Shaq tripping. He's expecting the spurs to win the championship? And the impact of the veteran they got is not about winning championship, if they can make the playoffs or even win more games than the last year. I'm positive that cp3 and Barnes has that veteran impact on such a young team. Shaq is just hating wemby since that kid came to the league.
-- super nice guy 98% of the time, but when it comes to talking about Great Centers, he's the worst. lol. It's like he spent all his energy on being dominant physically but not enough mentally.
That's what I was thinking when they started talking about the playoffs. When he was in the thunder they had no shot making the playoffs. Them they missed the SECOND round by a missed shot and a bad force out attempt
The best guys cause huge improvement. Shaq a rookie year jumped his team by 20 wins and barely missing the playoffs, second year playoffs and within a couple years championship games. Duncan did it young. Lebron made Cleveland much better quick, not playoffs but many more games won. Wemby rookie year the spurs finished with the same record from before him. He is good but not super impactful on wins yet.
I think Barnes and Paul are even more important to the Spurs now that Pop is out. They bring a calming atmosphere on the court. I think Mitch Johnson is thankful as hell to have those two help mentor the team along and it shows it's working.
Still too early for wemby to be a champ. Even how great coach popo and great player cp3 is, for sure wemby will learn more with cp3 and will improve drastically but wemby is still raw.
It typically takes big men longer to develop. But CP3 will teach Wemby so much about offense, especially pick n roll, that he might never get anywhere else, and he's getting it at a very young age. CP3 might not have a direct impact on the Spurs winning a chip this year, but he can have a tremendously positive impact on Wemby's career. There's no way to know how many chips Wemby will get in his prime, and how much CP3 will contribute to that just by lending his experience this year, and maybe next (?).
We had good runs when cp3 took control of the flow, HB was efficient as well. Good looks from Castle in his first game, he’s gonna be a problem soon. First game against one of the best teams in the nba, gg spurs let’s get the next one!
The Suns had not had a winning season since Steve Nash. Paul goes there and they are in the finals in two seasons. He was a winner everywhere he played!
I agree with Charles that every team can't win a championship every season. Shaq is right about the Spurs' historical franchise and their history of winning. But they're not at the level of winning a championship right now, and I don't think if they were to improve their record or somehow sneak into the play-in, then it's a disappointment. I can see if they were somehow a super team they have all the star players get bounced out of the first round, which is a huge disappointment. But if these spurs were to make the play-in and somehow sneak into the playoffs, I would call that a success. Because the past couple of Seasons have won only a little over 20 games. And so with these young players on the roster, they get to play games that actually matter because they'll be fighting for a play-slot. Not only that, but it will be a great experience it will help them grow and develop. I love what the Spurs are doing. Building around Victor bringing in Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes veterans who have playoff experience, who can show Victor a lot of things and help him with his development. They're doing the right things and are heading in the right direction they need to bring another star player to play alongside Victor, and that will definitely help them get into the playoffs. It's not a bust if they don't win a championship, so I completely disagree with Shaq and 100% agree with Charles. Spurs are still building right now, and it's starting to go in the right direction.
I think people are misunderstanding what shaq meant. Hes says that the spurs are a championship oriented franchise, so their only goal is to win a championship, everything else are means to that goal, sure cp3 will help wemby develop, but shaq is saying that the spurs are planing for much further than this year, they are planning for a ring, a ring where cp3 wont be a part of
Wemby needs to let the game come to him. I’m late on this. He’s so special but needs to define himself, it’s hard to be so good and be so consistent at that. He’s abnormal. Rumble young man
What shaq doesn’t understand is there not expecting to win right away they’ve got some young pieces that could potentially be very good apart from wemby unfortunately they’re trying to slightly speed the process not but a lot but in a way they are bringing in Chris and Barnes and some vets it’s to prepared them for the future that’s what the franchise is expecting
uh Shaq getting better is a impact . even ten games more (hypothetically) is better so do the math 32 is higher is more than 22 thus an impact of ten more took place . we get your G 95 classification status but they knew signing a couple vets they weren’t gonna just win the champ all the sudden .
There is nothing more embarrassing for a man than to allow personal preferences to cloud his judgement. Especially when they know the truth, they understand what's going on and still insist on their narrative...The bigger their ego and their accomplishments, the more fool they sound...sad, just sad.
I respect Shaq post NBA years, and his business and educational achievements. BUT, he is the Grinch! He is an example of someone who is good in certain areas, and terrible in other areas, who believes that because he does some things terrificly, he is exceptional in areas where he is definitely terrible, and clearly out of his depth. He is an all or nothing at all kind of reasoning, and rules out that getting better is progress.
I mean if you want to look at one game and compare, Wemby is playing at the same level he did last year right now. That is not MVP caliber. 17 and 9. At his size he should be closer to 12 or 13 rebounds a game minimum, good blocks of course, and we should see at least 25 a game. Then maybe he is in an mvp convo. Otherwise Shai, Luka are the guys again.
That's the problem, you can't look at one game. Lively and Gafford notoriously make it hard for centers to score. Also, Wemby was on a minutes rescriction last year. If wemby plays the exact same as last year with zero improvement, he will average 24ppg 12reb 4ast 4.5blks playing 37mins a game. And thats if he doesnt improve. But he will. Theres a reason hes #8 in MVP odds
Jabbar was much more dominant at that age. Ditto for Wilt. There were so many big men that were better at that age. Russell came in winning championships. Skillful yes. Winner no.
Wemby is undoubtedly top ten maybe top 5 these old folks need to retire babyboomers are wasting the younger generations opportunities they get in places like the Senate tnt ESPN and never leave even thou they are demented

I swear shaq has asian parents type of expectations when it comes to big men
typical shaq hating on other big men

It's probably because he made the Finals his second year so he's thinking "I went to the Finals my 2nd year and you can't. You're trash."
Gotta be a joke when he talking bout bol bol comparisons
Exactly, you don’t think Chris Paul’s solo season with OKC had a lasting impact on Shai’s development and their team success?
Shaq is a hater..he hated on Kobe. period
That’s what they said in 99 about Duncan………….. and the old vet with him
Shaq tripping
Always lol
Shaq made it to the finals on his second season he just compares players to his success
kevin harlan's voice is synonymous with 2k at this point. I thought my game was on when the video started
Shaq stays *guzzling down the Hatorade* whenever a big man other himself is talked about.
shaq has a weird brain.
true that lol
an insecure brain
He's wildly insecure and petty
Shaq is a great guy, but daamn his takes sometimes soo dumb

Shaq look like he got his talents stolen by the monstars 😂😂😂
I love how he said Bol Bol lol
The Spurs should get Bol Bol
Did i just hear Shaq expect Wemby to win a chip or Bust?
Clear the water out your ear, Mr. Costner 😂
No, he was talking about Chris Paul having a serious impact.

Shaq is motivating Wemby to be great. He doesn’t expect Embiid to win a chip
Yup, the same way Kareem treats Shaq
🎯
this type of motivation isn't and hasn't ever really helped anyone. it just causes insecurity and a lack of confidence, just like it did to shaq.
