There is no link for the ideaverse series, also I have put my list of favorites in a different comment. Though the top 4 are a constant, the others can change on my day and mood.
My favourite philosophical movies are "Pi" and "The Fountain" from Darren Aronofsky. Both were eye opener for me as a young adult, one in a scientific way the other in a spiritual way.
Ironically when Nick said step off the sandbox, he was actually stepping into the sandbox (and off of the soapbox). :) A rare ackchyually for Nick's vids
Nick, I love this. Your enthusiasm is always contagious. Thanks. Way to go with "Rocky" -- I feel even more connection with you now :-). It is so powerful for me, tears come to my eyes even thinking of the plot and performance.
been tracking my top 100 movies for the last 2 years now and just recently getting into the obsidian rabbit hole wasn't even aware formatting like this was even possible within obsidian so thank you for this
Great video. Like the explanation at the start in particular. I have a database for a whole bunch of different things, but I actually ended up moving film/tv and books to their own specific services. I think it’s very important to store information in software and systems with high interoperability and longevity etc, but I think when engaging and tracking engagement with specific media it helps to use a system already set up for that. So I use Trakt for movies and tv and StoryGraph for books, because they do a lot of the hard graft for me.
Some of my favorite movies: Strangers on a Train and Notorious directed by Hitchcock, The Hobbit series, and the last of the Lord of the Rings, the other two pissed me off. Star Wars Episode 5. I really get into movies from the 40s and 50s and Film Noir, or the original romantic comedies with Hepburn and her many co-stars, Bringing up Baby would top that list. Then musicals, The Sound of Music and Moulin Rogue, I do not watch horror, but I was able to get through about 4 of them, and The Shining. SF beyond the mentioned the original Blade Runner. Thrillers, What Lies Beneath because Ford is so believable to me. Having studied film, what makes my list is a bit harder. I do watch silly crap, but I realize that a lot of newer movies are just less than the past.
Nick, you are AMAZING! I can’t wait to dive into this. THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏 for sharing this! It is exactly what I need to help me learn Obsidian and have fun. QUESTION: It looks like the images are using external links, saving storage, but also creating a dependency, which might break. Possible to store them locally? AND: Can Obsidian reference media on my network or attached storage without copying it to the vault? My computer is has an SSD (small) but I have tons of media on large drives. It would be cool to link to ripped movies, even jumping to particular scenes from my notes, or from a shooting script text! But I can’t have all those movies on my hard drive. I seem to recall that you were (are?) an editor. This could also turn Obsidian into a media clip library for projects, or a stock archive. I’m sure there are expensive commercial products for those, but DIY in Obsidian would be great. I want to do this for music as well. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
One of the biggest things that makes me question whether I should get Ideaverse Pro is that there are some changes I'd like to make based on personal preferences. For example wanting the tags to be capitalised instead of all lower-case, or that I would probably want to translate them into Dutch (my mother tongue). But I am afraid that would break things and would be hard to untangle and fix everything broken.
You saw my collection of favorite movies? What are a couple of yours?
Whiplash, Sherlock, Imitation Game, Inception

# of times watched would be a nice counter to add. I lose track over the years. This is a good teaser, makes me want to be tracking this info.
Oh that's such a good idea. Maybe something to add in properties? Could apply to reading as well

Psycho and all Hitchcock movies.
Why are RUclipsrs still using premieres? That’s literally the most useless feature on RUclips.
or is it...
