Dustin as a fellow roof top tent owner, install the Wheel Every Weekend brackets. They have a special socket and everything is recessed into the bracket itself so someone can't just cut bolts and steal your tent. They are the go to for tent security so I HIGHLY recommend investing in them 👍🏼
Definitely one of the coolest builds on the channel, hopefully some camping inspired sweaters and shirts coming 🙏🏽

u sir got the small box...the overlander xl is a large box.....my zj is carrying the xl on his rack, takes the whole roof almost. 1st thing u need todo is go to Walmart and get a extra 2.5inch mem foam to add to the one that's there. second the long usb extension cable they throw in for the light is also a step down for the led strip to be not so bright. if u bypass the long cable the light will be brighter. u can close it with the extra mattress and we also keep a sheet and a blanket in it all the time so its ready togo at a moments notice. the most important thing i can tell u is if your camping in cold weather the 2 vents that they built in are not enough air flow to keep condensation from getting everywhere, so what we do know is as long as the rain flap is on open both sky lights about 2 to 4 inches. it keeps the wind out still and since doing that we havent had any issues. the red straps are to help u get out by giving you something to hold on to. when you unfold it make sure you watch the hinge and make sure it goes into itself. dont worry about being scared it will support you, if u can, get the annex for it also, adds a second room to change and get out of the wind and cook if u have too, your going to love the tent and u gained a new sub just because of the xj and tent...
This jeep is gonna be insane.
I own that same smittybilt rooftop tent. To make it easier to put away. The tent come with 4 bungees that are meant to pull the tent sides in as you fold the close the tent. The hook up some rings that are hanging off the sides. Also all your flaps have a tie down spot that hold in place as it’s closing and it also helps if you’re opening it when it’s windy.

Coming from a fellow Jeeper and having had roof mounted light bars, definitely get a satin black hood decal to cut down on glare.

Hey Dut I have the same tent I'd recommend adding an additional 1.5 inch memory foam on top of what's in there! It gets a bit uncomfortable after a few hours.

I’ve had the same “beginner” tent for 8 years now. Living in montana,camping when it’s well below freezing. You don’t need a few thousand dollar RTT. We’ve slept in ours hundreds of nights with 2 people and a dog. Don’t let people try to talk you into an expensive RTT. This is sufficient enough. My dad even bought one because of how long ours has lasted.

You should wrap he hood so the lightbar doesn’t reflect off the white paint into your eyes

Great build! Just a suggestion, I have seen a lot of overlanders add a 2in memory foam mat for added comfort. This is exactly the build i want to do. I would like see videos about the engine. A preventative overhaul of the engine. Added power and the upgrade to a hemi. How rad would that be. David from Ohio. Go Bucks!!

You should do a secondary battery source so when the car isn’t running the other will power everything else and you can hide it somewhere. Only a suggestion

Love this build. Did you get a cover for the tent? You’ll need it so water and sand doesn’t get into the tent when you’re driving.

Make sure you get another softer mattress for this thing. It will make a huge difference in how comfortable everything is.
Which do you recommend??
@@dustiinw I didnt have a SB tent, I had a Tepui, but they offered other tent accessories like an additional memory foam topper. Or if you wanted to save some money get one from a local store. Before I got my topper, I just threw in a big comforter to help with padding.
Also make sure the car is level cause you will definitely feel the slope when sleeping
