The standard meta has been in a slump for what feels like years, and it's clearly been wearing away at CGB, despite his best efforts to stay upbeat. So it's amazingly refreshing to finally see him be excited for all these new decks and combos. He's going to be trying new things for a long time. Even some of the decks that he's already tried, like Insidious Roots, have multiple distinctly different ways of building them.
Came here to comment the exact same thing. This has been my absolute favorite deck since MKM launched and I have seen some streamers play versions with 1-2 Jace and sometimes (with Unraveler on the board or being put there through a Breach/Reenact) you can just chain Breach/Reenact into Jace into Collect 10 multiple Jace/Reenact and mill out your opponent as early as Turn 4/5. The creature-only value based version works well but especially against control I just like the "don't have a counter here? Guess you just lose" button that such a combo finish allows. And shaving off one card for at least one Jace is easy.
Happens to me every time when i play a content creator. I've lost to Swayze and Hello Good Game. Got mana flooded in my Swayze match and I played like an absolute scrub in my match with Hello Good Game.
It's great to finally see a set that shakes up the meta with new and interesting decks. The one fear is that they're generally so combo-focused, that only control decks will be able to counter them. So it could ultimately lead to a Yu-Gi-Oh kind of meta of two combo decks seeing who can pull off their ~4th-turn win first, or one of them is a control deck that disrupts the early game and then dominates. But for now, let's all just enjoy playing with our new toys. And watching CGB jump around like a kid on christmas.
Won't happen unless wotc makes an egregious printing error. Metas in mtg rotate constantly. Combo too strong? Tempo/control rises up. Control too strong? Aggro comes up. Not to mention that mtg is designed where we have quite a few main deckable cards that are good in multiple situations. Yugioh however is designed where EVERY THING is a combo deck. Every competitive deck either vomits their deck out on turn 1 or locks your opponent out of doing any thing, or even both at the same time. MTG doesn't do this. And finally the most frustrating thing about yugioh is it's a turn2/3 game. MTG won't have that problem in standard or even most of it's legacy formats because the meta game and answers are so diverse.
This is why I think 2yr rotation is better though than 3. Keep 1 deck swap in a card or two occasionally but basically play the same deck for 3 years where's the fun in that.
@@hughesjimmythehand There are so many viable decks in Standard right now. This set has brought out at least two additional combo/synergy decks that might have the chops to stand up to the powerhouses. Roots and this deck might not be Tier 1 but they're definitely strong, it just remains to be seen how attackable they are as they get more popular.
Yes and those control decks will be numerous so some will farm them with aggro decks. Aggro decks will increase and the midrange will be an answer to that. That is how magic's meta development has always been, even before the stack. You just arbitrarily stopped the chain at control decks.
This is the kind of deck where seeing the losses was far more interesting than usual. We did the Magic thing. And then we did the Johnny thing where we get lost in combospace. And we learned.
the only thing keeping you from your DREAMS with this deck (I can understand why he was giggling! lol) is simply your deck size (easy to mill out) and your capacity for doing collect evidence math in your grave. lmao I love this deck, sweet brew CGB!
I love this vid and I'm only just through the opening shame I'm at work and can't watch it for a few more hrs. You found a card combo in mkm that is so random and so fun. Good to see the joy
WotC overdid it with mono red in the last few sets and now they had to introduce these ludicrous banger combos that make you feel like you're playing historic all of a sudden just to keep the meta somewhat interesting. What a time to be a alive and play fair magic.
Well, aggro is meant to keep combo and midrange in check, we've seen standards where aggro is dead and control was so good the format was solved. A good example is Caw Blade while it was in standard. Mono red not being exactly good enough to keep a turn 4 game lock deck in check is more of a problem than aggro being good. We'll see, these are the things that got fable/meathook banned.
I love both the self-expression while playing the deck and the deck itself. This has got to get to 3K likes or better. The fact that this isn't there at 3K likes already... is criminal.
... ok, this deck looks like a blast to play. how long is it going to stay legal in standard? cruelty of gix looks extremely important to it functioning
I've been playing a very similar deck for like 5 days now. and it's getting around 60% win rate at mythic 97% ladder. It does look better in BO3 than BO1, though.... because even if all those boros convokes give you bad matchups, sideboard fixes it just fine. deck has awesome matches against mono black whatever or domain decks and against everything midrange without counterspells. the major weakness is against fast clocks with counterspells like those fairy stuff or maybe full fletched control matches IF your opponent knows what you're doing.... but that's not very common so far... this deck is super under the radar for now. The results against the more common meta decks are very good, so good, in fact that I think this might show up in a big way in the next big tournaments... let's wait and see. Still not sure what is the best build, though. Push/Pull is amazing, Collector's Vault alongside Beseech the Mirror is kinda busted.... Malcolm is pretty playable as well. Toxrill is also an awesome reanimation target, mainly because of how he interacts with the deck's bad matchups. there's plenty of room to grow, but there's a TON of power in this shell. ever since Reenact the Crime was spoiler, I'm thinking that there's no way this card doesn't find a home in competitive magic, and I think that's still the case.
Yes, moles are mammals. The rule of thumb is "has hair, gives live birth, gives milk." A notable exception is the platypus, which lays eggs. These kinds of mammals are called pleistocenes
Every time i encounter this deck i somehow always end up exiling all their creatures and forcing a scoop. One guy even left when i cast ome of his his breaches i had exiled with outrageous robbery. If only he knew i had the other 3 as well
I know that the limit to Dimir is probably for the best but... My dumb brain is telling me to splash red to Galvanic Iteration the Breach the Multiverse cast from Reenect the Crime.
Correct, Platypus are mammals, but they do have eggs. Which technically are also the only animal from which you get all the ingredients for a full omelette, but that's another whole conversation
the cards in the graveyard need to be spread the other way for faster play so i can read the mana symbols while i gather evidence!! seems like an easy option to add
I came up with the broad idea for the deck while in the Strictly Better MTG set review live stream when everyone in chat called Reenact the Crime a trash card and unplayable.
Ive figured arena out. If you run 21 lands you'll draw 10 in a row if you run 28 youll never find a 3d land so always run 20 or 21 lands and you'll never be without mana
I used up the last of my wildcards to craft this deck (minus the land cards cos I am a poor f2p gamer). It’s competitive on ladder. Does it always win? No! Is it fun to play? Always! Which is what I look for in a deck. Thank you for highlighting this one!
I kind of feel like a broken record but, CGB’s DripShop Stream was a huge success in my book! The only other time I did anything like that was during a Pleasant Kenobi Whatnot Stream. PK is obviously amazing but, competitively speaking, I would gladly argue that CGB’s (First Ever!) DripShop Stream put some major points on the board and might’ve ‘tied the game’ so to speak! Can’t wait to RSVP the next one CGB
That was a great video (as always). For what its worth, I would like to point out the fact that this is something new, and I hope CGB will revisit it and try ti streamline it. Too often content creators just try to go for something different every day, but I am sure there is value in persisisting with an idea. Just my opinion.
Love to hear the joy in your voice when you play this deck--even the games you lose.
The standard meta has been in a slump for what feels like years, and it's clearly been wearing away at CGB, despite his best efforts to stay upbeat. So it's amazingly refreshing to finally see him be excited for all these new decks and combos.

A wizard is never a loser, nor is he a winner, he slays precisely when he means to
It's z bat, it's annoys z player
Oh the evil laughing brings so much warmth and joy! Love this deck so much!
That smash against Boros added 3 years to my life.
I feel like this needs at least 1 jace in it for those mill outs with breach the multiverse.
Or one Recruiter to give all your board haste

@@k0rrey are you getting a winrate above 50% with this deck?
There was some real pain relieve in the post-game speech after the first boros match 😂
ok janky jeskai was cooking with that one
Finally featured in a CGB video and I play absolutely terribly. Wonderful.
My biggest Magic fear. 🤞it happens when they're running jank to make content.

I play perfectly, nothing to worry about here 😂
@@-Karnage I "won" as the #83 lifelink deck though. The worst part is going to the chat after the match and seeing everybody making fun of you.
The only time I played against him I looted an infernal grasp away only for him to play a Hullbreaker Horror the next turn and I had no answers 😭
29:00 should have tutored the breach before reenacting the crime.
Oh that obnix speech vs the rakdos “your punishment is my entertainment” right after your maniacal laugh 😂
Every time he says 'ze bat' I think zubat from Pokémon

Epic Video!! 🎉 You put a lot of sweat and tears to push through the hard times get to times like this. It’s so nice to see! Stay strong CGB!!
I liked that loss too mono red. Just one goblin with a dream that got there
There is an exploit creature that gets you back an instant or sorcery back to hand so more triggers with breach
Great Eastbound and Down reference at 36:50
Went right over his head. Stevie is a legend!
Its been a while since i last saw you having this much fun. awesome video, ty for the content

the game where you milled yourself out I was like "ooh, he needs to use that Cruelty of Gix to find a Breach before milling any more cards..."
Dope Palpatine impression
Emperor interpretation cosplay are awesome, thanks CGB. 😂😂😂
This deck is a masterpiece, by the way.

ah yes, the classic 4 card combo that's "broken"
I love this vid and I'm only just through the opening shame I'm at work and can't watch it for a few more hrs. You found a card combo in mkm that is so random and so fun. Good to see the joy
“And you hit your land drop” okay so this is fairytale turn 4 plays
I threw in one Jace to add in repeatable Mill off of the Breach Cast and it’s CRACKED! Super fun deck, still looses to plenty of aggro but fun.
39:25 should have discarded the Reanimator Enchantment as well and get it back the creature you got anyway.
This has many similarities with the rakdos etali cruelty breach deck you featured a while back. Love it
Another great video CGB! Also, your drip stream was fun yesterday!
38:20 why discard gaze instead of virtue? you could reenact virtue eot and get back athraxa on your upkeep.
the play at 28:18 was to play the second atraxa to get back a multiverse instead of the gix
Huh? Atraxa is not Eternal Witness...

Love to see you having fun, my dude.
You should put a 1 of the new creature that goes back into your deck
Man, when I see that sphinx on the Battlefield, I can't hope thinking it has hexproof.
Reenact with Jace is my favorite combo. You should build a deck around that. Throw Jace in this deck and it goes off!
Mate, great to see you are a Star Wars tragic. Love the emperor quote! 😂
Mate, "no more questions" suits more the card than "no more lies". Facts. HAHAHAHA.
I love both the self-expression while playing the deck and the deck itself.

LOL @ how much fun you had in these games. Not sure I wanna burn the craft spots for this but it was fun to watch.
Breach picture always reminds me of the flying one eye demon from Doom 😁

I could feel the catharsis after that first Boros game 😂😂
Of course this was the first deck I played against on ranked today. Thankfully.. I was playing Sultai Roots, with mainboarded Soul Cauldron.

Drip shop was great and the Kevins united 😂
46:37 why not keep the otherworldly gaze to draw next turn. Then next turn cast otherworldly gaze and them reenact the crime?
You know CGB, no questions goes both ways. I will never tell you where my pot of gold is now!!!!

Ooo a Dimir version of my Rakdos Mizzex's Mirror combo deck

Holy cow.. that looks like a fun deck!
Last game they thought they were in for some good ol' honest control mill. They mill once with their Jace then get double jaced by their own jace.
The battlestation cracked me up!
Did Markov manor save standard?
So will they ban Reenact? Or Unraveler?
Hahaha that star wars quote 😂😂😂
that turn three deck was crazy what a hand
I like some of your tech on this but Ali aintrazi was the first I saw do it
Emporer Palpatine lmfao
Beseech the mirror is bandanas in this too

That's perry the platypus, how dare you lol

Stevie Janowskie was not your opponents real name. It’s a character from the hilarious tv show eastbound and down
WOTC, please print a card named "No Questions". PLEASE
Your yelling at boros.... Didn't you introduce that deck to us? Lol
How is top 400 mythic making mistakes like the opponent did at 12:54. Get lost the Rona and exile the token cruelty cmon man!
Would have played lilli before the door, as it can snatch opp cards for reenact the crime
Hey love your content CGB! Throw a Repository Skabb in here and you can infinitely loop breach back into your hand
Why does blue have loot?
