BB spent 300 million this off season. More than he ever did for Brady. Brady was the offence. Brady carried many of the dead weight to championships and didn't get enough credit. BB regrets letting Brady go.
People forget that Bellichick had Drew Bledsoe, a multiple pro bowler Quarterback before Tom Brady, but i believe he still had a losing record from 2000 season (5-11) and 0-2 in 2 games into 2001 season before Bledsoe got hit by Mo Lewis
This is a great point. Bledsoe was a very solid NFL QB, and Belichick's team was still struggling with him. Still giving up a lot of points on defense--allegedly Bill's specialty. And if Bledsoe doesn't get hurt, Brady never sees the field. It's not like Bill saw Brady as some raw talent and the future of the team when he drafted him. Brady was an afterthought drafted in the 6th Round as Bledsoe's backup because he fell so far in the draft and was sitting there for the Pats to get or potentially trade. Remember Belichick made his name as DC for Parcells' Jets, but Parcell's himself was a veteran and talented DC, so it's not like all of the Jets' defensive success for their title years was only because of Belichick. Parcells was a great defensive mind, too.
I've made this point to people, including big time Manning fans, and they never have a legitimate answer to this. Also, when Brady got hurt and they went 11-5 people seem to forget that they were 1 win away from being an undefeated football team. That's actually a huge disparity and Matt Cassel went to the playoffs with the Chiefs just a few years later as well.
@@adecentyoutuber7407 Yep. Brady led that same team to 18 wins the prior year. Do the math, that’s a 7 win drop off just by not having Brady. Going back to Cleveland, Belichick has a losing record without TB12. And it’s no surprise that trend is continuing. His ego is why Brady is no longer a Patriot and the organization has been paying the price for it. And what’s ironic is BB would’ve moved on from BB by now. 💯
@@TheGeorgeD13 except for that one year with the Hogs in 83, he was a bit pedestrian. I Love the Redskins and Theisman, but he was a Good quarterback, but not great.
It was a lot easier to win with bad QBs 30-40 years ago, games is 10x more reliant on passing. He’s also really old now, and his best skill (defense) is much less valuable than it used to be. I’d be curious to see how he’d do if Brady left 10 years ago.
That was in an era that all you needed was to build a good D and put monsters on the O line to run the ball and grind out games. Can’t grind down games anymore. All the new rules can’t play good defense anymore.
It's so ironic that for years everyone said Tom Brady was a "system QB" now it's gone 180 degrees. By leaving the Pats, Brady cemented how good he is, something us Pats fans had been trying to tell everyone for years. I mean the great game plans of the Patriots led to Brady bailing the team out how many times in the 4th quarter? He was that good.
@@yeahyeahbutnah I wouldn’t say below average, I don’t think below average coaches win super bowls, but perhaps not as great as people thought. All I’m saying is Brady carried the team not Belichick. He’s still well above average, just like Andy Reid who also couldn’t win the Super Bowl without Mahomes.
For the first 3ish seasons brady was more or less a system QB. And this doesn't mean Bellichick was a offensive genius, it's more that Bellichick's teams played such amazing complementary football that the offense almost never had to push the ball down the field to win, but could play very conservative exploiting mistakes and using the very good power-run game they had in the first dynasty. Brady was a better fit for this by his nature than Bledsoe which is why he got the job. Bledsoe in the early part was definitely a better ball thrower, but just from a different era of not holding on to the ball and where 30 TD's and 20 INT's was a great year because you had to push that ball down the field in all of the systems he was in. Brady became the GOAT when he could combine that discipline and dink and dunk with the ability to push the seam and deep ball threat, making his offenses totally versatile and unpredictable in picking and exploiting weaknesses.
@MrChippinator Bellichick is the greatest defensive and special teams coach of all time, hands down. He has a very conservative and myopic view of offense, and it's kind of dated currently. But no coach has consistently put together a good to best in league defense year in and out with variable levels of talent than him. There have been all time defenses that have been better than the best patriots defenses, but no coach has sustainably put together top 10 defenses and to top it off he put them together through like 3 different eras of football and rules.
Bro I swear they were 😭 Bill won diddly squat before TB12 and he'll win diddly squat after him. He's the NFL version of Freddie Roach. An average coach who got lucky with an all time great falling into their lap (Pacquiao).
I mean let’s be realistic here. The same fans and media never even talked about Brady….he was a 6th round pick. It’s comical how everyone suddenly “knew” he was gonna be great lol
the problem Bellichek has... he was too quick to drop Cam Newton for Mac Jones, and it came to bite Bill Bellichek in the arse. - Steve Young learned the game 2 seasons before he took over from Joe Montana - Patrick Mahome learned the game 1 season before he took over from Alex Smith - Aaron Rodgers learned the game 2 seasons before he took over from Brett Favre - Jordan Love learned the game 3 seasons and only this week is he able to even consider contemplating starting a game.
The qb that bill groomed to replace Tom has been to 2 nfc championships and a super bowl. Brady went to a stacked team and bill still had a better ranked defense than the bucs when they won the super bowl in 2020. Give bill sometime to find a qb.
Belichick is 76-85 as a head coach without Brady, and 31-64 against teams with a record of .500 or better. That is no small sample size. It’s more than 10 full seasons of games. Clearly they accomplished great things (6 rings) together, but he has also failed to demonstrate himself to be an above average coach when not gifted with the greatest quarterback of all-time.
Why does nobody mention the .512 winning percentage before TB12 fell into his lap. That’s another 80 game body of work to consider. No GOAT talk back then
Belichick record with Pats when Brady was out due to injury: regular season: 14-6 playoffs: 1-0 You are a know-nothing clown. What a pathetic joke. I hope you're not a Pats fan because if you are, you are one of the stupid, phony front-runners. You are clueless about sports, we don't need you and you should just worship your Brady posters.
Tom brady was basically the offensive coach and bill was the defensive coach. That's basically what it was. Tom controlled the offense because he is the smartest qb ever. And bill controlled the defense because he was a defensive coordinator before. That's why they're not winning is because tom isn't there to develop and guide those guys.
@@mr.ridley8255 Manning so smart he was a horrendous 1 and out in the playoffs 9 times and once lost a Wild Card game to the N.Y Jets 41-0 😂 Lost a SB 43-8 Hahahaha
I'd give Bill more of a pass if he'd have let Brady finish his career there. Bill pushed Brady out the door, and Brady won a title and had an MVP caliber year in the first 2 seasons after he was kicked out. Bill played himself.
Pats weren't good enough in 2020 or 2021 so wouldn't have mattered. Their offense was lousy in 2019 with Brady. 2019 was painful, what's the point? And if anyone complains about the dropoff they're nuts. They were a dynasty from 2014-2018 winning 3 SBs and they could have won 5. You really think it is easy to keep that thing going for10 years? 20 years? How greedy and ridiculous can you people be?
The fact that other "great coaches" where mediocre without their franchise QB, does not prove that BB is great despite being mediocre without Tom. What it proves is how important it is to have a franchise QB. So those coaches who lucked into getting a franchise QB were able to compile great records because of it. And they are regarded as great because they compiled those great records. Who knows how other less regarded coaches would have fared had they too had franchise QBs.
Last 2.5 half seasons proved that he didn't do sh!t on offense in last 21 years, otherwise he would be the one who was calling plays. His defense was a PAPER TIGER that couldn't be relied on to win 2 playoff games, couldn't be trusted in 4th quarter. You should have seen it in last 2.5 seasons.
Im with Shady for the fact that ALOT and I mean ALOT of fans and NFL "experts" and analysts called Brady mid for mad long and only gave credit to Bill and three years later Bill aint looking Goat-ish...And Dave is right most coaches are far better with franchise caliber QBs but I personally attribute a majority of NE success to Brady
I never thought it was all belichick... Who was actually going to get fired before Brady came along.. cuz he couldn't win five games with his hundred million dollar quarterback..
LeSean speaks more truth than anyone; Acho and Joy are strong, too. David's views make sense for outsiders that don't realize what it takes on the inside to develop talent. David's views seem to be that it's a plug and play game. LeSean sees things from the inside. LeSean realizes it's leadership and development and not plug and play.
All I heard for the duration Brady was in New England was that if you plug in any other qb they have the same success. Well 3 years removed from Brady, which is not a small sample size at all, and they wont have a single playoff win to show for it. Now that Belichick has proved to be mediocre people are trying to move the goalposts for him. Reality of the situation is he just hasn't been able to adapt and Brady covered up Bill's flaws as an offensive mind for years and now they are getting exposed.

The same procedures TB12 does to this day.
Belichick goes with no names so he can be considered to be the goat coach of all time BUT can't do it because his Brady bridge is gone. Brady was 75%, belechick 25% on the offensive side of the ball. Flip the script for the defensive side in which Belechick was the key. In summary, it was a deadly combination when you play the era out.
Brady is the best QB I have ever seen on tape. The most flawless and the most complete. The most dominant. Thats how A+ quarterbacking looks like. In the last 30 yrs really other than Peyton Manning - nobody else even comes close. Of course there was going to be a drop off. But that doesn't mean Belichick can't coach. Its just harder without the one who did it at the highest level ever.
The FACT that BB makes ALL of the Pats decisions on picking/trading/paying/coaching players, it ALL falls on him! Not ALL coaches have that much juice!

I'm a pats fans and I agree 100% with Joy. We don't have an identity on offense and they wanna stay home grown. They need to adapt and go get players cause the AFC East have gotten better
You are one of the few Patriots fans who is willing to be objective. I applaud that. Belichick is a future HOF coach no matter what happens from here on out, but I think he's risking his reputation as the GOAT with his failure to properly organize and run the team without the leadership of Brady.

It proves what most people have said from the 1st season split. And the Goat went on to win a superbowl and the other struggled. It's all because of TB12 that the Patriots had their Dynasty. And Bill should always and for ever thank the Goat. For his status and legacy. With out Tom. Bill would be just in another Coach in the pack.
Teams used to fear Foxboro in the postseason. The place had an aura of intimidation and teams knew it when they would arrive. That aura is absolutely gone now
Facts. Being a head coach is also about being able to identify players. I think Andy Reid has been a better coach for the last 20 years because he's done it with multiple guys from McNabb, Vick, Alex Smith and now Pat Mahomes and also his assistants have had more success after they left Reid then Belichick deciples.
Flip this around and in addition to Belichick, use Arians as an example. Without Brady his winning pct is .589, with Brady he posted a winning pct of .727
Mathematically speaking, a QB leaving an organization that is touted as the reason for winning Superbowls, and then that same player winning a Superbowl IMMEDIATELY after leaving that organization, is something that would make a Las Vegas pit boss go to the table and bring in the Cooler. The secret sauce was clearly Tom Brady, not the 'system' or the coach...although both of those had to be pretty good. That's all that's left...pretty good--50/50.

Tom was basically the offense calling and making plays with different OCS over the years bill was defensive minded only and was way to disrespectful to players and trading them away or underpaying them
Time to be honest belichick is a great coach but it's easy to look better when you have Tom Brady winning 6 Superbowls for you and being the best football player ever to grace the field. He ran Tom Brady off because everybody loved Tom and Bill didn't want to share the fact that they were the best team ever with Tom Brady. He wanted all the praise but he had to share that with Tom and it got to the point that the Patriots wouldn't even get the best players yet Tom still made it work and go to the Superbowl and win still. Tom was the ingredient that made that team work. He's gone and has taken a team that was statistically the worse franchise in the NFL not only to a Superbowl and won but the team is respected now and Tampa can never be counted out because Tom Brady is there. Tom Brady is a savant of football. He's a football genius mind and that's how he comes back with little time and can beat teams because he can see what they are going to do when he's out there and he can change up to adjust. Mac Jones is a promising QB but he's not a replacement for Tom Brady there isn't one. That is belichick's fault. Robert Kraft tried to get Tom to stay but Tom Brady wasn't going to put up with belichick. In other words Bill ruined the dynasty by running off Tom Brady now you have to eat that.
In 2019 I remember some friends of mine arguing with me saying Tom Brady is a system quarterback and his success is all due to Bill.. lol couldn’t be more wrong..
Huh? Y’all can’t compare Brady deciding where he want and winning a SB to bill having to stay with a team who lose multiple stars and players including Tom Brady, it takes time to rebuild a team, Tom went to a stacked team bill can’t just pick any player he wants to go to his team, it’s a stupid debate

As a Pats fan, I think all of the success that they had with TB went to BB’s head. Thinking that he could win with any QB. I think BB started doing what he always cautioned his championship teams from doing...believing his own hype!! Not having an offensive coordinator for your young, developing, first round QB is pure arrogance!
There are two things going on here. A) Brady walked out and Belichick was TOTALLY unprepared for it. He called Tom's bluff and Tom bolted and Bill was surprised by it. He didn't expect it. He totally expected Tom to take the below market salary offer just as he'd always done. And B) Belichick is getting OLD. Most guys, even the greatest, have not continued to coach into their 70's. He doesn't have the energy he used to have. He's not putting in the hours and the work that he was doing just 5 years ago. He doesn't go to the Combine anymore. He spent a good portion of this past offseason on his boat in Nantucket. He simply is no longer driven to win Championships. All he wants now is to surround himself with his friends and family and chase down Shula's record and, it doesn't seem he cares how much longer that takes. In his mind, he's gonna coach 10 more years. Maybe. But for the Patriot's sake, fans better hope he doesn't spend that next 10 years in New England because they are NOT getting back to a Super Bowl, let alone WIN one.

Winning in the NFL is a intricate thing. The stars all lined up when Brady went to the patriots. In my mind Tom and Bill are both amazing. And when they got together it was magic.
The stars were all lined up for Brady when he went to the Patriots. Then why did they have a 5-11 record in 2000? Why did they start 2001 season 0-3 if the stars were all aligned? Sounds like a lot of cloudy nights with no stars
The Patriots identity is: Try to control the tempo/pace of the game, probe for weaknesses, and wait for the other team to make a mistake they can exploit. Very similar to Olympic style wrestling or professional Chess Masters at their craft. Many people find it 'boring', but it is an effective and winning style of play.
Idk you can say the same thing about Greg Popovich. A lot of people say he’s the goat when he is in a even more star driven league. You need a great player and coach to win consistently.

Phil Jackson was known to work very well with superstar players, but never had any business of developing players. Triangle offense was invented by Sam Berry and developed by Tex Winters. Just beacuse you have more championships, doesn't make you the GOAT. By your definition, Bill Russell is the GOAT of the NBA, not Michael Jordan or LeBron James.
Exactly. Pop, Duncan, and the Spurs parallel Bill, Brady, and the Patriots. Both 20 year dynasties that won multiple championships. Both great coaches that had the perfect best player for them, a guy that was the best leader and the perfect solider that was coachable. Other pieces came and went, you could fail on draft picks and signings, but as long as you had Duncan and Brady on your organization, you were a contender. Belichick was never more than an average coach. Brady took an average coach and elevated him into the GOAT conversation. When Belichick gets his Gold Jacket, it will be undeserved and in his heart he knows this. He presided over a 20 year dynasty because of two decisions. 1st to draft Brady and 2nd to elevate Brady to back-up. He couldn't win with pro-bowl QB Bledsoe. All the same players, all the same coaches. Brady steps on the field and instantly everything changes. At best Belichick can be credited with not screwing up a good thing. Maybe that is enough to earn a Gold Jacket. Why did Matt Castle perform so well in Brady’s absence? What is completely misunderstood is that Brady’s influence on the team transcended his play on the field. Brady’s off-field influence lifted the entire team. What Matt Castle inherited was that Brady influenced team.

The same as Tom Brady brother. Every time Tom has won a super bowl he always had a top 10 defense. Also what’s the 49ers record when Jimmy G doesn’t play?
Brady was consistently in the 14th range on pay for QB's throughout his career. He took massive paycuts in his contracts compared to what he could have asked for, so that Belichick could go out and get players. Belichick spent most of those savings on defense, while Brady had to play with whatever they brought in as an after thought. Brady has also had one of the worst run games year in and year out as a Patriot, over any successful QB. Then there's the fact that he rarely turned the ball over, and had the most long scoring drives of any QB over his career, and how helpful it was for his defense to always be rested. Jimmy G has done NOTHING to show he would have won any Superbowls under Belichick. Since You couldn't answer my question, I'll just give you the # of missed games since 2018 for him. Jimmy G has missed 25 games between the 2018-2021 seasons. That's a season and a half. He is fragile and cannot be expected to play a full season. Unlike Brady who outside of the 2008 season, has missed all of what, 1 game in his career?

Belichick's head coaching career was over till Brady got in.
JOE GIBBS won THREE super bowls, with three different quarterbacks, none of them Hall of famers. He always seems forgotten
Theisman was an MVP and possibly in the Hall if he doesn't break his leg.
In the eighties it's not the same game
It's so ironic that for years everyone said Tom Brady was a "system QB" now it's gone 180 degrees. By leaving the Pats, Brady cemented how good he is, something us Pats fans had been trying to tell everyone for years. I mean the great game plans of the Patriots led to Brady bailing the team out how many times in the 4th quarter? He was that good.
So your coach is below average
@@yeahyeahbutnah I wouldn’t say below average, I don’t think below average coaches win super bowls, but perhaps not as great as people thought. All I’m saying is Brady carried the team not Belichick. He’s still well above average, just like Andy Reid who also couldn’t win the Super Bowl without Mahomes.
@@MrChippinator andy Reid has always been far greater than average without mahomes.. belichick has been average at best w/o Brady, before and after
For the first 3ish seasons brady was more or less a system QB.

Bill offered 1-year, Tom wanted 2, Tampa offered two, TB took the two-year. BB said that during a press conference.
The fact that other "great coaches" where mediocre without their franchise QB, does not prove that BB is great despite being mediocre without Tom.
What it proves is how important it is to have a franchise QB. So those coaches who lucked into getting a franchise QB were able to compile great records because of it.

They said "in bill they trust" and they didn't need Brady

Never heard of that I have heard of Phil Jackson being the GOAT and Pop being top 3 never heard him be called a goat with only 5 championships to 11 that’s crazy talk 😅
@@chasetullar2732 If you've never heard of it, that means you never pay attention to the NBA.
Phil Jackson had 5 players who are all top 5 players in their respective positions in the NBA history. Pop had 1.
Pop invented his own system to implement on his team, and he drafted and developed all their players.
I’m one of the people that thinks pop is the goat
Once they retired/left, the whole dynamics changed. The great coach was still there, but there was the void of that great leader and perfect soldier. Pop and Belichick are still great coaches, but it shows that without the great court/field general, they have their flaws, and their system doesn't work anywhere near as smoothly.
@@GameTime-yj6qv pop is twice the coach that billy th egomaniacc is,Greg is actually brilliant while belichuk is just lucky
Andy maybe the greatest offense of mind but he literally never won until he got mahomes like no bad comparison dude always had good qb play which is offense of mind is next to none but his lack of defense was the problem
Like usual Acho is late to the party. His Andy Reid take, I had in 2017 lol. Imagine if Andy Reid drafted Tom Brady.
Well Andy had the chance to draft him back in 2000 but he didn't. But Bill drafted him.
We not ready for the Andy Reid vs Bill Belichick convo... slow down. Straight facts.
This is crazy! Bill beat shady too much up in Buffalo
No, Brady did. Haven't you learn from last 2.5 years? Belidiot's defense was a PAPER TIGER.
@@williamli6200 you should be drug tested. I guess paper Tiger held the rams to 3 points while the offense got 10. Show me another team winning SBs like that lol
@@deciuswtasby where was that defense against Josh Allen in the playoffs? Tom Brady was the Patriot way
no !Brady did
It was the combination of Belichick and Brady that won games. Look at the Rams game. 13to 3. The patriots have also had salary cap issues for a few years.
Combination of belichick's middling coaching and Brady's excellence...
And I will never until the day I die forgive belichick for not playing Malcolm Butler..WTF.
look at the games in kc and against the Charges both very high scoring by Brady,Pats controlled the game if needed Brady would vhave score more
Sadly Bill Belichick is like the grand father who hasn't been to your house in 5 years and asks where the wall dial phone is because he has to make a call.. The expiration date on the milk in the fridge is long past
McCoy is obviously making this too personal. How come he can't name the great coaches that won without a good quarterback?
Andy reid. Nick foles. I can think of a bunch. You obviously can win with a bad qb. But you can with an average qb if youre a great coach. You cant win 6 bowls without the best qb ever to play. He literally created that offense. It well documented.
@@Rascal455 Mcvay and Shannahan both got to super bowls with Goff and Jimmy G. Saying you can't win without a top 5 guy is just an excuse people are making for Bill. Denver won a super bowl with manning playing like complete trash.
Tom Brady was the different that Shady guy played against them he makes sense this time
It also didnt help that when the patriots were drafting under bradys dominance, they were picking 30-32 in the draft. Well, what happens is teams like the bills, bengals, and chiefs were picking better talented players.
He deserves all the blame! He is the GM and coach! He has his kids on the staff and surrounds himself with people that will not challenge him.
Lmao you can feel all the losses shady had against belichick in that take.
He aint say one lie doe
He's talking about NOW, not back when Brady was there to save Belichick. Shady's stats are irrelevant. If you can't see that, you're just another Patriots sycophant who can't handle the decline of their team.
Before and after Tom... Bill fails
5:10 Shot at McCoy? Even gave him the stare.
I’m glad you put that time in, nick saban has to evolve every year but beyond that, he can’t have a Tom Brady for 18 years, he can’t have Big Ben for 15 years or rodgers for 12 years. He has to turn over at QB every 2,3-4 years
They love to leave out how bill drafted Jimmy G
A guy who cannot stay healthy. How many full seasons has he played?
It don’t matter when he has taken his team to the Super Bowl and nfc championship game multiple times. AND JIMMY G HAS THE 2nd MOST QB WINS SINCE HE ENTERED THE LEAGUE (2nd to Tom Brady oF course)
@@Soulo__VI I've seen his play. He isn't THAT good of a QB. He's benefited from a strong team that's been touted as possible Superbowl contenders almost every year.
How many games has he missed as a starter in SF?
Tom and Bill had a symbiotic relationship… and it worked.
It means he still needs a qb. Name me an elite coach in the modern Era who won without a franchise QB.
What do you consider the modern era?
It means you don't hire an Defensive Guy to be the OC
Exactly!!! 👊👊✊✊👏👏👏🙏🙏
Even nick foles had to be generational to win the eagles superbowl. You can't win without elite HOF QB play in the 2000s.
for years people told me belichick could win with any QB. i thought he's the greatest coach ever?
Tom was clutch. He won a lot of games in the 4th quarter 🌗
Still does!!!
Ask the saints and the Rams
No matter how clutch he is, Brady couldn't overcome the sabotage Belichick benching Butler in the SB against the Eagles.
@@JohnSmith-nj4zq that was the day I actually started the hate belichick despite many, many concerns before then.
I will never forgive him for that!
We all forget he was forced to trade Jimmy G.
He had the opportunity to trade back for him, picked Mac Jones instead which is understandable Cap-wise.
Mind you, the year he traded Jimmy away was also the final year of his rookie deal, so that wouldn’t have likely worked well cap-wise either.
Brady won them 2 after that trade. You forgot that part too.🤣
@@mr.castle they won…..Brady wasn’t impressive against the Rams at all..
@@deciuswtasby So winning a SB is just one game? What about the games before and the seasons? What about beating the Chiefs in OT the game before? LOL
@@deciuswtasby And Jimmy G has been "the guy" for the 49ers? Like he was the only weakness in their SB against KC. And he's been, while overall good, a weakness for that team for the last few years, so much so they traded picks to get another QB in his place. You think Jimmy, who has a perfect team right now in San Fran, would do any better with nobodies in New England?
belichuk is a perennial loser without Brady 84 wins and 95 losses with only 7 losing seasons and 1 playoff win in 10 years without Brady
