NOT EVEN CLOSE! Comparing Reebok Answer 3 retro to Reebok Answer III OG

- The disappointing but nonetheless anticipated retro release of Allen Iverson’s 4th signature sneaker, the Answer III. I’ll compare it with my old identical pair and see where it falls short.
After the brand announced the release of the Shaq Attaq “MVP,” Reebok will also re-issue the Reebok Answer III, Allen Iverson’s third signature shoe with the brand. Originally releasing back in 1999 and again in 2006, the Answer III featured some distinct design features that was very much a reflection of the times (the stitched upper was compared to the Air Jordan 12, which released two years prior). Additionally, the Answer 3 was the first to feature DMX cushioning, which would become a mainstay cushioning platform for the Answer signature line until it was replaced with the Answer 6.

Underated retro, one of the best A.I.s of all time
Was hoping you did a review on these. They’re not bad, but you just can’t beat the tumbled leather on the OGs. It just looks like a higher quality shoe and more comfortable. I guess Reebok is hit or miss. The leather on the Questions are pretty good (but no DMX). They cheaped out on the Answer 1 (no DMX and painted on gold accents). I’m just glad they brought these back regardless. They gotta release the Answer 2s. That’s the one I gotta have! Excellent review 🤝 thanks for taking the hit for the channel 💸
The Answer 1 was real cheap looking paint and materials. I think a lot of people would forgive the tech if the materials were better like they get sometimes on Questions and Answer IVs. I just miss my DMX tech like we all do 😢 crazy how they still put it on the side of the shoes. That’s why I thought they’d at least have foam in them.

Man all the reviews on the 3’s are turning into a consensus. Everyone’s been waiting for the 3’s. I do like that the sock liner is mesh and not vinyl. Your OG looks like it still has 100 miles. 🔥💯I do not have OG’s to reference, so I’m copping. I usually don’t disagree with Chris from weartesters but I actually said, “I don’t care” to the TV (I watch RUclips on Tv haha) they say if you know you know and you do. Thanx 4 the luv! Yeah they do us dirty on these cheap retros but I’ll never be upset to get a pair of 3s. The mesh lining is definitely gonna be better for longevity but it just sorta defines the whole inferiority of the shoe’s materials and sums up how it just ain’t the same.
I’m still looking forward to the red pair and any other potential colours they drop. 💰💲💸
@@nbarealtalker Welcome. But in our defense 3’s are 170? J’s are 225? And Iversons have never disappointed me when they finally break down like J’s do, so there’s that. Always feel I got my money’s worth on I3’s 💪🏼I think it’s dope reebok is finally dropping 3’s . I still need “tobacco” questions and free agent Kobe answer 4’s all white with the purple outsole 🔥

Man those r so beautiful. The red an white pair are terrible as far as quality goes but man they are still beautiful my 2nd favorite iverson shoe of all time so ill still be coppin all the colorways 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️. I bought the red one from HK (shipped to US) before they announced release here in US, I’m gonna get the black one later. And hopefully the black/white one come out soon, I wore that In 7th grade
Yeah I’ll be copping in any colour but probably be patient for once and get some deals. We probably same generation because I got the Answer IV in 8th grade 👊😎

Reebok has definitely lost its way by cheaping out on retroing the Iverson OGs.
Quality of the original Iverson I3 gear (both shoes and clothing) was iconic to me.
The double-knit jerseys and shorts, quality-manufactured but imposing, brick-heavy Answer I to the slippery, featherweight II when real leather and DMX tech was used.
Would have copped if they made a decent effort to stay true to the OG or restomodded to make a better version.
Yeah kinda makes you wonder why they bother. They barely even tease the release and just throw a used synthetic leather glove out onto the market. Hard to fathom the gameplan.

The white and black looks fresh. I’ve worn these for a bit now and I can vouch that they are pretty comfortable once you break them in. But they still ain’t the same. I also wore the white and black in high school along with the Eastbay “TEAM” white and blues. I still recommend copping but I’d say wait for the sale rack since Reebok ain’t doing $h!t to promote them.

Total difference. Tumble leather looks different. If you paid $250 I say it’s too much. Great side by side.
You got that right. I did it for the love of the shoe game as much as my love of the shoe. I knew they’d suck but figured it was worth being one of the first to know so I could share my authentic disappointment 😂
Will probably wait for the discount days for the red pair.

Where you get the black 1’s from? Thought they only re released the red and white 1’s. I want these 1’s.
I think they re-released them in the recent batch of 1s. BUT mine are 10th anniversary edition from 2006. That’s why they look like the OG’s with the fresh sparkly bottom and bigger DMX tube on bottom.
Nice comparison! I just ordered the main white and black pattern. No DMX is a shame, makes the shoe lighter though. Less durable.

It needs white shoestrings. White shoestrings would make it pop! You should definitely do another video & let us see what white & red shoestrings look like.

damn. I got 3 pairs of the OGs from some overstock place over a decade ago. been slowly rolling through them. on the last pair now.... I saw these and got excited. now im sorta meh. Thanks for the review
“Meh” is a fairly appropriate assessment. Probably worth the disappointment once they hit the discount rack but even I’m gonna wait on the red + white (despite never owning that colour) because I just can’t justify paying this much for cheap imitations. Getting a matching pair for my OG’s in my fave colour was worth biting the bullet to compare them. But despite being one of my GOAT sneaker models, I can’t insult myself paying for anymore of this “meh” quality.

Unfortunately due to rise in production costs you're not going to ever get the same quality. I owned the OGs of these and played regularly in them and have to say where the most comfortable Iverson's I've worn. I owned the OG Questions and Answer 1-5, 9. Though still bought a pair of these in black/white and plan to play bball in them.
You’re right that we will never get that quality back. It’s not just Reebok. Jordan, Nike etc have been cheeping out for years now. These are still decently comfortable but the price point, even for the first drop, is ludicrous.

Ehh... I mean, how much were they in '97? $100-ish? That would close to $200 now, so, while they may be more cheaply made now, at least the retail price reflects that.
I remember my Answer IV were $159.99 CAN in late 2000 ($100-115 USD at the time). I agree with the price point not being too far off. But for the quality, they’re just shooting themselves in the foot with garbage like this.

Def some B's that they use fake leather now compared to the first originals with real leather. Makes me not want to waste my money on them. And the first answers were real leather. Real dmx. The re release are painted and cheap as hell. What a shame. They rip us off

The quality forsure comes up short, but the nostalgia factor alone is a W, I hooped in these as a kid and they were the best shoe I ever owned, been wanting these for again for the last 18 years, so I'm stoked either way
