@artix003 lol I like to play pretty much all modes tbh. Standard, limited, alchemy & brawl. You're going to see soooo much mono red & a lot of mono black in alchemy. I enjoy the LoTR cards, I have a pretty fun esper Saruman deck, so I'll dip my feet for a few matches now and again. You see a lot of the same shit, everyone just copies deck lists & there's hardly ever a unique deck. Yeah, stale.
@@TheBluntist619 as if mono red wasn't always a staple? Ive seen lots of hybrid red with something else. Lots of 4/5 color. If you're just upset red is in meta over any other color not like before then just say it.

I agree. I stopped playing magic for about 2 or 3 years until I saw a CGB video, got back into magic, and got mythic within a month.

I don't think I've cared about playing standard for a while and every decision wotc has made around it pretty much since i restarted playing around original eldraine has cemented that decision. Your historic brawl vids for better or worse are what kept me playing arena (even tho i still watch the standard videos just because you're entertaining). So idk I enjoy them.

I never play HB but I like watching the gameplays. Its part of my Monday lunch routine, it gives me something to watch to take my mind off work for a little bit

I want to say seeing the ending part of videos like these are eye-opening, and something I don't comment on videos but these tend to get me to. I've been watching your channel for well over a year for some good and hilarious magic content (cause you tend to be a showman but also informative with how much you know), and seeing how Standard and Commander shows up here is why I've constantly showed up seeing what new videos you dish out. I've constantly done commander games with friends in person or on Tabletop Sim to try out new ideas and see what madness can ensue, and its honestly been so much more fun to do than typical standard these days. (Face it: the meta feels in a horrid spot currently from what i see with just the few stand outs). At least in commander, there's lots of variety you can see and coming across different strategies or commanders to try make it an ever evolving and fun experience. Variety is the spice of life as they say. Sure you can have your constant staple cards you run, but even some change ups to the mix can possibly make a whole nother animal to tackle or unleash into the field of commander decks. Sooooo seeing content like this popup even with newer stuff gives for more ideas to delve on see first hand. Heck its a massive reason I still love seeing this channel, not that I dont also see the standard videos too! Point is, I think seeing the alternating of the content you toss out just fuels your channel and has been a huge reason for how much its REALLY grown over the whole year I've seen it up personally. Keep doing what you are doing, fuel yourself with what drives you, and the people who support you effectively will show it. Stay COOL CGB :D
The solidifying Historic Brawl as a queue and screaming to WotC we wanted it was indeed a journey some of us took to the heart. I remember mentioning it through every single WotC feedback form, sending tickets to support team, rallying people of their official Discord server and mobilizing friends to do the same for longer than I feel we have the queue... and I'm happy we did it together. Sure, it wasn't perfect (could have been without the Digital-Only Cards), but at least we can play it (and concede to the mere sight of one). And I'm glad you, CGB, as a content creator did it for us. I love your Historic Brawl videos on the same level of your Standard videos (and the No-Bans Historic videos for that matter (Commander I tried to in several videos, but that just made me realize how much Casual Commander is not for me and cEDH is)). Thank you for speaking from your heart, as a content creator myself I always learn a lot when you do (like today, what you said of in practice attending a bigger audience by doing the cHB videos). Love you, and please, keep doing what you love, you're smart and you'll find a way to keep it along with your mission 💖
Only reason I ever even looked in the direction of historic brawl was because of you @covertgoblue and now it is my favorite thing to play, after playing standard for decades. I appreciate you and all the entertainment you provide for us all.

I wasn't a Historic Brawl gamer, I'm still not, but I have to admit that they are some of my favorite videos of yours as of late, as your personality sparks through your actions on camera and your deck building in ways that they don't typically in Standard...because Standard is just the same old decks 99% of the time with some minor tweaks, whereas Brawl gives you the freedom to do so much and really show off your decision making.
Count me as one of the fans that are here for you. Even if I'm too intimidated to play Brawl, I've watched so much Commander and Brawl content now, and your channel was the gateway for that.

Figured I’d drop a comment since I made it all the way through to the end but I just wanted to say thanks for being open. I found your channel a few years ago back when Historic Brawl was just an event (lol I know you touched on that and just gotta say I hated that they had just that stupid event as the only “commander” option) and when you were only playing Standard. Back then I only engaged with standard through arena as I had mad the switch to commander about a year or two previously. Anyway, watching the channel grow, evolve, and include both standard and brawl has been the highlight for me. Thank you for showing off ALL that arena has to offer, not just what it originally had.
Keep being the one in best of one and I hope to one day see you at the Salt Lake MTG Summit where I can thank you in person. ❤️
I actually played 4 or 5 games with your OG Jhoira deck about 10 days ago, with maybe just a tiny change or two to the original list. I could definitely feel that the deck needed a more thorough redo with all the new stuff that was added to the format and the power creep around it.
I love all your HB videos!! I play that format much more than standard now because of all the mono red and stale interaction that the format now is. I definitely wouldn't mind more HB content though (update on Prismatic Bridge and Nicol Bolas??) Thanks as always CGB, you're cool 😎.

I watch your Standard videos, I watch your Historic Brawl videos and enjoy them both. You are basically my every-morning show that I wake up to as I drink my coffee. Thank you for that. Also, about you sharing the details of your financial success with Magic and RUclips: I'm glad you made that video, glad this has been so successful for you and it is also reassuring to me that you have that concrete financial motivation to keep doing what you do - reassuring in that 'this content creator that I enjoy watching is making a solid living doing this and as such is unlikely to just disappear from the Magic scene'.

But its definitely understandable on why you keep playing standard, and I still watch your standard videos. You brought me back to MTGA, and HB is my favorite format in arena because of you! I like watching HB more than standard, because the decks are so varied. Like you, CGB, I remember Type II, extended, and played competetively in the late 90s (we're around the same age). I LOVED standard for the longest, and still do, but when the meta is mono (W, B, U, R) it becomes boring. Keep up the great HB content!
You + some RUclips algorithm sauce highlighting your videos reinvigorated my love for MTG over 3 years ago. Since you varied your content and showcased Historic Brawl, it has become by far my favorite format. Keep doing whatever is good for you and your family; I enjoy learning how to be a better MTG player from you in any format you're playing.

Dude thanks for sharing your heart! I found you I think from a IHYD commander video, and just loved how you explained the game. I dont even play Arena, I'm strictly a paper commander player (and thus love the Brawl videos). But your way of explaining how to approach decks and plays and your clear passion for a game I also love has had me coming back to watch any video you make till the end.
I play guitar and briefly tried to be regular about posting videos of it - the recording and editing and mastering and copyright crap took the fun out of the hobby, so I'm amazed and grateful that you put a video up literally everyday. Its so easy to take for granted, but thats because of how consistent youve been!
So thanks for sticking with it - and yes please don't give up on Brawl, they and your commander show are my faves!

Hey CGB, I hiked the entire Pacific Crest Trail, and your experience with grinding standard videos even when you didn't want to hit home and I empathize completely. At certain points on the PCT I didn't want to keep hiking. I just wanted to stop for a day or two and rest my legs and maybe call it quits after that. But what kept me going was that thing in my head, just telling me I had to keep walking because that's what it takes to achieve the goal I set out for. Sometimes the thing that can keep us going isn't something that means anything to anyone but us. To others, I may have just walked a lot. To others, you may have just played a lot of a video game. But the thing we held on to that kept us pushing is what mattered. You became The One in Best of One through sheer willpower (and a lot of talent), the same way as someone achieves something like a thru-hike. Love the daily content and my only request is MORE HB CONTENT!

When you started this journey with Historic brawl a year ago you and your videos became the reason I started playing magic more and the reason I started playing paper commander. To the people saying Tax cards aren't Stax... read the words you're typing? If it was only for smokestack effects, it would be Stacks. The x is from the combination of resource denial AND tax.
The name comes from the vintage deck called The 4 thousand dollar solution or '$T4KS'. The list did run 4 smokestacks but that's not where the 'stax' only gets it name. That list ran no taxing effects, only cost increasers and board disruption type effects.
CGB, I never really liked this format until I finally ran out of your standard content to watch and forced myself to watch one of these videos. Instantly fell in love! Forward to now, just crafted this deck! We love you CGB!

I used to play nearly exclusively commander, and I used to watch you play standard anyways, so when you came out with historic brawl content I was so happy that I could watch you play something closer to what I like to play myself. Now I play historic brawl more than any other format, just cause commander is kind of a hassle to organize with three other people, and I am loving it. Keep up the amazing work!
Also I was one of the people who crafted your Jhoira deck a while ago. I don't play it as much just cause I'm more of a spells storm kind of guy more than a paradox combo person, but I'm excited to upgrade it to this version
i usually like your historic brawl content a lot more than your standard videos, even though i started watching you playing standard before the pandemic. sometimes your deckbuilding is a bit too hell cue for me, but that can also be a nice guide for handling hell cue itself. thank you for being there.

played arena 2018-2020 and had a bad experience with historic brawl back then. Started getting back into MTG and your historic brawl vids are becoming my new favorite format
Speaking of old decks that I'll never forget frok you. My favorite deck ever was the sultai ultimatum with professor onyx, vorinclex, Koma, alrunds epiphany, and that saga card I forget it's name. Man fell in love with that deck. I miss it dearly.

Sounds like work. You don't necessarily have to always LOVE your job (sometimes it's just a duty), but it's the thing you do so that you can do the things you DO love. You're working awfully hard, nobody can argue that. And the decisions you've made are paying off large (the invitations to the show, the cons, etc.). Try not to second guess yourself!

@51:46 the (probably marginally more) optimal play there is to cast Cyclonic Rift with the ETB of Plaguecrafter on the stack there, making them unable to sacifice something to it, making them discard a card.
CBG the GOAT. You and LVD are the reason I got back into magic. Make the content you want to make! I will always be a standard player and standard fan but a lot of people love commander and you should totally make content for them too! Please continue doing both!

I personally really enjoy the Brawl content, I'm in the group that would watch you just play blue white control forever, my favorite video of yours are the ones where you're playing a deck you created and enjoy playing , so getting the guaranteed experience of that every week is nice
I watch because when I play I feel like I'm always at a disadvantage because I don't know many cards by heart. So watching all types of content have really helped me become a better player.
At the 3rd game, CGB said like 5 time ''if they have bonecrucher giant, damage cant be prevent and they can kill me.'' CBG, if you have protection from everything, bonecrucher cant target you my boy.
They can target a creature or themselves, dad, and have the effect work

Hey CGB, been a viewer for a while now, enjoying silently in the background throughout my day. Just felt like saying how much I appreciate your candidness at the end, and while I definitely tune in for all sorts of content, I do enjoy your Historic Brawl content since it switches things up enough from the slog of standard. I learn a lot through your videos, and while I don't really play much of the game myself, your videos become a near daily view for me in recent times. Keep doing what you love to do, what you love to make, and even if the looming threat of putting out "unpopular" content may never leave your mind, I hope that you can have some peace of mind knowing that there's an audience out there that loves what you put out, and will be supportive of whatever makes you happiest to play. I started watching your historic brawl videos because when the play queue opened up, that’s what I played as a commander player.
Your ability to bring deck after deck to life is unparalleled. I stopped playing because of the cost to building all the decks I wanted to in brawl was too much. The fact that you explore all these different commanders is extremely enjoyable.
I still love your standard content but your brawl content makes the commander player in me excited each time I see one.

I left standard and arena when the first eldraine released but still watched your content every day, especially after Nox and Merchant decided to stop. Got into paper commander with the pandemic and today am more of a lorcana player with weekly commander games with friends.
The one thing that hasn’t changed is how much I enjoy watching you play. Definitely love the commander and historic brawl content more but you’re a great and dedicated content creator and your commitment shows.
