I’m a recovering addict/alcoholic and silver stacking/collecting has almost replaced that. I eat good and live good and drop almost every extra dollar into stacking/collecting silver. I am finally paying myself back.
Wow nice to hear that man. Good you can convert those bad habits into something good, especially in difficult times.... Cheers and good luck with everything from Belgium
Crazy to think how much money can be spent on those bad habits everyday. Im happy you are directing those funds somewhere that's going to bring you up. Never turn back!
Ahhh, you finally made the distinction between stacking and collecting..and that the two are not really connected, what you do for one does not make that much sense for the other. Good explanation!! I had a friend come to me and ask me about the offer from the Bradford Exchange...the "one of every year of the Silver Eagle" what a "great" deal that is! You buy your Silver eagles for $99.99 EACH!!! I warned him off and explained how he can make much better purchases on his own!
Commercial sales of silver coins and bars in the UK have a 20% Government tax (VAT) imposed on them on top of the dealer's premium which is another 15% (approx), so by the time your silver arrives through your letterbox, it's already only worth two-thirds what you paid for it! Gold bars also have 20% tax on them over here, although for some reason gold coins are tax-free.
Thanks for sharing this. As a new stacker i find some dealers offering up ideas of what i should buy and how i might be going wrong or how i could be doing it better with my fairly narrow approach. But now that i have seen this it gives me some perspective as to why i should stick to my plan and push back some on ideas of what i should buy. I of course should always have an open mind to improving what i am doing, but i do currently have a plan and how to get there and i should stick to it and learn along the way. Great video, very timely for me personally.
My mistake was buying silver Canadian Maples instead of just bulk bullion. When I buy silver now I stay away from premium silver unless it's something i plan to hold onto for a long time
The Bradford exchange is one of the biggest mistakes 100 dollars per 1 oz silver eagle no matter what the year. OH I did buy the Mayflower coin for the fact that my 10th great grandfather william brewster and my 9th great uncle isaac allerton was on the Mayflower.
Great video! I stack silver and gold as a savings account. My wife understands why I stack but she is not really into it. But this video gave me an idea. We both love Disney! In fact we have been Disney Vacation Club members for almost 20 years, usually going to WDW 2X/year. I am thinking about getting her a few Disney coins and see if it peaks her interest in silver.
my wife and I have been considering the DVC because we go so much but haven’t pulled the trigger yet... 9 times in the last 5 years I think and yes we do stay at Disney hotels a lot 🙄 lol... go for it i’ll bet she loves em!!! I bought all of mine off APMEX 🔥🐉
Turtles designs have been my only weakness. Even though I'm a fan of a lot of the works of pop-culture, I'm able to stay fairly practical when it comes to stacking.
Dam, I just made the same mistake your talking about, but not to badly. Making some Major adjustments to get back on line. Thank You Sir, for Your Info...Still the New Kid on the Block.
I buy silver because I'm a collector and as a bonus for my retirement. I don't think the EC8 series is a mistake as long as you like the coins, sometimes I buy coins just because I like them.
I seen that mayflower but I think there trying to make a sale on the strength of the Royal fortune , it’s quite a Coincidence that the mayflower came out right after the Royal fortune I’m staying away from that one
I’ve noticed this happing before with a few coins like the two krakens and a few others . It’s like they see what’s hot and other mints jump on it and get them out ASAP . Mayflower 1oz 4000 mintage 5oz 400 mintage , these numbers sound like a quick release and a trial run to me . (They probably had the dyes waiting after the first black flag and wanted to see how the second went first ) Those are great numbers but there never going to take off like the black flag Series of coins . The black flags are just way to cool . All this is just speculation and my opinion with no real evidence to back it up . It just seemed really funny on the timing
When I first started stacking silver was 30/oz and I must have bought about 200 oz.. I have also bought super high premium coins but as you said I really like the coins and idea behind them. So I will hold onto the awesome pieces until the very end, the rest well that's my retirement haha.
@SilverDragons is one of only a couple of stacking videos on RUclips I can even tolerate. The other ones either talk like a pirate or have some kind of speech impediment that either very annoying or just plain boring. Keep up the good work!
I'm stacking gold and silver gov minted coins, along with junk silver. Do have some generic silver rounds I got at spot. Only non-gov coins I will buy will have to be around spot.
The mistake I made when starting out is buying generic bars. Don't get me wrong they stack the same, but when the price of silver goes up older engelhard bars carry the premium up with them and when the price goes down the price of these drops slower. Just my regret. Stack on everyone.
Noob here, how is it stacking when someone buys coins? They are so far above weight prices that I would call it coin collecting, and the coin has a base value of weight price. As you said, stacking is buying at the lowest price possible. And in the market that is castings, not shiny, not pretty, just an ugly lump of metal. But isn’t that what stacking is, while coins are coin collecting? Thus why you have 4 different “theme series” in your collection (and paid more for each coin per weight) and not just a pile of silver cast blocks. Correct me if I’m wrong.
There are many stackers who consider $20/oz their limit. But I am waiting for the panic to be over and prices to fall back before buying any more Silver.
If they were only $20 and real id eat em up man...if not just leave a comment whos selling for 20...im sure they'll unload as many as they want right now 😉👌
When I started out I bout 2 ozs of poured silver for a lil over $90 I love poures silver but it's not a begginer silver lol but I learned and then started getting cull silver eagles and generics and then moved to poured and 90% after about a year in
Hello, I started stacking by collecting the Perth Mint Kooks because initially I thought they were high quality pieces. I have since sold them all after receiving some with chipped and scratched capsules as well as issues with the coins. I don't even like the subject now! (You need an Eagle, lion, horse... I think). I now only buy the generic coins such as Eagles, Britannia and I am very happy and getting more silver for my money. Lower premium coins should also be easier to sell privately - for instance no haggling over price etc.
Silver Dragons, everyone has a different strategy for picking up Silver! No two people are the same! I'm buying the Mayflower coin, but not the one you think... I've been collecting the Rwanda Nautical Ounce series, and ironically the fourth release dropped, and it too, is the Mayflower 🤭. Definitely important to clearly define what you're "stacking" vs "collecting" I jumped ship (🤪) on the EC8 after #3 as I didn't see past issues perform and I was unenthused about the upcoming designs. Still 8 oz of silver as you say 👍
I was thinking the same thing, especially since silver is going up. I always see collections going for more on eBay, so he could literally let people know it's going to be for sale at a certain price that would be profitable to him and it'd be gone.
I stack and collect. At this point it's impossible to stack without paying premiums. Might as well focus on collections and sovereign bars. Until ASEs price corrects.
I have a question if anyone can help or give advice. I buy silver coins to give to my baby when he’s older and he may have 30-40-50 years from now and in hopes be worth more. Should i stick to Bullion silver coins or just buy silver bars? Thanks very much. :)
I think the Mayflower coin is trying to ride the coat tails of the latest Black Flag release. I thought you were going to say the Marvel coins were a mistake. They are actually some of my very favorite collectibles coibs I own. so much so I just ordered another full set. I know the premiums were ridiculous, but when I thought about it I figured since they are dome of my fav coins what the heck, I want them. I feel after the mint is done sending the last ones these will only gain in premiums and a flipping opportunity may arise like the sold out Spider-Man. Those Caribbean coins are def boring , you should tone them all and breathe some life in to them.
I buy older graded pandas. I anticipate they will go up in value as China is becoming more and more wealthy! If I don’t make money, I will just keep them as a collection because I love the designs.
When you say you buy silver to protect your money value and to protect against inflation in fact silver has not done either of those very well if you look at the recent history. Silver has actually declined in value.
Oh bro, if that is the worst mistake you make then you are golden! I got a RCM zodiac collection and wow, never breakin even on that one! LOL I am more of a collector than a stacker so I often pay way too much for silver! LOL Great vid thanks for sharing!
My plan right now is to buy foreign Silver junk. Most places sell it at spot. I actually picked up some BU Canadian Silver, and even proof, at less than melt. People will let the stuff go.
Are the COVID-19 bars and coins worth stacking or investing in? What do you recommend for flipping? I would like to try and flip just for extra money here and there.
It's not really 'the mistake', if you collect some pieces just for fun. Today, I had a lot of fun, epic grand tour of coin shops, hunting and got: 1x 2015 ASE, 1x 1989 CML, 1x generic silver round with the liberty bell - and 1x 500czk commemorative silver coin with stable, but always high premium, more than double of metal price. While during monday, I got just ten pieces of old silver circulating coins at melting price. That was very good day.
I buy silver because in the UK if you have savings and you fall on hard times because of the economy the UK government won't help you if you have £6000 of savings... They will help you if you have a £100,000 car but not £6000 savings..... Turn all cash into silver its the best and very addictive 😂 🤣
Silver dragons how about this for a plan on the website such as apmex the only thing there that you can buy is because the premiums are lower on bars by kilo bars and then if you're going to buy coins by rounds and you already know the only rounds that you can buy at a decent price is the buffalo rounds they are one of the cheapest thing. Secondary and buffalo rounds or you can do this I know you keep a ledger on how much you pay for everything you have figure out the total amount that you've paid the total amount that all your silver is worth according to spot price and then also figure out how much silver spot price would have to go up to for you to turn a profit just off the spot price value and then buy coins that don't raise it.
@@SilverDragons47 I have a bunch of silver coins that tarnished on me and I've never touched them 🙁. I've found that most sealed coins tend to stay clean and the MS-70 coins hold good value for collecting. But nothing beats any type of gold coin or bar in my book.
I don't touch collectables. You will never make the money back from it. Then you say, "well it is a great gift for family or friends".. Everyone I know would appreciate just getting any type of silver as a gift. The only reason I see for collectables is have something to show to people. Then you show them, they say COOL WOW. But secretly they probably think you are selfish if you don't offer them a piece of silver before they leave.
I don't do numismatic at all. Yes, I have a few treats (poured, Sweet old coins) that I paid over normal price (spot and generic premium) very few. I could never sell silver for more than it is worth. ((Who did Jesus drive out of his Fathers Temple)) I don't think it is a good idea to be a money changer. Profits should come from real value given, not artificial hype. I do understand having silver that feels like a mistake, I have few of Liz's cameos (that is a different issue of mine I have several).
Out of all of those, I have most of those Star Wars ones... ugh, I did get the overpriced Mayflower. Didn't you buy those straight from Scottsdale? I thought about getting some of those, but I didn't.
@@SilverDragons47 I'm in Canada. Is that USD? Find out the complete price in cdn and how much shipping is to Edmonton AB Canada please. I'll probably take them. How many you got?
The only collection that I am in is starting to give me some troubles. I actually like that series but the mint started to get the premiums higher. It started let's say 'x', now is 3x. There are also cases like this, unfortunately! Great video! Thanks for sharing Silver Dragons! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I say for collecting buy coins like MS70 rated. If buying for invest I say buy bars.
yeah slabs are good for collecting! until they milk spot of course lol 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 I have a bunch of silver coins that tarnished on me and I've never touched them 🙁. I've found that most sealed coins tend to stay clean and the MS-70 coins hold good value for collecting. But nothing beats any type of gold coin or bar in my book.
Where did you find the Star Wars and Marvel coins?
What size capsules do you use on silver maples?
Anyone know where you can get that Disney collection from?
I was like that over the black flag silver coins but can't part with £40 for a 1 oz silver coin. Love the coins though.
yeah those are a little more collectible but still not for stacking 👍🏽🔥🐉
Do you think the 2020 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin NGC MS70 ER (Philadelphia) will appreciate in Value like the 2019-S coin?
lol not a chance 🔥🐉
you going to go for Han Solo encased in silver?
I'm waiting for my jar jar binks silver
😂😂😂 they won’t 🔥🐉
I don't touch collectables. You will never make the money back from it. Then you say, "well it is a great gift for family or friends".. Everyone I know would appreciate just getting any type of silver as a gift. The only reason I see for collectables is have something to show to people. Then you show them, they say COOL WOW. But secretly they probably think you are selfish if you don't offer them a piece of silver before they leave.
👍⚪👍 thanks for sharing your mistakes ☑️🔥✴️🎇💸💰
thanks for watching my friend! 🔥🐉
I want to purchase Silver Coin from Bangladesh.
i'd probably try and sell those before disney tanks their reputation/stock even harder
I do understand having silver that feels like a mistake, I have few of Liz's cameos (that is a different issue of mine I have several).
we all gotta get a few treats now and again 😏🔥🐉
Out of all of those, I have most of those Star Wars ones... ugh, I did get the overpriced Mayflower. Didn't you buy those straight from Scottsdale? I thought about getting some of those, but I didn't.
Star wars are awesome! no I got them off APMEX 🙄🔥🐉
But that was probably the best rendition of a crustacean since Sebastian...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🔥🐉
Queens Beast are my addiction lol...
Nice rounds
thanks my friend! 🔥🐉
Moral starts at 9:06
Do not care about the coin, just the silver!
I like the Carribean coins, what do you want for them?
$29 each plus ship 😏🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 I'm in Canada. Is that USD? Find out the complete price in cdn and how much shipping is to Edmonton AB Canada please. I'll probably take them. How many you got?
Unless you are going to grade it, buy it cheap
yeah I hear that! 🔥🐉
The only collection that I am in is starting to give me some troubles. I actually like that series but the mint started to get the premiums higher. It started let's say 'x', now is 3x.
There are also cases like this, unfortunately!
Great video! Thanks for sharing Silver Dragons! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
yeah not all collections are created equally 😂🔥🐉
Yeah! Teach tour kids what real money is! Also, have more kids. We need the world populated with people who understand that.
If you want you can flip those coins to me milk spotted or not silver is silver that don't take away from the value of silver.
yeah I can always melt them as well lol 🔥🐉
eagles and generic rounds and fractional silver, one ounce 5 ounce and 10-ounce bars. All for hedging or to pass onto my kids
proof sets are nice too
hedging and passing on is the way to go! 👍🏽🔥🐉
i only buy 100 oz bars
great way to do it! 🔥🐉
I have a partial tube of misc. stuff that I just like. 😁🇺🇸
gotta have some fun every now and again 😏🔥🐉
Take those mistake silver rounds to your LCS and trade them for eagles!!
