OMG, I love you! My Mercury Sable makes a really annoying rattle the entire time I'm driving, not just during a cold start up. But it sounds like it's on top of the engine, not underneath. I'm hoping it's not the vvt sprocket but I'm not a knowledgeable car person, just small engine.
Great explanatory video...I am having the same issue with my 2017 mitsubishi outlander sport es...saw online there was a recall for this issue but dealer says your year was not recalled well I'm calling the corporate office of mitsubishi to get this resolved
The double metal washers will reduce heat transmitted to the rubber. Yes it will get hot, but the idea is that the double washers will reduce that heat compared to if there were 1 or no washers.
Thanks for the vid . But when I give a bit gas the sound disappears ? But the noise it’s the same ! I put different headers and xpipe so I think it touches the shield ???
I had a couple underneath my Xterra making noise for years. There was NO WAY to rescue them long term so I finally cut them off. I figured if I had to I would wrap the area but so far no problems. I don't know what kind of rubber will withstand that extreme heat but I doubt those will. They'll either melt or turn brittle & break away, then the rattle returns.
Personally I would not have used the rubber piece in there, it will cook, get hard and brittle and crumble away and you will be stuck with the same rattling issue. Assuming it doesn't start a fire...
I put a new converter I thought the old one was bad but I put it and a new upper oxygen sensor and still the same noise came back when I would stop at my final destination it would sound like the converter but I guess I know what is it
They make silicone washers that can handle the heat way better than metal. I literally have rubber cooking pans that I use versus metal. Same with curling irons they can burn your skin off in just a few seconds but handle my curling iron for hours.
OMFG I took my car to a mechanic and he took it off. Said that it wasnt important. I demanded to give it to me after work. He gave it to me but now Im not sure AND I still hear the noise.
My exhaust is cracked and this is rattling around and it’s very noticeable and is driving me crazy. It rattles so loud I turn heads when I drive down the road😭😂

I'm more irritated by a constant whine from the passenger seat.
🤣
Wish she was my wife she can fix my car Lol 😂 I enjoy the show very helpful Thanks
Your wife is thinking the same thing.
Another outstanding informative post
Wouldn't the washer catch heat from the shield and conduct it to the rubber ?

YOURE AWESOME. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS WELL DONE VIDEO.
Very groovy sister...thank you ❤
Great video thanks 😊👍
Born in Concord Mass. love how you say car!

Before I even see the video I want to say that the rattle you're hearing is probably the 10mm socket that was lost in the engine bay...
Is this the same noise as when my vehicle sounds like their is like metal moving around, when I have the heat on or no heat and no a/c on.
is there an updated to how this rubber bushing/double washer fix worked to reduce heat shield rattle?
Thanks for this video
Nice fix!
Love seeing a woman teach what the problem is and how to fix it!
Good job!!!
Thanks Sue
Dang !!! that is the noise has been in my vw jetta .. thank you.

Go find your .DLL file. It's surely missing. 😬
What type of car you working on?
Wait, why do you put rubber bushing on it? Will it melt?
There are silicone washers that can handle heat better than metal.
@@skyBlueAlisha really doubt that was silicone bruh
awesome!

I have a 2012 Nissan Altima it sounds like metal scratching at the bottom of my
She was gonna say "junk in a trunk" 🤣🤣
I wish there is a 1A Auto in Europe too. :/
Thanks, I'm having the same problem with my car!
I have the same noise but I don't have a heat shield sooooo where the hell did that noise come from?
Wait, why put rubber on the heat shield?
I’m sorry but how long you think those rubber bushings are gonna last with that heating them up 1 year be doing the same thing but worse...

This might be my problem!

I dig the haircut, they should do more videos with her in them. She is cute and nice to look at. Her being mechanical is a bonus.
Hope the rubber won't catch on fire.
Mine started making this noise and then started shutting off on me
Heat shields lol so true
Call her super Sue
😂 come check out my truck, love, I can't find the source of the clunk under the floor....I sure hope it's nothing in the trans....
I hate toyotas exhaust manifold stud design they snap every time
Might take it off and wrap it in heat Shield

*The only noise my car makes is a WOLF WHISTLE* 😁👍
Weld it and call it a day
I would say a majority of men wouldn't know what to do with a welder if they had it.
This is just poor build quality as we see all too much of in today's vehicles.
