    I Have 4 Bolt Action 6mm With 2 In 26 Inch Barrels & 2 In 28 Inch Barrels That Reach Out 1100 Yards & Some Change Consistently. That’s A Nice Set Up You Have For Gas AR. My AR’s Are 2 Gisselle’s & 2 Radians 5.56’s For Gas Rifles These 4 Are Robust. Reliable & Accurate 900 + All Day Long With Right Optics. Great Overall Coverage. Keep It Coming.

    I know it is expensive compared to other stocks but the XLR buttstocks particualy the C6 is amazing and fits the AR platform. It weighs a lot less than most PRS stocks as well.
    The XLR is a precision chassis/stock but I think people are going to start realized how sick they are and putting them on their AR platforms. Especially the 6 ARCS and more long range set ups

    6.5 Grendel mags front wall is 2mm too tall for longer thinner bullets of 6mm ARC and will induce feeding issues. Trim down the wall or buy ASC bran 6mm ARC mags

  • @actionjksn
    @actionjksn Год назад +3

    That's a beautiful, functional DMR rifle. I built a poor man's Grendel version and it is pretty heavy. When you said it was pretty lightweight, I thought yeah right buddy, and then when you said carbon fiber barrel I knew it really was lightweight.
    I did a 20 inch heavy barrel from Oden Works and had to cheap out with the Luth-AR stock, which works great but the adjustments are pretty crude compared to yours and the PRS stock. I did go pretty high end with the upper receiver and the lower is a decent billet.
    These things are expensive to make, I still ended up spending about $1,400 not including a $500 LPVO 1x10 optic. It's a poor man's version but still sub MOA. I do not have any range longer than 100 yards where I live anyway, that's why I chose Grendel over ARC plus I didn't like the fact that only Hornady makes 6 ARC cartridges. If other companies start making 6 ARC I may switch the barrel out I don't know yet.

      Whats the weight of your barrel?

    • @actionjksn
      @actionjksn 5 дней назад +1

      @@theblishknovk It feels pretty heavy. The weight is listed as 2.66 lbs. They have a 16" ultra light Grendel barrel that is listed as 1.63 lbs for reference. For a precision style rifle I'd rather deal with the extra weight and get the extra performance. This is a pretty slow round, so I thought the extra barrel length was worth it. Especially since I have something else that is pretty lightweight, under 7 lbs empty
      I think the best option from them is the package deal with a barrel, matched and headspaced BCG and gas block for $460.
      They have just a barrel and ss gas block for $345. I paid about $400 for barrel, BCG, gas block, and gas tube on sale.
      They sell just the BCG for Grendel for $150. They are not the best you can get but they are pretty good quality as far as barrels and BCGs. The barrels are hand lapped and guaranteed to shoot 1MOA or better with match ammo. Back when I bought mine it was a sub MOA guarantee, which they are usually capable of. My package deal also came with the gas tube, I got it with nitride finish.
      The tunable gas block that they come with is not all that great as far as being able to adjust it. I just opened mine up all the way and I leave it like that. It feels like it's gassed about right to me. They have a better adjustable gas block for an extra price although I haven't tried it.

      @@actionjksn thanks for the info. I actually have an odin works 16" ultra lite in 223 wylde. But i will be building a 6arc spr upper for it. Will be approx 1.4 pounds heavier than my hiker build. But i think for that role it makes sense like you said. I am keeping the handguard extremely light to make up for the extra barrel. Also going for odinworks 18 inch 6arc barrel.

    • @actionjksn
      @actionjksn 5 дней назад +1

      @@theblishknovk 18 inch is a good choice for that round, I was debating on whether to get the 18 or 20 on mine. I just looked at a chart and it looks like about a 60 fps difference between 18 and 20 inch. But the 18 appears to be about 70 fps faster than the 16 inch. The original AR-15 was 20 in, and it really doesn't look or feel ridiculously long to me. I have a 14.5 pinned and welded carbine for when I need something light and maneuverable. It's a 5.56 pencil barrel.
      I'm actually second guessing my choice of Grendel over the ARC. I just didn't like that I couldn't find any ammo from anyone other than Hornady on the 6 ARC. Plus the Grendel had been out a lot longer. It is hard to find the Grendel ammunition though, but last time I was at the store I did see some. I'm probably going to have to get some reloading equipment. I think they are both great rounds though.

      @@FC2ESWS I chronoed the 16” a couple more times after this post (both additional times were 60-65°) and with 108s, I averaged 2525. That was a Rainier Arms barrel. Got a BA 18” and have only been able to chrono it once and averaged 2565 (60°). Was hoping to break 2600, but maybe it’ll speed up at least 25 fps with some more rounds down the gas system. And in my experience, BA barrels aren’t “fast” barrels. I’ve seen a few different brand 16” hit 2600. Initial accuracy results are great with the BA. Has a few sub moa with the Rainier but it wasn’t as consistent as I hoped. Usually 1.1-1.3 moa. BA has put down .66/1.07/1.24/.31 MOA groups. All 5 shot except the .31. Again, hopefully will tighten up a bit more with some more rounds through it. I never had good luck with BA barrels for precision builds and sold all my BA stainless barrels I’ve had/tested, but saw good things on the 6 arc barrels.
