"One of the reasons why my husband played through injuries and pain was because he remembered being a little kid, sitting in the nosebleeds with his dad and watching his favorite player play. I remember asking him why he couldn’t just sit a game out because he was hurting. He said, 'What about the fans that saved up to watch me play just once?' He never forgot about his fans. If he could help it, he would play every minute of every game. He loved you all so much." - Vanessa Bryant

They haven't legitimately been in contention in 40 yrs!!!
You're going to jeopardize that for regular season games?
Two play in teams got to the Conference Finals. One got to the championship round.
      The East can't stay healthy.
Milwaukee is taking themselves out of contention.

I don’t think you can compare Kawhi yes In recent history he has been like that but he still has done what embed has not. in his time when he was healthy he proved he’s a playoff riser not a dropper, he proved he can make it to conference finals, he proved he can win a championship, he proved he can win the finals mvp and he did this twice while also being one of the best defenders in the league.

@ yeah I agree with this, he’s too injured all the time to be the face of your franchise, or the best player of your franchise because it’s true when he’s on the courts he’s almost never on the court an we just have to accept that we will never see healthy playoff run from him ever again you know which sad because when he’s on the floor he’s still a demon and he just wants to hoop. What is crazy to me is clippers gave him another massive contract like wtf stop.
I was more so just saying that kawhi legacy is cemented he’s not in the same vein as embiid due to all of things kawhi did accomplish

I don't understand this generation of NBA players. Their practices aren't as physical as the practices as before. The game itself is less physical overall. Embiid doesn't even play in the post like that either. Michael Jordan's trainer said there is no substitute for lifting heavy weights to prepare your body physically for the wear and tear. Jordan at the age of 40 played all 82 games in the regular season. Season after season the Bulls made the deepest post season runs and most of them esp Jordan played damn near every game without rest. No PED's either...

Exactly. “Load management” is not the same thing as playing less to “reduce the probability of an injury”. It’s the management of overall physical wear and tear, which is usually relevant for people with long-term issues, who are recovering from an injury, or who are older players.

Michael Jordan had a "for the love of the game" clause in his contract, that said he could play basketball whenever he wanted and if he got injured, it wouldn't affect his contract. Think about it: he wanted to play so much, he put a clause in his contract basically saying, "YOU CAN'T STOP ME FROM PLAYING!" These guys today are DIVAS. Adam Silver literally had to change the rules to give these guys incentive to play. As if the millions and millions they receive isn't enough incentive.

This is a crazy idea and I don't know exactly how it can be implemented. How about the NBA creates a policy where if a superstar player sits out a game, the team issues a partial refund to the fans, based on how much the superstar is earning. For example, someone like Curry or Luka might lead to a 25% refund. Someone like LeBron a 30% refund etc. This will force teams to be a little more careful about the contract they offer their superstars.

    • @CanditoTrainingHQ

If you're not going to play, you shouldn't get paid. Take very players contract, and divide it by 82. For everyone of those 82 games you miss, you lose the money for that game. So take the players salary, and divide it by the amount of games they played, and that's what they get paid. If I have to show up every day to work, so do basketball players

Years ago players had to play to get payed. It was a risk players took knowing no play, no pay
Now good players, only sign with teams that will let them decide when they are healthy enough to play. The owners let the players make their own contracts and decisions.
Now good players get paid to not play and be able to sign stay in the league many more years , because they play less and never have to worry about getting injured
It’s gone from pay to get paid to play less and make more money for not having to play. Go Figure that one out. 😂
