    Ótimo e lindo trabalho, eu só não faria o cabo de madeira tão longo como o seu, até no segundo parafuso tava bom, deixando só no aço puro até a lâmina e o martelo pra receber impactos sem danificar a madeira.

      Thank you my friend. And yes, it was very difficult to forge this axe, I don't have an ideal vise to hammer it, I had to hit it from the side, which causes me to lose a lot of energy from the hammer, taking a long time to flatten it, it took me 3 days just hammering, but in the end it worked. In your next project would you consider making the handles from home sourced micartas?
    I have seen several DIY RUclips films where that is done.
    The materials were old scarves burlaps canvas and denim from old blue jeans.
    A local suitable resin mixed in clear or in colors.
    The final results in sheets, scales, sticks or blocks is light durable very easy to shape.
    It will bring an upscale recycled angle to your excellent craftsmanship.

    My Viking heart is very well at work watching this.. lovely piece.. but I miss a spot or two, perhaps, with integrated ball bearings in the wood to use as a fire spindle. Just making a deep hole to fixture the friction wood, will still have a heavy touch of usage and that fractures eventually. But ball bearings are perfect for that job, and can easily be fitted on a axe..
    Just an idea..

    • @citizenVader
      @citizenVader Год назад

      Or bone for the handle..

    • @citizenVader
      @citizenVader Год назад

      BTW.. next time you split wood. Try to move the land more towards the center of the sawblade. That's the correct way to split wood on a table-saw, and the safest way as well.

    • @citizenVader
      @citizenVader Год назад

      You need to have a little room behind the sawblade where the wood doesn't get squeezed. You will save on the blades cutting time, and you don't have as much resistance when you push the stick through.

    • @MakerHA
      @MakerHA  Год назад +1

      Thank you my friend. Yes a great idea, creative ideas are always welcome, a big hug. 👍👍👍

    • @citizenVader
      @citizenVader Год назад +1

      @MakerHA oh, the ball bearings is a little something I mostly have on me, or near me when I camp or patrol.
      But instead of having it placed in the handle, I use leftovers from antlers, preferably a section that forks in 3 fingers. Then I cut a circle where the piece of antler is centered in the hand or where you prefer it to be.
      The ball bearing can be losely fitted or permanent with the antler, so a fitting hole is a little individual. Just as long the the bearing still can spin freely. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. It's just examples of what you can find in the woods. It is a good tool in case of emergency. It requires very little time to prepare, and the rust issues are sternly taken care of by using the axe anyway.
      The best of it is that if the piece is lost or broken, you can fix it in the field, and you can do it cheap .
