For Africa to succeed "we need to be angry with ourselves" because " complaining gets us nowhere". This gentleman said a lot of good things in a very short time.
I must say not being angry but criticising the situtaion, analyzing it and making a new concept that everyone can work to make it happen but as one power not just individual effort. Forexample look at South Korea, They had war, they were so poor but they made hollywood model. They made good education, they tried to minimize corruption, they didnt let farming(cause its basics what we all will allways need), they produce technology. Next to whole development, they made music, movies, etc. to also sell their culture to the world just like holywood was doing. I mean it is just an example but i must say you i am from Turkey and
I really love Africa and i see a potantial in that continent more than anywhere else but i see also learnt hopelessness. I can surely understand when someone must think of their life, just a bread a day or whatso ever, its naive to wait from people to think intellektuely to change thats why i say, there must be a concept that all but all parts of the system of society will hold, follow and create together. Individual sucsesses are surely important, i admire this amazing man, and its an example for many others but there is a bigger action needed. If china makes the info structure of africa, wont it make them again debtor? I feel it Africa will rise but i hope African people profit the most out of it and we dont see a different face of colonialism. Dont be angry to yourself, love yourself, belive in yourself. You are very strong, beautiful, colorful people and your cultures have alot to offer! Just be all together one and work for one aim as countries than it can be easier than suffer alone and get angry. Anger will only make hate and no solution. Hate i mean also self hate. The best is to cocnentrate and believie in the aim with all chains together and i think african people can do that very good. A country that gives you fish to feed you will never be your friend , the one that teachs you to fish is your friend. The ones that teachs you to do it self, gives you the possibility to do it independent, they want your real freedom.

Yes! I whole heartedly agree with that statement, "WE NEED TO BE ANGRY WITH OURSELVES!" I tell people these days that I just want to fight with black people. Because, if we don't change, no matter what anyone else does for us, we will never progress.

Listening to this interview again. This needs to be broadcasted to every black person globally. His skill as a designer must be exceptional. Because he ability to analyze and explain history and how to solve a problem as he sees it, is top notch.
And somewhat bias.....cause he failed to explain how these first world countries maintain and build in reality China is no example when most of their wealth is frm child labor and slavery....

We only received our in 1994, if you can count the years from 1960 to 1994 that's the number of years African countries had time to study and better their people. Many of them had skills and knowledge and experience whilst South African (black) were still under apartheid. When 1994 came it was our time to study and gain knowledge,but a Tsunami of African migrants came down South cause they knew we had no skills at that time. At least if South Africa said to fellow black foreigners,and Chinese and Indian and Pakistanis don't come now to South Africa for at least 15 years whilst we are training giving knowledge and skills to South Africans. So that when you come there will be fair competition. Again it's fine we will keep our white masters as you say. Again when I go to NigeriA I must abide by the laws of Nigeria. If you don't believe me come to South Africa ,I'll offer you free accommodation I'll show you all the Nigerian drugs places,I'll take you to a tour. There's a lady who was a school Principal she had about R3million of pension money ,she was scammed by Naijas she died of heart failure due to shock. This was an amazing conversation. As a fashion designer myself, it is my goal to build textile and apparel manufacturing in Africa. I love how he pointed out that is the foundation for any developing society. We must produce what we wear and export our finished goods to reap those benefits
I fear that by the time African countries attempt to use textile manufacturing as a way into the manufacture of omplex tech appliances that AI controlled machines would have taken over at least the production of basic cheap goods. It will probably take some decades though to do that on a large scale.

I’m so thankful and glad that I’m aspiring to be one of the problem solver. Now let bring industrialization back to Nigeria big time. Sometimes having a diverse ideas and vision would make you question the greatness and creativity in you to solve any sort of problems in any field. However the decision is left for us to take. Make a decision on what you’ve aspired to be now.
However, they need to create an environment where poor men on the streets can thrive with the knowledge he/she has. But this is not there! The average man is roaming the street wasting his knowledge.

I’m sorry to say that down here, many of us normally complain about the businesses that we earned a lot of profits from but yet not satisfy with it. In Nigeria There are a lot of SME’s businesses that earned higher than those countries that have all the benefits talk of the big businesses here. I’m not supporting any form of mediocrity in our government/public offices as we all know how visionless our politicians are but that shouldn’t stop an industrial investment.

@Sipho Kolanisi: Remember, life is unpredictable especially when it comes to geopolitical situation in Africa. Less than thirty years ago many South Africans were political refugees seeking asylum in many African countries & other parts of the world.
On the other hand, Nigeria in the 70s and early 80s had a strong economy due to boom in oil explorations. Many Nigerians had quality lifestyles. Many were sent abroad on scholarships to study with government stipends. Unfortunately, incompetent military regimes, bad leaderships & poor management have devastated this once economic powerhouse of Africa.
In conclusion, South Africa is booming today but the future of S.A is unpredictable like any country in Africa. Recently, the unpredictable destabilization of a country called Ukraine is a typical example of never look down on your fellow men, for it could be you tomorrow. Hope young South Africans learn from their history. 👍🏿🇺🇸

The easiest way to get a seat and voice on the table in order to warrant any type of respect is when people feel you’re contributing to the problem and NOT always the problem. They hate you because you do not contribute to anything! Only to fold hands and wait for them to develop and help you out. Africa is the least developed and the most that screams of racism. When last did you hear Chinese talk about whites being racist? Get a voice on the table and gain some respect. It’s as simple as that. But until then, I’m sorry I don’t see anything changing. You saying they hate you and you’re not sure why is very disheartening, if you truly believe you do not know why you’re hated by them.

i sorta agree about what he said about nigeria. nigeria should actually have one of the largest economies in the world because of the number of people there (200+ million), the age of the population, the natural resources, their port, among other things. nigeria could easily be on the level of korea in 50 years if there was actual motivation/disipline from leadership to make that happen.

I love this video Tayo! And I love this man and his wisdom! I can say that among white people there definitely is an ethnic division between Western and Eastern Europeans. My parents are originally from Serbia which is a South Eastern European country, a country that faced a lot of demonization by the West, so I grew up realizing although I am white, there is a divide with my Western counterparts in such a way that we Eastern Europeans mostly indentify ourselves by what side of Europe our heritage is from rather than as "white people".
Eastern Europe is also a relatively poor part of Europe and the talented people there just like the talented people in Africa move to the West to prosper instead of staying behind to develop their land, brain-drain is good for those that manage to emigrate but it's not good for those who are left to handle the issues at home. The problem even if you do emigrate is that you have to live with an undignified label which is "immigrant" and your kids being "2nd generation immigrants" who forget your culture because they want to fit in. I'm guilty of being a 2nd generation immigrant myself of trying to just fit in with people around me and a part of me feels like I have a moral obligation to one day move to Serbia and do my part in developing my country where I have heritage. It's why this video hit me good because this guy actually did a similar thing!
And the point that to beat racism it's gonna have to start in Nigeria is so true because you can't rely on the decency of the West and their pride in being forward thinking and people running around with BLM posters, it still won't erradicate the attitude that one race is superior to the other, to do that it's gonna take some good humbling of the West and that's what I like about countries like China and Russia, so it's gonna be awesome when Nigeria and other countries of Africa gets into the game too for winning respect instead of being pitied!

What we need to do is devalue what westerner think about us b/c it has no actual value. I realize that I'm responding to a "European" Lol... but my ppl Nigerian/African need to look more inward, take care of our own b/c as they say "Charity begins at home". You don't get respect by asking or pleading for it. You command respect when you no longer need someone and they know you know that they're of no use to you.

Eventhough , I am from Liberia, I love Nigerians so much,that VIOLA< I speak Kru one of the NIGER-KONGO languages. All of a sudden, watching Nigerian movies, when I hear IGBO, I understood it, Igbo is a kru language, All the same words and similar names in Ivorian/Liberia and Sierra Leone Krooos.. It is true about China, in liberia, people used to laughed when we see goods that say made in china goods at that time
So much lessons to learn from this video.
