The very first NCAA football game I watched was in 1989. Michigan was playing. They had a bad ass running back by the name of Tony Boles. I instantly became of fan of #42. I was 15 years old and I was hooked on the sport. I'm now about to be 42 years old and I still list Tony Boles as one of the greatest "but for serious injury" players I have ever seen."
Sam - I agree. Tony was the fastest U of M running back of all time. I have seen them all as a long time fan and season ticket holder. He was in a backfield with Leroy Hoard and Jarrod Bunch - a couple of other excellent running backs. The ran a wishbone formation just to get all three in the game. If Tony got one step on the defender - he was gone! Kind Regards to you and Go Blue!
Tony Boles was a talent. Played in my high school conference. Kicked our ass for four years then became a Wolverine. I believe he had a knee injury that ended his college career.
I am a very long time season ticket holder and saw just about everyone of these plays in person. Tony Boles was the fastest U of M running back and kick returner I have ever seen in a straight line. People would be chasing him and he was actually accelerating past them! He was FAST! I think he ran the 40 in 4.2 seconds.... UNREAL! I love the video but it should include Anthony Carter and Charles Woodson too. I think AC, Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson are the most explosive players ever for Michigan. Woodson is my top pick because he played both offense and defense and could take over a game!
Shout out to all the blockers who did their jobs without penalties, the unsung heroes, and GO BLUE!!!!
Fast runners. I could watch this video all day every day. Go Blue!

I remember Tony Boles, last I saw of him on tv, and he was in legal trouble. Hope he has turned his life around!

That was my exact observation. I never realized just how fast he was!
Breaston is one of the best KR/PR OF ALL TIME.
I forgot how fast #6 Wheatley was. He was moving.
Best back at Michigan ever
Of course you''d have to add the opening kickoff at this year's Northwestern game...
This is just why I watched this college team . They always seemed to pick up fast kick returners.
And thus the best college football program ever was born
music killed it.
I don't even remember Seth Smith, but I know all the rest.
LOL Lloyd Brady rocking the Rivas jersey
2:30 number 8 my goodness
Excellent music
Great vid! I think he was doing kick returns not punt returns

what is this song?
@masejaber that was a punt return
What's with michigan
i think this is cool but the music isnt
Man, I would have rather had this with the original radio audio, instead of some generic gyrating techno beat.
Tony Boles, a career ruined by a knee injury when he was hit out of bounds.
Where is WOODSON
You mean to tell me that Howard's kick return against Ohio State in 1991 is not on this? (Face in palm)
PR
I would prefer the live call to the music
2:35 michigan player got layed out lol
The lame music really runs this...crowd noise and commentators would be better
2:04
Music ruins it. I expected better from this poster
Wasn't that a punt return? Not the same, so take your face out of palm if it's still there after a year.
Short video. 😂
