      @@terryduckworth5105 On most of these recipes I think you are able to switch out half of the butter for shortening if you want. I don't want to lead you astray but help! Maybe try it out on yourself first? Good luck!

      I find icing made with shortening to be kinda gross.
      It just covers your mouth in a layer of oil.
      We had a bakery in town when I was a teenager and they used shortening.
      They used it saying the color was more true, and it piped better.
      Which is probably true, but the coating it left in your mouth, I didn't like...

    Just tried this out and it came out very smooth and a dream to pipe. I would however reduce the amount of butter used as I can really taste the butter in the frosting more than it should. Maybe try 400g instead.

    The closest I came to this in my culinary arts days was breaking down a toblerone bar and adding it in a cookie bar that was on the daily menu at a retirement home. 😁It was a "gift" that a resident there gave me a second time because i didn't catch it the first time, deep down i think he was really trying to say he wanted a little flavor variety in cookie bars. I miss working in that kitchen.

    Omg...give me a spoon...these look so sinfully good! I have watched some of your other videos, and what amazing creations! Of course, I watch them when it is way too late to even think about finding a store open to buy anything I need (like LOTS of butter and LOTS of candy bars! I always have the sw. cond. milk) or time to make a cake or something to frost! Just one question...don't you have issues trying to pipe the nuts in the Snicker's one? If so, I would probably just use that one to frost, not to pipe. Whatever, another mouth-watering video. Thank you so much...

      Yes and when refrigerated it sets very firm like normal buttercream.

    Does icing made this way hold its shape?
    I could understand if the one with the candy don't, but I know she does a chocolate and vanilla one.
    If you pipe roses and leaves, or the border will they hold?

    Great video! But can I ask a question? Is there a reason for the difference in methods to melt the chocolate? I mean, is it ok to use the method that you used for the mars for the snickers, or they will only work with those particular components?

    Hi dear, thanks for sharing your recipe. I would like to make alphabet cake. Is this frosting right for that type of cakes? I'm usually using regular buttercream frosting. And second question is can I make it day advance?

      Yes you can. Once decorated and refrigerated, the cupcake frosting will set very firm like normal buttercream.

    Hi just a question though. Can we use home made caramel sauce for flavoring [as u know it also consists of heavy creme for the fine texture]
    And since caramel sauce itself is too sweet what would be the ratio of caramel and condensed milk?

      Last night I watch one of their other videos on how to make this frosting with chocolate, coffee, and CARAMEL! All on the same video, but if you cannot find, they used 1/2 c. of caramel (can, jar, whatever) and the same amount of butter and condensed milk as these recipes.

    I'm always afraid of making frosting like butter creme it never comes out right too sweet I don't like sweet but your frosting you make it seem so simple and perfect I love it!!

      Thank you! I encourage you to try it! It actually isn’t very sweet at all and definitely not as sweet as American Buttercream.

      Use an italian meringue buttercream. Delicious and not sickly sweet like other buttercreams.

      Yes you can. You will then need to bring it back to room temp and re-whip.

    My dear, my condensed milk buttercream was not as creamy and velvety as yours. Is it because I used butter at room temperature? when I added the condensed milk it became liquid. I had to wait for the butter to freeze before using it. Does the butter have to be cold to be as creamy as yours? greetings from Brazil.

      It you are making on a hot day it’s better for the butter and condensed milk to be cold, otherwise room temp is ok. You need to use real butter and one can (395g) sweetened condensed milk. Please don’t use anything low fat, low sugar or margarine as it won’t work.

Do you know if it only works in these proportions: 500g of butter for 300g of condensed milk? because I made it with 200g of butter and 160g of condensed milk, is that what went wrong?

      There's the problem! You ratio is off. You have used too much Condensed Milk for the amount of butter you have used.

      On the other recipes for this frosting, like their coffee, chocolate, and caramel flavors (off of this site), all made with the sweetened condensed milk, they said it could be used to frost, pipe, and was stable under fondant. Maybe go check that out. It is just one video, all three flavors.
