Story Breakdown: Darkstalkers - The Night Warriors (Arcade) - Defunct Games

The year was 1994 and Capcom refused to count to three. After multiple years of milking Street Fighter with one update after another, fighting game fans were ready for something new from Capcom. But instead of giving us what we thought we wanted, the people that brought us Ryu, Ken and Chun Li went in a decidedly spookier direction. The result was Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, a one-on-one brawler that traded in kung fu experts for scary monsters. To help celebrate the 25th anniversary of this arcade hit, I wanted to take a look at all ten character endings and see how they compare to their Street Fighter counterparts. Turn back now if you don't want to know what happens next, because today we're going to spoil the story and ending for Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors. This is Game Over: The Early Years.

When I wrote these endings I originally wanted to make them much darker, but my boss in Japan thought they were dark enough! For Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge you should have seen the ending I wanted for Huitzil! Those were great times! Thank you for this!

Just had to blast that Sasquatch music eeh? Man this series has been one of my favorite fighting series and it's remarkable how well the characters have held up. When nightwarriors hit the Saturn I played it everyday at home, which was one of the things that made me stop going to arcades. Morrigan was my main but I learned to play with nearly all of them to look at the animations.
QOTD, All the ending are so great. One of the things I loved is how there are side characters present in many of them with distinct art styles and personality to them. For that reason I love Sasquatches ending. Seeing the whole tribe of squatches with the elder squatch is so funny to see.

if we ever get a new darkstalkers game, they need to have cinematic endings with voice acting. It's funny that Morrigan is so nonchalant about killing a planet eater.

If I'm being honest, I never played the darkstalkers game before up until yesterday, when the capcom stadium arcade 2 part of the reason why maybe play is because I used to always see Morgan and Felicia in crossover games like Marvel versus Capcom Capcom versus SNK Etc and I have no idea what the game is about so I'm just watching this to learn of the story of the games

Wonder if MAME has this. May have to check in a few weeks when I get my new computer. As for the question, that's a tough one. The catgirl one made me laugh the most, the zombie one almost felt like was setting up for a sequel, and gillman one was the sweetest. Too hard for me to tell which I liked best, but that's a good thing in this regards.

For what it's worth, I used MAME to capture the footage used in this video. I had a lot of fun going back through the game after all these years, though I have to confess that I kind of hate that Pyron fight at this point.

I think it would be interesting to have tekken characters in a new darkstalkers, such as devil jin, devil kazuya or eliza, are characters who would marry well in this game.
