This is brilliant! I have never seen such an amazing format for chess commentary. Even the cheesy 80s graphics with the piece flashing is helpful for visualization, and the "Move by Move" style is really good. Getting to hear what the actual players' thoughts were is what makes it so entertaining. It's like you are at the board listening to a post-mortem. Is there any programme or video series that resembles this in the current day?
Awesome stuff, really.. I think We could spare 30 minutes to 1 hour of TV time for something like this, from top tournaments. Shame that chess is not on TV in europe or the usa.. Go, or shogi on the other hand, are on TV in Japan, China and S.Korea.. That tells alot about "modern" Western society, I think.
That's what Magnus Carlsen said, and he's probably right. Nunn is also a Professor of mathematics. In fact he achieved this in the same year he became a Grandmaster.
Es una lástima ver como arruinan la vista del tablero con ese F.S. Temporizador y entonces los comentarios pierden sentido.. al final y al cabo tecnología VHS . El Doctor John es una persona formidable!

God I miss this intelligent commentary. Long lost for today's bullshit 'lets get ready to rumble' *horseshit* heard today.
You make my day 🌈 thank you
you are most welcome
This era videos radiate with politeness, dignity, class, intelligence. So much more enjoyable than the cringe we have today.
They said Nigel Short is 22 and Garry Kasparov 24. That makes the year 1987.
Tendrás toda la "temporada" de estos videos? Si es sí, los podrías subir todos, no los hallo por ningún lado :S Saludos y gracias
I read somewhere that Nunn was far too intelligent for Chess.

Top
the game that short refers to at 14:43 karpov vs who?
Unzicker
What year was this?
+cruiseylee Looks early 90s to me.
+cruiseylee Based on the ages they give for the players, it's about 1987. (Short '22', Kasparov '24')
CoinHunting Drew The show was called The master game.
It was broadcasted from 1976 to 1983
Actually this video wasn't The Master Game, although the style is very similar.
omegaamigo you're right

Do they own 1-5 , and 8 series plus the 2 books that came with the series?
