Ah man. I heard this song on the radio three months ago and got the chorus stuck in my head. I didn't know the title nor any of the lyrics - So I've spent all of this time scouring RUclips and Classic Rock Radio stations searching for it. Heard it on the radio in the car this morning (no, this time I wasn't looking for it). I now had radio and a time... In the morning I managed to find tne name of the song, and then had to wait all day because I have no earphones. Just got home... satisfaction at last!
Funny part for me i didnt know this was a song i listened to the eric prydz version i like this one so much better and only reason i knew this existed was because my job had it playing on the big speaker
Next time Google the lyrics you remember and you should easily found out the title of the song. That's what I do when I hear a song on the radio I like but I don't know what it's called.
I remember this song so clearly from 1987, I remembered his songs from the '60s and didn't put it together this was the same guy who was so hard to understand but so worth it if you made the effort. RIP Valerie Carter.
Throughout the 80s and 90s have some of the best eras of music Alyssa just one of the songs Steve winwood doesn't get enough credit as a decent musician
This song made a cameo in a dream last night. God help me. Lol. It was actually great. I was singing the lyrics! I don't even knows them! I got half of them right in the dream! The human mind is something. So many secrets locked within...
@@blackiesun ya that subconscious mind is where the real juices flow I don't think we've even scratched the surface when it comes to utilizing and understanding the minds real potential All of us are so much more than we realize.
You know about 2 years ago my wife and I separated during the time I meet a woman that I feel for hard core I left her to go back to my wife out of fear that I would hurt her of watching my marriage wich was failing at the time the other woman was named after this song and valerie hun I do miss you
Its the longing in the song of a love that might have been or still could.i havent changed im the same boy i use to be. Anyhow thats what i feel its conveying i absolutely love it i get chills and nostalgic whenever i hear it
When I was in college, (University of Missouri 1991-1996) I met a fantastic woman named Valerie near the end of my second year. She moved back and stayed in her home state of Maine after my second year because of money problems. Very quickly after meeting her, I knew that she was wife material and would make a great mother. I was bummed when she told me she wouldn't be returning but I thought in the end, it would be easy to find another woman with her qualities. So...fast forward 27 years later, I still haven't found another.

I'm more familiar with "Call on Me" by Eric Prydz, which samples this song, so it's interesting to hear the original.
In truth , Eric Prydz called Steve winwood in the studio to sing the vocals again ...
Yeah same
Both have their own charm but I think the chorus of the original is better and less repetitive. Great choice for a sample. It's just a great chorus.
Good times
Feels good.
This is the original 1982 version with sparser synths and drum machine. Not sure which is better, awesome song!

Song about Valerie Carter....as is That Girl Can Sing by Jackson Brown. She must have been a very special muse as well as an amazing singer.
Reminds me of my Val.

Need this at the top, so I'm reposting to keep it at the top of newest: 1:01 or 2:17 or 3:33
Valery
I heard this song by Steve Winwood long before I found out there was a different song of the same name by Amy Winehouse
The LinnDrum is heard in this song.
Great song - just wanted to know the lyrics, and they don't often fit the tune. BTW, my name is Valerie.
Mercury call on me.call on me Mercury! Come and see me.im the same girl I use to be
Dedacated to Freddie Mercury
😸😺😻
Lyrics added at the cost of sound quality. Most other lyrics versions of songs sound tons better.
This song almost destroyed Eddie Van Halen's marriage in the late 80's.
