I used to think short was pretentious, bitter, and whatever the antonym for "easy-going" is. He really tried in this interview to be relaxed and casual. Ok, maybe he is making some progress.

Thanks I realized that I now can spare some time by watching videos faster and use that time to watch more videos :) Makes long videos Short :) 2 speed is little to fast but 1,5 is good.

Energy is found in running and sports like soccer. I would say indoor hockey must be a shortcut bcoz it involves less skills with the ball. So reading the game and grabbing the initiative as well as forwarding the initiative can quickly be practised. For inspiration there is allways light which comes from nature and movies. I think it was Ivanchuck who watched bullfighting before a game. That's where elements as courage and fighting spirit can be absorbed. This means a huge difference between looking for a win instead of a draw. Take a look at 1.5 min long video of a new rollercoaster being promoted and then play. Add on top of that Ac/Dc "Thunderstruck" and within maximum two games u will have performed an extremely mindblowing chessgame. The ideas and build up of a well engineered rollercoaster ride will translate into the game - and u will be able to take your opponent for a spectacular ride. Tip of the day!

I don't totally agree that there's a sell-out in titles. Yes, the new titles, even the old FM-title, are 300% unnecessary. But I also think the level of chess has increased. In former times you absolutely has to have a trainer and strong team. Today it's possible to get to a decent strenght with hard training and internet information available. Endless resources of books, dvds, chess-portals and hangouts with other strong players. There was a time when certain information was only found in russian magazines, not available to the general public in other countries. The internet removes this barrier and everybody has the chance to get it and everybody has access to strong engines (and even trainers). That's the reason I think why the general level of chess has increased. This is also the reason why they have to rework their title requirements.

Zeddicus1976 yeah , for example i always study myself with stockfish and learn things from internet and look to gms games , also play online that helps me so much otherwise i wouldn't even start to chess lol

  • @AgentSmith911

Very interesting that he feels it's easier to become a GM these days. I certainly don't see it as an easy task, unless you live in Africa or the Middle East and win a youth champion and get the title automatically.

  • @metterklume

You could have spiced things up a bit by asking him to explain TDF :)
Seriously, I wonder if Short considers himself to be as aggressive as he used to be.
