I appreciate the Visma team approach that Wout mentioned in an interview. Not a manic effort with a single focus like many other teams but a holistic one with multiple expertise and levels of effort keeping all riders happy and engaged
Vuelta is over and it’s still heartbreaking that he was hurt and had to leave. Hope Wout is recovering well and that we can leave all of this year’s bad luck in the past.

This is absolutely with NO disrespect to anyone. I'm just amazed how different ways may lead to winning. WvA with his lovely wife and two children and his said to be biggest opponent MvdP driving a retro Porsche on holidays (and preparing) for wordls with his partner. BOTH of these ways seem to work which is great.
Obviously me being Wout's fan I'll cheer for him in the worlds even though it looks to be a cliber's course this year.
Different people different lifestyles
Much better suited to Remco. My feeling is that Wout will try to stay with MVDP, and Remco and Pogacar will go head-to-head.
I've been thinking about this too. And Remco...he has an interesting routine as well. All different, all great riders!

I really like Wout. And he’s probably one of the most versatile riders ever. To win on mt ventoux, the itt and the final sprint stage in the TDF in one year and also be able to compete in the classics is an amazing accomplishment. Sad he couldn’t finish the vuelta since he was on track to win green and mountains jersey another very rare feat in today’s peloton. But seems to make a lot of errors in bike handling despite being an amazing cyclocross rider as well and gets caught up in a lot of crashes keeping him out of big races. Some very avoidable like the vuelta. He also does genuinely seem to have some bad luck. Good luck in 2025 - like to see him get that win in Flanders or Roubaix

It seems that only now wva is back to full powers.
That means this time was an x long time to heal his body. He was v hurt, he stayed w it, he came back
Perhaps 3d week he will not try to win-worlds coming up, be fresh there, cd win road and tt both there
Let’s remember that most of the great riders are not here. Thstvthe vuelta is the least competitive of the gts.
Soon the worlds. They really matter, as do the tour and the monuments. I hope to see wva winning stages again at the tour, winning monuments, winning worlds.
The q is- he’s family man. Is he as hungry now as he was 4 yrs ago? He is winning here at vuelta but vuelta wins do not mean he is back at the very top of cycling. 40% of vuelta riders don’t even want to be at the race, the team orders them to be there. It’s already been an x long season for these riders, esp oly year. They are tired, they want to be home.
Let’s see what wva does at worlds. That’s the real proof. I hope he wins there.
