- The New England Patriots struggled again last night, falling to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills 38-9. Cam Newton was benched for Jarrett Stidham in the second half after completing just 5 passes for 34 yards, and Bill Belichick’s normally staunch defense gave up season-highs in both points and yards allowed. New England was already eliminated from the playoffs entering the evening, but now they have to beat the Jets in Week 17 just to avoid ending the season on a 4-game losing streak. On the flip side, Tom Brady only had to play the first half in Saturday’s playoff-clinching win for his new team down in Tampa. He went 2-14 his first season and his second season he went 6-10, then his third season he chose to start Montana and they won the Super Bowl. This year Brady brings a team that hasn't been to the playoffs since 2007, no brady pats don't make playoffs since 2008 when Brady was hurt. Before Brady Bill had a losing coaching record. They just happened to be the perfect combo together. However most of the credit is because of Brady, but obviously Bill is still a great coach. Compare his 2019 season to the 2006 and 2013 seasons, what they all have in common is that Brady had no real starters and a lack of depth at wide receiver and tight end, the stats are so similar in passer rating, that pretty much says that even though Brady struggled last year with what he had. There was no drop off when compared to a similar scenario 13 years before (2006 team)

I love Shannon as an analyst but he lacks objectivity on this matter. There are so many multiple reasons why Tom Brady is proving he was more important to that franchise than Bill belichick was. From leadership, to taking HomeTown discounts, and just the ability to attract good free agents on the low because they knew there was a possibility of winning a super bowl, all those factors are now gone when it comes to New England.

As a long time Patriots fan (in hindsight maybe more of a Tom Brady fan) this is annoying. Josh Allen is the most fun and exciting player to watch this season and nobody is talking about him. I really think he's above Mahomes (below Rodgers) in the MVP conversation right now.

The way I see it, Brady is responsible for the offensive success and Belichick is responsible for the defensive success, so I’d say 45% Brady, 45% Belichick, 10% others.
Shannon’s averaging the Patriots scoring defense over Brady’s time and saying it’s #1. That’s great, but he’s leaving out that if you average the offense over the time Brady has been there, they have the #1 scoring offense.
