There is a much better way to move the last and the first clone. Deactivate "Loop" in the Cloner object and use the "Start" and "End" sliders. That way you don't have to change the spline.
I remember your Paper City Speed Art. My Girlfriend and I were watching it in Super Slow Motion to figure out how you did stuff, so thanks for this Tutorial (and hopefully more). You have a very clean and straight way of explaining and a good tempo to follow. Thanks for your efforts. Please continue :)
Awesome tutorial, I've been learning about separate parts of C4D, this tutorial really helped me understand to use tools together to model a scene, thanks! :D
hello thank you for this well detailed tutorial, I have a little problem at 5mn05, I don't see the create a unique object tab on the attributes of the controlled extrusion
I think it will also work without "create single object" being checked. Worst case you end up with 3 different parts, then you can select all of them > right click on 1 of them > "connect objects & delete"
Those working in the new version will be facing the issue with the bridge so to fix that... Subdivision Surface > Connect.. put sweep under connect then make it editable(worked for me) Hopefully this will help :)
@@GlennRegister the section from where you create Boole object you will find "Connect"(below the Boole option). Just make a connect object & then drag the sweep object (i.e the bridge thing which includes the rectangle & the spline) under the connect object.. this will make it a single object..then you can convert that connect to editable object.. from their you can follow the tutorial. I think this will clear your doubts.. :)
Very good tutorial but I'm having problems with the bevel on the bridge It seems like the polygons aren't preserving the groups anymore I'm using R21 and if you know a solution I would love to know
If you mean the part at 6:24 then you may have to double check the 'Polygon extrusion' settings in the Bevel options at the bottom right. Alternatively you can just have the polygons selected and use the Inner extrude tool to get a smaller inner group of polygons. Then move that new selection down a bit. Same result.
You can skip that part and after you turn it editable you can just right click on the sweep object > select children > right click again > connect objects + delete Maybe it's not even needed in the version you're using, not sure.
Quick question, at 5:04 you "Create Single Object". I seem to be missing some of those settings he has, and I am fairly new to C4D if anybody could help me out!
@@drobot2986 You can just skip that part until you make the sweep editable. Probably gives you 3 objects (main shape + 2 caps). So select the 3 objects in the objects list > right click > "Connect objects & delete"
Wow that is such a great tutorial with many technics you can you for what ever you want :) but im having an annoying problem with texturing, it looks just crab with the materials i create how could that be? Is there a maximum of colors, saturation and brightness i should choose for a perfect result? Many thanks
Thank you :) About you color problem... it all really depends on what you're making. But most of the time you want to stay to somewhere at the middle right side of the big color selection "square"/field. Avoid mixing grey (left side in square) in your bright colors, and also fluorescent colors (top right in the square) often don't work well. If you need more help it would be easy if you could add an image with it so I can see what is wrong.
Twistereli wow thanks For your quick and Long answer :) will definitely try this tips out tomorrow. Maybe i can model a small scene and send you the renderer on Skype or Twitter? Would be really helpful. It is so frustrating when your scene Looks better without textures than it does with :D
Hey, great tutorial, but i seem to have something set wrong, because when i try to scale polygon as in 7:01, it just bends inside. Do you know how to fix it ?
Thank you so much for the tutorial !! There is one problem I just ran into into : I can’t get the bridge done(5:38) , when I select the whole face (control + a ) then hit D for extrusion, both object’s faces are extruding. They are not acting like the one in your tutorial where only one side of the face is extruding .
Thank you for the help, it didnt work . when i converted the sweep objects into the single object by pressing "C" , the normals were already aligned perfectly even before i use "aligne normals"(this is probably where the issues started but still dont know why it behaved this way ). When began to extrude , it extruded both sides of the faces( up and down) even when i checked "preserve groups".
@@eliprenten7066 Yes ! im using R21 now. They fixed the bad flipped normals but it also made it difficult to follow your mothod, guess i will have to figure out my way around it . thanks for replying !

You're looking for CTRL + D, sorry for my unclear pronunciation lol. It is just to make all objects white, but you shouldn't worry about that. Just continue from 14:16 if you don't get it to work.
You're probably in another version than Studio. My advice: You can just skip that part until you make the sweep editable. Probably gives you 3 objects (main shape + 2 caps). Surprising that there isn't much content on this topic for such a popular tool as Maya. I have no idea about the process there, I guess it's a little less efficient. But I'm pretty sure you can export this scene as a .obj file in C4D, which should work in Maya.
Thanks for the reply :). But Maya uses different renderer (vray/Arnold/mental ray etc) instead 4d cinema's default renderer. So can this effect be achieved in any renderer?

Hi! Almost there, its written as "Eli". Hence the Twister"Eli". I'm happy to hear you liked my video, but I'm not sure what you mean with your question. If you want to use parts like the trees or bridge in another scene... you can just select them, then copy (ctrl+C) and paste (ctrl+V) them to your other scene. Switching between scenes is easy, at the top menu choose "Window" and there you can see the scenes that are currently opened. Hope this answers your question!
If you replicate it yourself in C4D, why not? :) But I recommend making it clear it isn't exactly yours, just so people don't accuse you for being a copycat.
I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work either. If you're working with big dimensions, click & dragging doesn't make much of a visual difference. You can enter a large value at the right side and see if that helps.
