I don't think I've seen a RUclips video with this much artistry. The Gyotaku, your resin/wood canvas with salmon sushi and citrus caviar, the Miyagi-inspired insect capture. This video is just off the charts man. I love it. You're a special content creator and I'm glad I found you. Keep featuring artists along with yourself, as you can.
Thank you! I'm lucky I get to work and become friends with so many talented people!
"I'm gonna try and tire this this fish out."
*gets tired first*
Best collab I’ve seen so far. “Catch and Print”!
Now THIS is the true spirit of sushi. Acquiring, preparing, sharing, and enjoying with friends and family. Sharing and exploring something new, and experiencing it with newfound friends. Taku, this is some of your best work in bringing together all of this experience and good people. Dwight and his family are obviously very special people, just like you and Jocelyn. Watching him work in those challenging conditions, and watching your beautiful work with the yanagiba and chef knife, seeing the finger lime for the first time, watching it all culminate....Thank you for blessing us with this gift from the sea.
I should be editing.... Then this notification came. Tough choices 😂
we're ready for you to drop that collab sir Leif !!
WE NEED A COLLAB
Nice to see you here Leif. Two of my 3 favorite RUclipsr. Only Matts and it would be a trifecta. 😅
lol. Im stoked for the next episode of nwfs tho
Get your edit done, man! Everybody's been waiting!! 😂
Super cool that the ink is non-toxic and the fish is still edible afterwards!! That print is beautiful.
I'm hoping to make some merch with the print!
@@OutdoorChefLife I'd definitely be interested if you did, especially if it was a wall hanging or print
You should print a whole tuna😄
Merch with the print would be really cool
I swear Outdoor Chef Life's always posts when I'm about to eat. Always making me jealous haha
No matter what you're eating, he's going to eat something better, lol
LEARN ENGLISH WITH TEACHER PAUL you sound like you are single. My wife is a great cook. Sure Taku can cook better sushi but my wife makes some mean azz chicken wings. 😂
I’m always catching these vids in bed just as I’m about to crash out. Now I’m just laying here like “welp, guess I’m going to bed hungry 😩”
Cool
the slo mo with the waves crashing that's artsy shit too
I wonder how Taku feels when he sees fisherman's life filet a fish using a pocket knife on a rock
don’t sleep on matt’s dream fish burger 😂
Matt's pocket knife filet skill is pretty good so id reckon taku would be impressed
Best fish fillets for pocket knife and uneven rock cutting board 😂
#FishermansLife LOL
to this day this is still the only youtube channel i could actually watch for 40 minutes and enjoy every bit, it looks like so much fun, cheers!
Everything about this video was so beautiful but when the young boy fed his mother before serving himself, that just tied everything together for me. Beautiful
Dude, you're videography is getting SO good.
That kid's haircut is badass. Reminds me of like a traditional samurai. Really well mannered too. Hats off to the parents
100% the best episode I've ever seen. I feel like I was on entire journey, from the epic fight with the salmon, to the printing, to the amazing plating and your guest has to be my all time favourite so much charisma! wow
The slow motion when the printing of the fish an the water crashing in the background was crazy good filming
Might be my favorite video, you and Dwight are two great representatives of a part of Japanese culture. Always learning from you two, awesome video!!! Gotta have him in another video!
As a visual artist, there is something so captivating by Taku's practice that is similar to art making. Its thoughtful, beautiful and connects the viewer closer to the idea or object. much love always
The water spray from crashing waves backdrop whilst Dwight was fully focused on his art form ... that was awesome !!!
This entire video is awesome!!!!
Editing on the print scene was fire. The sync with that wave crashing 0.o
Man the serenity when your prepping on the cliff love that part!!!
That was a gorgeous Salmon. outer color, inner color, size, shape, everything about that salmon was gorgeous.
The art history segment was awesome thank you.
Really would love to see more collaborations between you two.
He seems such a great guy with a great family. You really match.
Would be a win-win-win situation!
You get your fishing and great printings, he gets to do his passion and gets some amazing food, we get great content and great vibes! ;)
Keep up the work and thanks for the video!
This is easily one of my favorite YT videos - where art is ingested as food and food is ingested as art.
You two have become my favorite chill channel. Every video is super low-key and relaxed, even when you're in the middle of a huge, dramatic fight with a salmon. It's an enjoyable journey all along the way. Keep it up.
Watching two masters of their own craft come together like this is so cool
Aw, the boy feeds his mom at 33:25 so sweet.
Love gyotaku...!! I used to teach elementary art and I did this with the kids (3rd-4th graders) and they absolutely LOVED it! I did too, this video makes me nostalgic for working with the lil tikes- nice video!
Wow 2 artists Dwight with the Gyotaku and Taku with the Salmon sushi creations! And on the beautiful beach scenery!!!! Doesn't get any better!
Such a full circle moment for me. I bought a print from Fishing For Gyotaku back in 2013. It's so exciting to see this crossover, after all those years.
Wow!!! Memories for a lifetime every time you look at the print. Half moon bay will always be with you, no matter where life takes you.
Beautiful watching the Gyotaku process with huge waves crashing on the rocks in the background. Artistry all around.
Two Beautiful art forms come together in one. Gyotaku and the art of Sushi Making. Thank you Taku, and Thank you Dwight, for Introducing the rest of the world to Gyotaku..
Beautiful how the salmon roe showed through the transparent seed part of the cucumber rolls.
Perfect catch, perfect print, perfect dish, perfect beer, good friends makes perfect video and a perfect day!
I never took myself for a music guy. But that beat rounded out that clip so well. Had the hardest day today and you manage to take this weight off my shoulders for a second taku. Thank you
Best video from Taku yet. It's just amazing watching 2 artists working on that fish each in their own style.
Loving these longer episodes. The editing just keeps getting better and better...
Cus I got the good beats 😉
Outdoor Chef Life 🤙🤙 🤙
Thanks for sharing us a new form of art gyotaku. It does look like something that can be wall art.
Taku and Jocelyn are the friends you WISHED you had! Another out of the park video.
Love the music with the waves breaking while he was printing the fish
I’m watching you guys from Portugal and I’m so jealous of you (in a good way)... we don’t have salmon in our waters and my daughter LOVES sushi, sashimi and salmon... and I’m learning from you!!! I’m crying of happiness because I can really feel that you’re enjoying it!!! That’s what I’m looking for when I cook for my daughter!!! Thank you for sharing!!! 🥰
You’re the man!! Thanks for always entertaining us and allowing us to forget the world for a bit
This is the best catch and cook channel i've seen on youtube so far. You guys do such a great job, thank you for all the hard work filming and editing.
A beautiful place to create art... a memory of a great preserved. The way you cook shows respect for the fish. Great vid as always.
This is by most far the best video of yours I ever seen. SOO, Sooo BEAUTIFUL. YOU SLAY ME SON.
The print is beautiful.
Your kayak sounds like my ceiling at night when both my parents are home.
Get yourself some binoculars and climb on the tree haha
@@gnrdp wtf
You should be thankful it was both of your parents not one of them
Lol
@@everydayeater5656 rofl!
Sweet salmon setup from the reel to the FBR. Looks awesome. Thanks for bringing us along Taku, all my favorite things!
One of your best ever! The printing with the waves crashing in the background was awesome.
At the end when Dwight knelt down I thought you were going to shovel it right into his mouth!!! I'm not sure what that says about me but I don't care, I'd do it!!! Love the video, definitely collaborate with Dwight again
Killer upload Taku, that spread looked straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥!! 🍻’s guys from Fresno 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
Major shout out to Dwight! This was a really cool educational experience guys. I’ve told my friends recently who are at UC Berkley, “I could save money in the weekends if I can catch some rock fish and monkey face eel.”
I can’t pinpoint one or two things that stood out. I can say that the catch is always awesome, but the artistry that follows was phenomenal. Dwight’s work and yours is inspirational 🙏🏻
Those shots of the guy painting the fish with the waves on the back were crazy good propsss
I almost dropped my phone when you dropped that piece of the collar!!!!
18:45 thats what its all about....👌scenic reaction from the artist!
Awesome to see people coming together with different crafts and appreciate the company of each and just enjoying a meal.
Best collaboration to date! So much joy there, truly authentic man!
This is turning into my favorite fishing channel, love the fish print, way cool!
Besides great cooking, can we just appreciate Taku's videography?
You guys sharing your artistry and enjoying it together made me smile. Good food, good drinks, and good company.....that's what life's all about. Now I gotta go find me something to eat!
“Go wide outside in outside in”
“Yep”
😂
I wish I had this energy and talent to make fresh sushi....
Or at least be friends with these guys, lol
Yay!!! I guessed it! Love it!! I’ve taught SO many classes, demos...even been invited to demo at the Frist. But never have I ever printed with such a dramatic background. ❤️ I do it almost the same, staying true to tradition except I use lemon juice to get rid of slime and I get the fins all at once. I also swipe the ink out of the eyes and fill them in later. I use baby wipes for clean hands before printing on the rice paper. Using Sumi non-toxic ink, the fish never go to waste! Thank you for show casing this art form. Your after catch footage and meal was awesome! Cant wait to see the finished print! ❤️❤️
The bit about being mad because it's so good is cute. Where I come from we say something called "galit-galitan" which means pretending to be mad, because the food is so good that no one is gonna be talking to each other until the meal is done.
Very NICE!!! I'm craving salmon now
such a warm video
Great collaboration, love the printing. Really enjoy this episode Taku!
What an awesome episode. Hope to see that picture up on your wall soon.
Thank you for coming together and making such a wholesome video! So happy to finally see a Gyotaku for Taku!
I´m from Brazil and the content you guys produce is really amazing - the fishing itself, your incredible japanese cooking skills, the joy of life. As a japanese imigrant grandson and passionate fisherman I really enjoy spend some time watching your videos. Really thanks dude!
Awesome catch and cook and Gyotaku! Dwight is a pro! Everything looked so ono!
Thanks for the adventure! Can wait to see the final print!
🤙Aloha
Most def one of my favorite videos from you! Amazing catch, print, and feast!
love the waves crashing in the background as Dwight is applying the paint to the fish
Absolutely Fabulous Video and Guest, WOW !!! 2 different art forms each with its own uniqueness. Thanks for Sharing 🥰 🎣 👍 🌟
This is on another level, killing two birds with one stone. Taught us about art and the history of it and another banger recipe!
A man who can catch a fly with chopsticks can accomplish anything! Hahahhaah
I didn't know that Gyotaku was a thing, it's really cool. Thanks for the introduction.
Beautifully shot, the art of the print and then the prep and enjoyment of the fish as friends and family... all of this is just so so nice. Thank u Taku and Jocelyn for sharing this with us!
Brother you are living the life I wish I could. Peace and love from Ontario, Canada. I wish you and your loved ones safe times in these troubled days.
This has to be one of my favorite videos I’ve ever watched on RUclips. Everything about this is so pleasant and amazing!
Loved this video. Loved seeing the casual interaction and conversation between you all while eating. It was very fun and funny!
Thank you for showing us the artwork. Dad gentleman is a true artist. I’ve seen this before in galleries, but I’ve never seen it done. I’m so fascinated with this thank you so much.
And the food looks so delicious. Great preparation there. Great presentation and really wonderful friends. Thank you again.
🙏⭐️🙏
Best episode yet!! Loved the collab, the sushi looked devine and the slowmo with soft music was ultra meditative 🥰🥰🥰 Thanks guys!
Shit! You hit it out of the park this time! When I was teaching school, I had a 4th grade student who’s father was an artist/fishing guide in Idaho and made gyotaku prints for his clients. We were doing gyotaku prints in class using rubber replica fish and the student’s father came to class and used a real fish. So cool Taku, brought tears to my eyes! What a setting . . . ocean spray, sea breeze . . . perfect! Took me back . . . I still have the fish we used in class over 30 years ago. Great job, thank you. 🙀👏👍👍👍👍
This is a favorite! Loved the vibe of the entire video. It was relaxing, informative and enjoyable! The food as always looked so yummy! Great collaboration here! Looking forward to more!
that wave crash when Dwight's inking the fish with the music hitting it right~~ love that kind of details you put into your video Taku!! another great and awesome one. Cheers!
My favorite part of your videos is watching you eat, so I can enjoy your food vicariously!
One of my favorite video of yours!
Skill bring in the fish, the slowmo on wave hitting, and the fish print!
Love it!
Taku, your videos have keep me sane during covid. Keep pumping out this kind of content for us fishing/catchncook junkies. Watching you cut fish never gets old. Beautiful sashimi and sushi platters 🤤. Salmon collars are one of my favs. Taku is legit. Aloha 🤙🏼
Every time I watch your videos Taku I get jealous of the beautiful scenery. Northern California is on my list of must-visit places thanks to you!
Dang Taku almost 400k bro your doing great man. Quality content Outdoor Chef Life never disappoints!
Yet another awesome video! Two great artists in one video. I always look forward to watching your videos.
Excellent episode! I was smiling throughout the entire video! Thanks for the wonderful upload!
Beautiful !!!, everything that represents creativity is(or at least can be raised to)an art.
Always good stuff Taku and Jocelyn! This was wholesome, and the ink dabbing on the fish looked pretty satisfying, and it came out great!
Wow! That sushi platter looks amazing! I love sushi but have never had high end stuff. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Great video! It's fun to see the things you do (esp. underwater footage) and the good times you all are having.
This was incredible. Great art, both visual and edible!
