The days before in-ear monitors. Too bad. Lots of great bands had singers who struggled in concert because they only had mediocre monitor mixes to hear themselves. They’d get flat or sharp or end up screaming harder than necessary because they couldn’t really tell how much work the mic was doing and how much they needed to do. The first time I gigged with in-ears, it was bliss!
