Gold Silver Ratio Trading Strategy Explained - Gold and Silver Investing
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 май 2020
- In this video I talk about the gold silver ratio and how to use it for gold and silver investing. The best way to explain the gold silver ratio is the amount of ounces of silver it takes to buy 1 ounce of gold. In this video I talk about the paper gold silver ratio and I also talk about the physical gold silver ratio and why that matters as well. The most common gold silver ratio trading strategy is to buy silver at a GSR over 80 and Gold at a GSR under 60. The gold silver ratio in 2020 hit all time highs but it is now under 100 again. The GESER (gold eagle silver eagle ratio) is currently around 75. One gold silver ratio strategy is to sell gold for silver when the ratio is high, but I believe diversity within precious metals is important so I don't practice this. If you want to make a gold silver ratio trade then you will need to factor in premiums. I think that the GSR is important to look at when gold investing and silver investing because it gives you a good idea which precious metal is better to be investing in at any given time.

My only strategy is buy what I like at the price I'm willing to pay.... 😆
That's a great strategy!
Oh Wheels, I have bid against you and I will say you have great taste and are willing to pay for it! LOL
Silver Wheels yep, over time, no matter what buying level your purchase WILL RISE in value, buying power
Agreed, $5 max premium per ounce for silver
keep on stacking my friend!!!! 🔥🐉
Thank you!!! This is the best analysis of the GSR I've seen. Paper and physical prices have detached and everyone is relying on paper price and not the true market prices.
thanks so much my friend! they certainly have 🔥🐉
Thank You for your vids !! Very informative and Much Appreciated!!!👍👍
you are welcome my friend! 🔥🐉
I dig the video, good job. Another thing thing to keep in mind (along with the price, premium, GSR) is the time to delivery/risk cost as well. I will pay another % or if the coins go in the mail the next biz day, instead of 4-6 weeks down the road. Keep up the great work!
that’s why I prefer to buy locally 😏🔥🐉
Hey there! Ive been watching your content for years now silver dragons! And I'm new to the game got into an accident and finding out how broke and my money being stolen I began watching your show teaching about why you stack and i got into money and now i want to up my game to the next level
Dude‼️ All lined up perfect 👌🏽
I appreciate how long that must’ve taken you...maybe 1 hour?!?
Great vid SD‼️👍🏼
lol it took a while thanks! 🔥🐉
Great info Silver Dragons!!! Thx
I'm glad you mentioned that some LCS dealers will not give you the full spot price on a trade, at least in normal times. It depends on the silver or gold type. The other thing to consider is loss of premiums when you make that trade. So, if you pay $8 over for an eagle and your LCS gives you $2.50 over towards a trade for gold, you calculate the change in spot compared to gold price minus the $5.50 each for eagles...just as an account of loss. Great video my friend.
yeah it’s important to look at the buy/sell spread for sure 👍🏽 seems like eagles are crazy right now 🙄🔥🐉
Good info SD. Thanks for the vid.
you are welcome my friend! 🔥🐉
Me being a new stacker this was the most understanding video out therr
I'm 50/50 Gold/Silver on what I'm buying. I've been trying to pick up a 1/4 Gold Eagle with each tube of 20 ASEs.
I think diversity is important. If silver or gold don't perform as expected, I always have the other half. I doubt either one will ever be worthless.
I stopped looking at dollar amounts (sure I keep track of spot, but not how much my collection is worth), I focus on ounces.
yes neither will be worthless... good luck my friend! 🔥🐉
SD Bullion made it right, thanks for the response/offer to help Silver Dragons!
what do you mean? 🔥🐉
Nice video. The GSR is an indicator of what precious metal to buy at the moment, just as you say and suggest. What needs to be accounted for is cost. Simply trading based on a GSR is not an accurate way to capture a good trade unless cost is factored into that trade. What was paid for all of the silver being traded for the gold? A straight trade of silver for gold is only good if the silver was purchased as close to spot price at the time when it was purchased. Compare what was paid for all the silver to the cost of the gold piece, and that will be a true indicator of a good deal.
yep always gotta factor EVERYTHING in! 🔥🐉
New stacker here....would you consider doing a video on all the aspects of selling silver? What to look for, how to know the value of certain pieces, where to find that value, pitfalls, tax issues?? I would really appreciate it ,there are alot of us new attackers out here....
Yo Todd, I did a video about that yesterday
great idea! 👍🏽🔥🐉
Thanks for the video I love my silver got to stack the silver
Thanks for informative video
Silver is a buy I repeat silver is a definite buy
oh yeah 😜🔥🐉
Ahhhh you saw my comment on IG! Great idea 😆
thanks my friend! 🔥🐉
Good video man!
thanks so much my friend! 🔥🐉
Great vid brother!! Lots to think about in this vid! OK I'll just keep buying everything just to be safe! LOL
thanks my friend and yes keep on stacking! 👍🏽🔥🐉
I buy basically all silver, but exclusively buy ASEs to keep long term, (Hoping to finish my first monster box within the year if all goes well. These premiums really have me hesitant about buying lately)
But the generic silver bars and rounds I buy I try to get at spot or as close to as possible and keep them around for trades in to gold when I can.
great strategy and good luck my friend! 🔥🐉
For me it’s to risky to play the GSR right now because things just are not what they seem . In stead I like to cost average out gold , and separately I cost average out silver . What ever I’m in the green on I buy that . And I must say I’m definitely not in the green with silver . But I am in the green with gold even after a large 1oz gold buffalo purchase I’m still a few Hundo to the good .
I do this because I want to be able to diversify my stack in the moment with out sacrificing time on stacking . Time is of the essence right now for stacking . Because I believe it’s getting ready to shoot up with both metals. Thank you
Silver dragons 🐉 I appreciate your time and hard work
it does seem like a bull run is starting 🔥🐉
Good analysis especially paper vs physical
thanks my friend! 🔥🐉
I love the way you set up those silver coins After you stare them for awhile they look like five silver cookies stacked up on top of each other. it must’ve taken you quite some time to set the stage up so perfectly. Great job thank you.👍 ps. Content was on the money. Pardon the pun.👍
lol it did take quite a while 😂🔥🐉
Dude thanks for all of the videos. Since subscribing earlier today I have decided to buy my first bit of silver in order to begin stacking. Can you explain your rational of the stacking of stricly coins vs bars and coins or does it even matter?
I like coins better because they are backed by a sovereign nation. I get more money when I sell them. look at buy back prices and you will see what i’m talking about 🔥🐉
I enjoyed last night's auction. Count me in in the future. I'll end up paying too much for some things, because I am pretty new to the coin stacking and collecting (a little). Thanks, Detective Mike
hey iv spend insane amounts on my collections 😂 thanks for the support!!! 🔥🐉
If you are going to play the GSR, the best way is through a digital gold/silver account through a vault dealer such as OneGold or the like. That way the spread is much more reasonable, and you can actually make money. Physical gold and silver carries too high a premium and you lose too much value trying to sell one to buy the other. Best to just buy and hold for physical.
but with one gold you can’t play with your bullion 😏🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 true it's madness digital gold you don't own it until you have it
My favorite ratio was in may 2011 would sell a 10oz bar and get a tenth ounce gold eagle for 150
My favorite prices are 350 for a 1/4 oz and 20 a oz for silver
yeah that sounds reasonable! 😏🔥🐉
👍⚪👍 thanks for sharing your thoughts on the geser I heard it here first. I'm pretty sure that's what wall street wants us doing gesering 🤔🤔🤷🤷
lol awesome first to coin the term 😁🔥🐉
Great video
thanks so much my friend! 🔥🐉
I learned something. Thanks. Now do a video on when selling say Mercury dime's or any 90% denomination when you see someone post for instance 50 Mercy dime's for say at face value x13.5 please. I'd like a better understanding of this. Thanks again Silver Dragon!
ruclips.net/video/jH0Iqal3OL4/видео.html enjoy 🔥🐉
need bump this up with ratio going back up!
That is the best, most precise presentation of eagles I have ever seen!
Great content in this video too, SD 👍
thanks so much my friend! 🔥🐉
I started making a spreadsheet tracking the retail prices for 1 ounce gold coins against what my bullion dealer will *pay* for 1 ounce silver coins, to get a better idea of when to swap the silver for gold.
That field of eagles looks sooooo nice! 👁👁😄👍
lol I had fun buying them 😂🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 I'm working on a 1oz eagle or buffalo but still sprinkling in some silver along the way. 👍
Right now the GSR is 100 to 1! I've got a feeling that the GSR may go down to 20 to 1! When that happens you can get 5 ounces of gold for 100 ounces of silver! Waiting could pay off better!
dont hold your breath
20 to 1? I don’t see that happening..70 to 1, 50 to 1 maybe, 20 to 1, not a chance, unless there becomes a massive shortage of silver
@@jaydee5447 yea i say it might get to 70-1 or 50-1 because in 2011 in got to 35-1
aiden miach ....and how long did that ratio last big boy?
aiden miach the historical average is 70 to 1...throughout history, the average is 70 to 1...now, I’m not a rocket scientist but what that tells me is the ratio between gold and silver is....what for it..70 to 1
So 80/1 and up you buy silver, 60/1 and lower you buy gold, 60-80/1 is preference? Is this correct?
Also are there any online buyers that you guys would recommend? I would like to convert some silver to gold when the ratio hits 50:1 and I'm not sure if local shops are open
I like SD Bullion 🤷🏽♂️🔥🐉
Basically, it’s showing the physical gsr, which is surprisingly not even close to the paper gsr.🔥🔥🔥
yeah WAY lower 👍🏽🔥🐉
Hi 👋🏼 I have a bit of a struggle about investing in my country. I live in Bulgaria and I’m a bit confused, because we have 20% taxes on silver. So that makes the silver premium around 40%. So in that case is it worth buying silver at all?
For an example right now the spot for silver is 22.62€ and the cheapest coins I can find are the Britannia and Wiener philharmoniker which are around 32.50€ each. Compared to Germany or Austria the coins there are between 27-28€ but if I want to purchase from there I have to pay 40€ for shipping and that’s not very expensive.
Let’s say I want to invest in silver and when I have more oz’s I want to exchange them for gold. Is that going to be worth it when I payed before that 20% extra because of the taxes when gold is free of taxes?
Don't you think you should have within both stacks a grouping of each that is really there for selling in these large fluctuations? I am really only accumulating silver at the moment but within the stack I have long term stack material and short term stack material.
yeah I have like 4 different stacks 😂🔥🐉
Another great video, but do LCS's trade silver/gold at all or is it something you need a broker for? Also will they trade like Silver Bars for Gold Eagles or vice versa? What is the best way to trade? Silver Eagles for Gold Eagles or silver bars for gold eagles or something else? Is that something that is common? Also where can i get tools for verifying what i buy, looking for a scale, a magnet and one of those super whamadine spectrum analyzers or whatever it is?
They will trade you as long as they get the better deal. Generic rounds and bars cost way less than a silver eagle. 90%,40%, and Even 35% silver cost more than Rounds. Specifically I’m a low premium stacker. What ever is the cheapest I buy to put the most weight into my stack. It’s personal preference really. I would trade my most expensive coins for the cheapest ones. Also Amazon, Walmart, hedge shops all have scales you can buy. I recommend a neodymium magnet. They are super common everywhere. Unless you have a lot of experience gold the spectrum machine is too expensive. The gold and silver acid and black slate, purity testing kits are much more affordable.
as far as I know you will always have to cash out in the middle of a trade to follow all IRS rules 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 Not sure what you mean cash out in the middle of a trade?
R D you have to sell you silver for cash and buy gold with the cash
@@SilverDragons47 Ok got it now, thanks for filling in the blank for me. I'm old and not always up to speed.
All I understand is that I neeeeed more. 🎉😁🇺🇸
lol
That's my goal this year is to get the silver to gold ratio
😂😂😂 it’s just a number 🔥🐉
When you say that are paying 250 over spot, does that mean in any condition or year??? Does the.quality of coin or age make a difference on selling silver for a little over spot??? Thx
yes that’s for BU. condition does matter 🔥🐉
Isn't there a spread between buying and selling silver eagle coins in the same company? Your GESER will have compare the company's buy-gold/sell-silver ratio to sell-gold/buy-silver ratio for whatever strategy you're looking to do.
That makes more sense the price of each because of the buy back price
and he is only talking about modern American coins....
right if you look at the buy back of one and the sell of another that might help as well 🔥🐉
Would you guys say that waiting until the ratio hits 50:1 is reasonable? Right now that's my olan but it may be unrealistic
star before then but do a little at a time 🔥🐉
You are actually describing the silver-to-gold ratio when you say one hundred-to-one. So instead of "gsr" you can call it the "seeger" (if you like folk music) or the "segar" (if you like old time rock 'n roll). Thank you for the vid.
lol yes I know it’s 1-100 but everyone says it that way 😂🔥🐉
Just seeing all those eagles spread out like that is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen... silver is more beautiful than gold imo
I agree. I feel that silver is much more aesthetically pleasing than gold.
@@JM-oi9pk lol im not comparing value bruh. Silver looks better than gold in my eyes. How often do you walk around with diamonds and gold in your pockets lmao
Problem at the moment are the high silver premiums, silver has to make drastic moves up to offset them.
true... we will see what happens! 🔥🐉
Speg.. what ever happened to platinum? At one time it was highly prized and high then gold.. The GEAE is a great ratio to use aswell..😉
yeah platinum has tanked quite a bit... less cars being made 🤷🏽♂️🔥🐉
S.D, i think i,ll stick with silver for now, till i can get to a more secure place,, away from my family as they would clean me out if they knew i had a stack,, but yup i,ll buy when i can afford to, be safe, be strong, be free, be blessed
yes always gotta keep it on the down low 👍🏽🔥🐉
whats with the hands?
I like silver below $20. I like gold as a constant savings account until it reaches 6 months worth of my expenses, then I would weigh gold against all other investments and the cycles for those investments, equities, housing, etc........
How would I figure how much silver for a 1/4 oz gold - just wondering- wouldd that be beneficial????
I saw what you did...
I saw it in a split second 👊🏼
😂😂😂🔥🐉
Silver Dragons
I’m sooo bored w/ this fake-demic, I might do the same 100 wall of ASEs. You make it look super nice 👍🏼
Love stacking eagles, but they're so overrated at these prices. I do think silver will easily revisit it's previous highs of $50 and go beyond that in the coming years, but I'm stacking for weight! Been buying mostly generic for under $20.
yep get em while you can! 🔥🐉
Can you show the GSR on a piece of paper for us dopes
Imagine how many gold American Gold Eagles you could trade your 500 coin monster box for in the future?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
hopefully quite a few 😏🔥🐉
I wonder if the eagle ratio is always lower than the GSR??
i’m my experience yes it is but probably not always 🤷🏽♂️🔥🐉
The real thing to consider with gardening season upon us is the pumpkin to silver ratio which as it stands to the ASER is about 6.5:1 being that the spot price of pumpkins is around $4. Will this hold up into the fall when i can sell pumpkins out of the bed of my truck then turn those pumpkins into silver? Who knows. If it falls apart there will no doubt be economic collapse as the dollar may as well be based on the pumpkin at this point. 🎃
lol good point but I mainly focus on the silver squash ratio 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 a niche market, but I'm there too. Gotta diversify your squash holdings though. Winter squash, summer squash and the high premium but fast moving zucchini.
I'm new here, just have a quick question....what's with the odd hand gesture in the begining if the videos....
Silver gansta.
I have wondered that too.
Not my cup of tea.
Still some good info here anyway.
it’s what dragons do 😏 iv been doing for years now to late to stop 😂🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 bruhhhhh, you got me doing it everytime I watch ur vids!!!!😂I hate it here lol....!!! Keep up the great content....
What I hate as a staker is wen i want to sell no matter what silver i have i get les than spot and wen i buy it can be 10 dolars over spot this is a los off 10 dolars for each coin
which is you have to stack and HOLD don’t sell right away 😏🔥🐉
Silver Gold Bull, as of 5/20/20 has1/2 oz U.S. Australian WWII Silver Coins for $2 off per coin on their deals tab. Tthat comes to about 19.24 per oz when you buy 10oz. best deal I have seen in awhile.
😮😮😮 thanks for the tip! 🔥🐉
GESER!!!!
Hopefully in our lifetime we can see $100oz Silver
Hey, I’ve seen tons of 100oz silver you can get those bars anywhere 😁🤙
Yeah, I hope you get to live another year or two.
Way to change your reply
Hopefully it's after I can pull another couple grand together lol!
I got some 100.00 dollar 1 oz coins u can buy
As opposed to using the GESER method try using the SWAG method. SWAG meaning Scientific Wild Arsed Guess! Used with great success in the British Military!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 nice i’ll try it out 🔥🐉
Fyi, SD Bullion is now selling a 1/10ozt gold kookaburra...And it's the 30th Anniversary design.
Isn't this the first gold kookaburra?
yes it is the first gold kook they have been selling them forever and no one is buying them 😂🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 it is kind of amazing they aren't selling. They have a listed mintage of only 15k for this first year whereas the 1/10ozt gold kangaroos are 50k runs.
Like you, the actual price for an ounce of silver is above what I currently want to pay...with these being the same price if not cheaper than 10ozt of silver they are a tempting way to expand a gold stack and add in possible future numismatic value as a bonus. Or am I crazy?
Isn't the historical GSR about 10-20:1?
That was my understanding
not since we have been off the gold standard 😏🔥🐉
add one more factor;
selling cost vs buying cost
yes always gotta look at the buy/sell spread! 🔥🐉
The rear view mirror is always clearer than the windshield.....
Let Cubic Dollar Index be:
(Density of Au / Density of Ag) * ( GESER)
(19.6/10.5) * ( 75.6) = 141
So Gold stores $141 in the same volume as $1 of Silver.

I don't care if silver goes up to $100. All I want is the silver/gold ratio to get to 30/1. Would love to trade my little silver for some gold.
IMHO You can't use a 100 SAE as lowest price . . . You would also have to use 100 GAE lowest price for the ratio to be true. You have to use lowest cost for 1 SAE as a single item purchase.and compare that the GAE single item purchase.
lol that would make the ratio more drastic? which way to you think i’m trying to spin it? it’s not 10,000 vs 100 🤷🏽♂️🔥🐉
When will Gold be $25,000 per oz
And
When will Silver be $1,000 per oz

Why don't you just buy gold straight up? Does the gold silver ratio matter any more? Silver is just lagging so far behind. Give up on silver and just get gold.
Did you even watch the video? You don't "just buy gold straight up" because you can potentially end up with MORE gold for your money.
Its simple, buy gold if you're retired or going to retire soon. Buy silver if you can wait. . Me, I'm buying silver.
silver usually does lag behind... give it some time 🔥🐉
There’s Junk Silver Is There A Such A Thing As Junk Gold ?
Yeah, it’s in the form of 14k jewelry & 10k chains...
technically pre33 gold which is 90% 👍🏽🔥🐉
It is possible to buy silver eagles much cheaper than what you are saying. You just need to go to Ebay and buy from these very nice sellers in China... :)
right the only issue is you have to scrape the rust off the coins 👍🏽🔥🐉
Silver is broken in EU...when you are buying silver you need to pay high premium+absurd VAT in EU and when you want to sell you ALWAYS drop just to actual spot price (if you are lucky) so your silver need to go up like 100% to get even what you pay in first place so silver is just for fun mostly
wow that is such a bummer! 🔥🐉
I wouldn't do this now 30-1 would be great.
I can only imagine 😏🔥🐉
