to see how the hardware translates into real life performance
