  • The New England Patriots are coming off their worst home loss of the Bill Belichick era, with their offense struggling to put up points as they fell to 2-and-4 in their first season without Tom Brady. One league exec even made an interesting comparison in The Athletic, saying quote 'Phil Jackson was a great coach, but… it turns out it really does matter if Michael Jordan is there.' In this analogy, Michael Jordan is now the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who sit at 5-and-2 and look like the best team in the NFC. Hear who Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe think is responsible for the Patriots' dynasty.

It made it harder to play defense because the ball moved. It was LeBron dribbling for 23 1/2 and chucking up his shot and a last second pass to a surprised team who was half sleep watching LeBron dribble out the 24 secs. The talent was piled into less team meaning more good teams. Not 2 super teams so to speak like there is today. Winning when it matters, matters. Russell won when it matter. LeBron and MJ won only when they had teams clearly better than everyone else. Exciting. They won nothing until that happened. It took MJ 8 years. If he was so good why didn't he win earlier? It's not just 7 games. Belichick had a middling non-Brady coaching record before 2020. But in these 7 games, the Patriots are already suffering losses that are historically bad in the Belichick era, while Brady is on pace for more touchdowns than he's thrown in a season since 2007.
