4 years later love going back to these old catch and cook videos. Never get tired of watching you break down fish and you both enjoying the food!
Cleanest fillets I’ve ever seen.
Literally
I was hesitant to believe it before I watched it, but yes. Now I cannot deny.
Totally agree.
The man has skills...I've sliced up a lot of fish and never done nearly as well.
I would hope so he is a professional sushi chef! Still super impressive tho
I think all the youtube chefs/cooks need to take a page from your book. Your filleting is so clean. Utilizing the entire fish, head included, is the highest respect one can give to what the ocean provided. It irks the hell out of me seeing all the other RUclipsrs leaving chunks of meat on the carcass of the fish when filleting, almost like they are rushing through it, and just discards the entire thing. Definitely have great appreciation and respect to your approach.
I was thinking similar, except I would have been using the parts I wasn't going to eat for crabbing lol (don't judge me to bad lmao).
Yeh-Ern Poh I agree
Every chef needs to learn to fillet from this guy. I can't get over how beautiful those cuts were
Now imagine giving thanks to God the Creator who gives life to All.
yeah but they ain’t really trained sushi chefs, unlike taku. his training is required for him to make such clean cuts
Seriously. These catch and cooks are so next level than anything out there. Jedi knife skills. Ridiculous.
When it comes to the technique, plating and the originality of the recipies - your skill and talent really makes your channel something special. Truly inspiring.
The steamed fish looks good.. after eating the fish, I'd pour all the sauce with green onions over big bowl of rice, so much flavor!
I bet you weigh a lot of pounds.
@@KingKillersKastleKKK nope
@@KingKillersKastleKKK Why so mean??
@@KingKillersKastleKKK unnecessary 🤦🏾♂️
@@KingKillersKastleKKK he's got to be one of the few dislikers :l
I'm just here to admire the knife skills!
Exactly...😅
I appreciate the close-up view when you filleted the fish. 👍
Dude! That filet was sooo clean and the fish looks so fresh. Zero wastage and awesome technique. I’m a big fan and huge respect for your work!
This is probably going to sound a little weird to most but my favorite way to eat halibut is big bite sized chunks in a chowder. I grew up with that so it's probably why it's my top and halibut is easily one of my absolute favorite fish.
Great job filleting btw.
My family runs some sushi restaurants in the bay area and this level of knife skills is a standard. Amazing to see in person.
The simple cevice with red onion and lime juice had me salivating. So delicious. I always say less is more when prepping good cevice. Perfect
Taku that Chinese is my very favourite way to eat whole fish. Not large but say a bream, a small snapper, I've even done it with whiting. I love all the green onions, herbs and ginger and the hot oil just makes it complete. However I could watch you make sashimi and sushi all day long. Watching a professional like yourself is so interesting. I've been subscribed to you since you had less that a few thousand subscribers and I knew you would blow it out of the ball park with your increased subscribers. It's because you show foraging, fishing, cooking etc and it is all wonderful to watch. It does make my mouth water though. I love to make sushi, love Thai, Japanese anything but typical old fashioned Aussie food which is where I am from. Keep up the most excellent work my friend. Michelle
When he is filleting the fish it was like ASMR, it even gave me the chills!!
Thomas Tubella he needs to do a whole same video
Pervert 😂😂
What is ASMR??😀
Wonderful that you can be out and about on the beautiful water as you work out in the fresh air in these times. Be safe.
I'm just your typical fisherman... but I love learning from you on different Ways to cook fish! 😂 you make me soooo hungry 😊.
Ain’t nothing better than a sharp knife and a dude who can fillet that clean! Awesome channel🤙🏽
Taku’s next shirt “nice long strokes”
" Live bonking!"
29:33 “I’m just gonna stuff it wherever I can”
Ruben Reed “it’s a little thicc”
Joclyn: “your sauce is good” 😂
"thats the cheek meat"
That filleting is so satisfying to watch.
The Bay Area has it all. Great to see this amazing chef using local resources responsibly and repping the yeeeeeeyyyyy!!!!
Nice video. I go rock cod fishing at half moon Bay more than 20 years. You gave me a new chapter how to prep the Halibuts.
Watching this guy work is super soothing and satisfying. The filet job? The sushi folds? The oil pour? Perfection.
That is one of the best spots on the bay for halibut. I used to live in the neighborhood you were fishing off of. The charters frequently show up. The halibut are what made me learn to fish. I now fish from my Old Town with the minn kota
I just love your channel! - so much fun on the water, the absolute best filleting and processing instructions, and of course the most mouth-watering recipes with superb, clear instructions. Greetings from Homer, Alaska, the self-proclaimed alibut capital of the world. Would be terrific if you could come up here if you haven't yet done so.
Taku, you are my Hero! - My Emperor! Keep 'em coming, Amigo!
This is sushi. Beautiful moment with your significant other, beautiful catch, sunshine, spirits, and a spontaneous recipe. Bravo!
...
Taku, your knife skills surpass that of Master Hiro himself. You have the gift!
These are my favorite type of episodes
I love the energy of Taku and Jocelyn's relationship wow 💕
This is the type of long content-packed fishing we love!!! Also huge props for making the Halibut head wayyyyy more delicious than people expect, the cheek meat on them is ridiculous cuz they're flatfish. Woohoo TAKU THE GOAT!
I can rewatch every video and still be amazed..........
All your meals you make are deliciously appetizing. But this meal just tops all the others. Amazing!
by far the best filet ive ever seen on that halibut
Taku your filleting skills are legendary so many people could learn from you. Translucent skeleton no meat left what a legend.
Great way to start Taku Tuesday after the long weekend! Not much ocean near me so just fishing and cooking vicariously through you
Taku Tuesday!
Great. Now I have kayak AND knife envy!! 😂🤣🤣 Another great job! Thanks so much!

I love the way u fille all the Fish no meat waste and u respect the fish because ur using all of it .
Big love From Germany :D .
FAVORITE NEW CHANNEL!!! Great work, Taku!!!
"Don't drop the phone!" that's all I was thinking
Lol I was saying drop the phone and fish man lol. You want to set that shit up before so you can focus on fishing.
I’m all for any channel that actually keeps and eats the fish they catch
Ohhh !!! Taku !!!
Very impressive fillet skill. .
Very clean !!
Background music is cool jazz. A great fit for the show.
My mouth watered just watching.
One fish gave u so much! Man! This is amazing only problem now is U MADE US ALL HUNGRY!!!!!
I'm from Washington state(now in Pennsylvania) and I loved catching salmon in the rivers(lost a 30+lb king) and fishing for big halibut is sooooo tiring, I caught my halibut up in Ucelet Bay(or however you spell it) in Vancouver B.C. when I was younger. Also caught salmon up there as well. Halibut is like reeling in a piece of plywood! I primarily fish for bass as a sport, but love the thrill of catching big salmon and halibut! Awesome videos! You're making me hungry!!
My favorite fish prepared by my favorite chef. Way to go. Thank you for sharing
I love that you use most of the fish in your recipes. I love that Jocelyn shares in your passion for cooking and eating. You really need a lime squeezed.
I love you guys!
Food looks delicious making me hungry, I have a feeling baby Taku is coming in 2022 🤗
What a beautiful day for boating and fishing With friends as well win win
Straight O.G. This channel is gonna hit 1,000,000
Watching taku fillet fish is like visual asmr. So calming.
Love it, I didn't know halibut grew that big in CA, my home state. Always thought it was only in WA. But, having the ability to troll on a sandy bottom, that is amazing. When growing up in the summers in WA, I would catch flounder, fillet and put the all the bony parts in a crab pot for a few day. Pull up half a dozen Dungeness crabs for a feed. You should freeze and try that outside of the bay.
Bro, I watch a lot of RUclips videos and I just noticed that I only thumbs up yours. Keep up the good work man. Love you and Joselyn's vibe as well.
Love halibut!! 😋😋
give this man a Nobel Prize for filleting fish, that was smoooooooooth... also that chinese style steamed halibut.. im thinking of trying with pike ..im going fishing next weekend and i hope steaming will remove the sliminess from pike
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time. My wife is Peruvian. Ceviche one of my favorite. Keep up the awesome work.
I love your style of cooking , you always seem to make something awesome EVERYTIME ! Got me really hungry over here !!! 🤙
I just found you today and been binging your videos all day! Love the background music too. But when you mentioned Javier Wong, that sealed the deal with me. Much love from So Cal!
Gotta love it when you pour the hot oil!!
Beautifully done cooking. The 3? Perfection.
King of catch and cook lol I hate watching this channel at 3:00am after a fat blunt
You are the best filleter that I have seen.
5:30 in the am and you making people hungry....damn!. Can't wait to see what you do in the next. Keep the vids coming..
The best catch and cook RUclips channel!
Sweet vid sir! And major props to Jocelyn for the superb camera work; very steady with the extreme close-ups and pans of the food prep and cooking!
Amazing fishing skills and good lord u can wing that knife. This is pure Art. Beautiful video Sir.
Love the video bro, I know the feeling of not catching sometimes and other days are just magic and you have the best day ever, and even better it's captured on camera, great memories! 🎣 👌🏾
WOW!!! You filleted that fish PERFECTLY!!!! That was amazing to me.
Taku didn’t kill the halibuts but rather the halibuts chose to be killed and Cooked by taku himself , it was simply the halibuts choice. When I think you couldn’t out do the previous catch and cook you continuously prove me wrong .Bravo 👏 if you open a restaurant I’ll be there .
Daaamn that Chinese style halibut looks sooo gooood. Reminds me of expensive Chinese restaurants. YUHHHM
One of your best videos ever.
My mouth is watering.
I am so inspired to sharpen my knife to skin and slice fresh fish 🤩🤩🤩
haven't clicked so fast!!!! hahaha stay safe Mr. Taku love y'all!
So talented and blessed. Looks amazing. Wow.
SOOOOOOOO COOOOOOL! Really good skill! Btw , We Chinese people rarely use dried chili peppers, especially Cantonese cuisine, when steaming fish. We only need scallions, ginger, and special soy sauce for steaming fish (some fish can use a little sugar to replace the effect of MSG) btww, 99.99% of the time, we don't use MSG to steam fish
Awesome catch! We always use the engala, sorry if I butchered that spelling, for strip bait. Especially the white belly strips, throw them on a bucktail bounce them off the bottom and big flatfish cant resist it!
Watching you fillet that fish was super satisfying! Here's a tip btw, when you juice your limes and lemons, stick a fork in it and rotate the fork while you squeeze, it'll get ALL the juices out. WAY better than a hand-press juicer even. Loved all 3 ways too. ughhh cravingss.....
Nicely done in filleting the fish. It was beautiful clean 😍
this looks SO GOOD, you're insane Taku!!!
This is by far my favorite catch and cook by Taku... everything was prepared soooo beautifully!
I wouldnt be surprised if you had a beer with your cereal 😂🤣
Beerios!
Beer and seafood is a great combination
My Mom’s favorite way of eating fishhead! She puts peanuts in it just before frying. Just the way you made it, great job!!
Greetings from South Texas, inspire me in the kitchen. And making different types of food. Great channel brotha
When you were talking about the visualization, I could relate to that so much. I always do that when rock fishing and it seems to do the trick a lot. It's really weird actually, but can't argue with results haha.
Prolly my third or fourth time watching this video🤣🤣 love these videos !!
BEST fillet EVER! Best I've seen on RUclips.
Nicely done. The adventure, the fishing, the food prep, and a lovely couple enjoying an excellent meal. Keep them coming, please.
Yeas we need more videos like this love it so relaxing
I can't help it I'm starting to re watch like a great TV series you need to be on food network my whole family would watch
Taku back at it again with the cleanest fillet
Your filleting skills are amazing and I’m always eating when watching cause I know I’m gonna be hungry your food looks beautifully prepared and well done
Fine episode of fish, prep and eats...
I don't really like seafood, but this guy makes it look damn good
Most complete video you've done, an amazing range. From fish cutting to cooking, that was Master level work. I'll bogart your recipes for my local mutton and mangrove snappers. Thx!
Man, those dishes look so appitizing!!!!!
Your halibut three ways looks killer. Glad to have you back into the catch and cooks.
A very impressive combination of dishes! Feeling really relax and enjoy to watch how the fish was caught and prepared so nicely to serve a great feast.
I always check this Mexican chefs from the coast but you are a good chef
Bro, 1 video and you took its sound the world with this catch and cook. So good I had to sub. Thanks from Texas
Wow that filet was incredible. That was so clean
