I was on the fence for a year about the L6 Helix, this vid cemented the deal. My pocket is about to be $1,500 lighter! Seriously bro, you made it look so easy to dial in the snapshots, and they sound amazing. Great job! Time to dive into my GT-6 to try and get my sounds as close as possible. Playing this for the first time at my church tomorrow.
@@AlexStrabala Right on! I'll subscribe for sure and check them out. But so much for writing my patches tonight on my GT6. I left my power supply at church Thursday. Looks like I'm getting there an hour before sound check!!
I really like the guitar parts you're playing on the bridge. To me, considering you're using one guitar, and I am pretty sure Elevation uses two guitarists to get that sound on the record, that's pretty close. Props!
I use my 1/4” Helix headphone into a personal monitor mixer into my earbuds. There is a reoccurring dropout in signal strength where I loose signal strength in my ears. Its weird because at set up, my ears sound great. About fifteen minutes into a rehearsal the signal drops out. When try to dial in more signal at the Helix my earbuds clip. i have tried various Global Line & Instrument settings with no resolve. Any ideas? Trying to protect what remains of the hearing I have left.
Hey man, got the Helix used it at church for the first time this weekend... so stoked on it! What are your thoughts/methods on chosing Ch1 vs Ch2 on the Matchstick?
ttwwiinnss if you were just starting frankly I would not even bother with amps and pedals. You can get your Sweetwater rep to give you 10% off a Helix LT which comes out to $899 shipped. It's impossible to build an amp and pedals rig for that price if you want any kind of quality or versatility. With Helix LT you have access to tons of high quality amps, pedals, effects, etc, all in one 12lb $899 package, with no loud cabs to lug and put backstage, no tubes to fail and replace, etc. Helix replaced over $8000 worth of gear for me in October 2016 and I will never go back to amps and pedals. As you can see from my videos, great tones are frankly easy to dial in. If you aren't very experienced with dialing in tones, you can download some of my go-to presets from my website.
The biggest problem though is that I don't have $800 to spend on guitar stuff, and at most maybe $500. I want to know if that would even be remotely worth it at this point
I would continue to save. IMO it's not worth it to buy cheap stuff that will sound muddy. Just save up and get something great that you won't want to upgrade later. Use whatever guitar you have now, save up $899 for Helix LT, then save up for an American Standard Tele which you can get on craigslist for $800 easily.
ttwwiinnss or just buy a used Vox ToneLab for under $200 (seen them for $75). Great tones, works well going direct and your audience won't know the difference.
Hello! Just starting using Helix vs Mondo PB and amp at WCCC Illinois. You preset sounds great. Where do you place the volume pedal block and do you use it globally? Thanks
Volume pedal is after the amp+cab. I have exp1 position set to global in the global settings. That way I can switch presets freely without worrying about volume since I have a volume pedal assigned to exp1 on all my presets.
I appreciate the innovative use of delay, reverb, even overdrive when worship dynamics build authentically to point it doesn't detract from the person of Jesus,, I don't understand why guitarists are using compression as it only takes away the sensitivity of the guitar, and DECREASES ability to use dynamics-- ?Whats the point ?
compression on the front end of a guitar signal affects the transients and therefore how the signal hits your drives and amp. Also, if you turn up the level of the compressor to compensate you can get some much stronger sustain, especially from single coils. For an extreme example, listen to the attack of the clean guitars on bethel's Have It All album. I primarily use a lot of compression on cleans, and these days I have a footswitch set up that rolls back the mix of the compressor when I turn up the amp drive.
I love that wood grain on your guitar! and the tip about input gate for Tele's is JUST WHAT I NEEDED. You're the man!
WOW Alex. You are truly a Helix wizard. Great ear and playing!

Kenn Bartlett nice! If you have time, some of my newer videos, my tones are better now as I’ve learned more about the unit!

The best helix worship tutorial I've seen!
Marcelo Lagos thanks!
So good.
Nope. A buddy had one and I'm not a fan. But Alex makes his sound very, very good! :)
Guitar for HIS Glory how bout now?

Wow, this sounds so good.
thank you!
good job getting the right tones
Sounds fantastic! What kind of guitar are you using?
staypuff54 thanks! That is a Veritas Texas Miracle. Basically it's a really nice tele.
Yikes !!! almost 3 grand
Please, can you do Here In The Presence
Finally finished my video for Here In The Presence! Lots of great parts in that song! Hope you like it! ruclips.net/video/SyN2VOphirU/видео.html
Hey man, got the Helix used it at church for the first time this weekend... so stoked on it! What are your thoughts/methods on chosing Ch1 vs Ch2 on the Matchstick?
Marc Tempesta glad you're enjoying them. Both matchless channels are great, but I slightly prefer the Channel 2.
This was amazing lol.
dude super tasty. What guitar are you playing through
Thanks! It's a Veritas Texas Miracle African Series.
Are you using Helix Edit in this video? Or the software thing you have to pay for?
This is the editor controlling my Helix Floor.
Hi Alex, what guitar are you using?
Roberto Alejandro Nievas Veritas Texas miracle
Nice
How much do you think should be the minimum amount of money I put into making a pedal board?

I disagree....if you are serious about being a guitarist for the rest of your life real pedals and tube amps are the only way to go.

How do you control the volume??? With the guitar knob?
I have a volume pedal block on all my presets. Guitar volume knob cleans up the overdrive.

what's the difference between a mono and stereo delay?
a stereo delay moves back and forth a bit whereas a mono delay is identical in both L and R
Thanks bro!
what do you prefer ? stereo or mono delays on the Helix?
Where are you churching?
Carlos Torres CentralOnline.tv
What are you using for monitoring? In house and in church
Josué Aguilar at home I use my IEMs or my JBL LSR305 monitors. When I'm playing live I use my IEMs.
Awesome! ;)
Do you always use stock cabs, or do you also use IR's?
George Seth stock cabs. Haven’t found the need for IRs.

@@AlexStrabala well thats exactly opposite of what I thought. Makes sense.
