I remember doing the quest chain that lead up to defeating the Shade of Arugal with my friends, and when we can't fight him, a passing max level player helped us defeat him. I still remember him saying, 'Well, have you fought the bear guy?' then dragged us across the zone to do the quest chain to kill him. Then there's the quest where you throw stones from above. That's also fun.
I wish I could be that max level guy with last tier of normal gears set. That's what make me loved playing WoW in my freetime while waiting for a que. Too bad last time I'd met my friends like this is just before covid become a pandemic. I never saw them online again.

Worth mentioning that in the Horde base and during the Krenna/Gorgonna questline, we also meet Nazgrim who at the time was a simple sergeant and from there becomes one of the best and most beloved Horde character in the game as we know
I played this game for 15+ years. I played through all of Wotlk. Grizzly Hills is also my favorite zone. I NEVER KNEW ABOUT THE LOG RIDE WTF WHAT IS THAT WHERE IS IT COMING FROM WHY DID I NEVER HEARD OF IT HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE ?!
It will always blow my mind that Grizzly Hills is one of the most beloved zones in the game, can be accurately described as "Pretty Fantasy Forest" and they've just... chosen not to do that again. Ever. Grizzly Hills is comfy and awesome BECAUSE it doesn't have Satan's massive butthole at the center of it.
@@TheWikkdOne Not even close!!!! Wotlk had more to it than just a nice music! We can hope BUT nah... wont happen! Unless they make another expansion about old world and revamp it!
I remember the days of coming back from school to boot up WoW on my dad's PC, and have a blast flying around Grizzly Hills for 3 hours straight. I was too young to do much of anything so I was just screwing around taking in the atmosphere as much as I could. It's just such a gorgeous zone, man. The music, the ambiance... my God

Nyckelharpa, that wicked instrument that sounds like a bagpipe and violin made love with one another, is among the reasons why this zone is so awesome. The alpine athmosphere and werewolf hicks always a good combi
It was a deceptively wholesome area back when I played the game. I liked visiting those Iron Dwarf ruins in that small city built into the ground, I always thought more dwarven cities should be built like that. I also liked it when I went through Drakuru's quest chain, and when I bumped into Harrison Jones in those ruins near the coast. Other than that, the area was pretty plain.
It's the nykelharpa that takes me back. The zone was pretty cool though and I would consider it core warcraft. Undead, werewolves, trolls doing troll stuff, dwarves doing dwarf stuff, druid stuff with furbolg.... awesome zone.
The best part about the amber seeds quest is when you finish retrieving them from the outhouse and turn the quest in you learn you’re not the first to eat them. The npc when you complete the quest turns to another and goes “you know what to do” and the other says “back in the bucket” and brings the seeds back to the same bucket you found them in. Your alts all eat the same seeds your mains pooped out…
Grizzly Hills is peak wow and maybe one of the best solo experiences. Heart of the journey to the Lich King and a winter locale you maybe didn't expect in the cold. Best part of best expansion of all time.
I always loved Drakuru's questline. The first time I leveled a character in Wrath, I skipped the hills and went straight to Zul'Drak because I had hit both the Tundra and the Fjord and didn't need the levels by then. On my second character, however, I started leveling in the Fjord, so I wound up being funneled right into the Grizzly Hills. When my second character ran into him in Zul'Drak after doing all his stuff in the hills and he's all "Oh you got my gift! It's so good to see you again! Here, let me have a look at you, we're going to do great things together!" that was an amazing moment. It felt real to me, not only because it was a series of quests that spanned into another zone and felt like part of a connected world, but also because THAT'S the level of recognition I loved to get in wow. None of the 'Oh it's the legendary champion of Azeroth!' but just a more down-to-earth 'Hey it's YOU! That guy who did me a solid a while back! It really is good to see you again!' I always enjoyed NPCs recognizing my character, not as a legendary hero, but just as someone who helped them out in the past.
Honestly, I wish I started reading the quests descriptions earlier in my journey in wow. I always focused on the grand epic scale story told by raids, cinematics, and trailers. But often overlooked the smaller scale stories that are often just as good if not better. Like that zone where you travel in a caravan with a dwarf a worgen woman and another dude I forgot, them wanting to become paladins or something like that. And there's this very cute and funny storyline about how the dwarf REALLY wanted to sit in the front seat with the girl, but he couldn't cuz they always kept getting new passangers (Including the player) who always sat in the front seat. Like holy shit that was so cool. Even if the quests themselves were boring as hell, cuz Blizz unfortunately did not understand that NO JUST ADDING LEVEL SCALING IS NOT ENOUGH TO FIX THE FESTIVAL OF BOREDOM THAT IS LEVELING IN WORLD OF WARCRAFT!
Totems of the Grizzlemaw has been in my wake-up-alarm playlist for like 6 or 7 years. Consistently in my Spotify yearly top songs, if not #1. Has brought tears to my eyes many times. Brings me back to some of the best times in my life with my brother. Many thanks to Russell Brower for such a beautiful song
Well I enjoy the grizzly hills, since there are plenty of quest chains: the Ursoc and emerald nightmare, the Wolf cult, the Iron dwarfes, which will continue in Storm Peaks, and, of course, the Drakuru quest chain with Scourge invading Zuldrak and Draktharon keep - one of my favourite LK dungeons. And, Platinum, in this area we firstly encounter Nazgrim, who will play a big role
When asked, "What's your favourite zone?" Grizzly Hills has always been the answer for me. Before that, I had no favourite zone. It's the music, the aesthetic, the lore... it's basically Fantasy Quebec.
Teldrassil is my number 1 with ashenvale, grizzly hill is third. i just love the calm area's and the huge trees. the music ... i can listen to those sound tracks all day long
