      For posture in my gramma’s day part of her culture was children were expected to sit against a wall, and use their muscles to support them. Posture then was really important, and it was a sign of a “well brought up child.” As punishment for us grandkids if we missed behaved was to have to do that for 5-8minutes depending on the offense.

      It's always served me well. Love you, miss you, mom... thank you for always being a good example. 😚😇 Ladies, stand up straight and strong. People WILL notice! 💖💚👋

    One thing that makes me more confident is concentrating on doing things that I like. For example: I love dancing above anything, so I decided to create a dance account on instagram and since I have done that I feel more confident and happy than ever because I do what I truly love. Also when you often do things that you love, you will be more happy which then results in having more confidence :)

    For years, I have always felt the most confident and beautiful when I'm gross and sweaty, whether it's after running, working out, gardening, or a day of drum corps rehearsal. I'm not exactly sure why that is, but I think it's because I'm proud of how hard I've been working!! It makes me feel so confident and glowy, even though I look like a mess.

  • @lovetownsend

    I strongly believe in the 'fake it till you make it' motto. Years ago, when I was a kid, I didn't have the personality I wanted, I'd react angry easy or I'd be anxious at night, but then I started pretending I was cool and calm. Years later, I'm much older now 27, and my personality is just naturally that way :) So like you said about forcing to smile, it's a good habit.

    Growing up, I never smiled, I suffered from depression. Nothing has changed. It probably ruins the mood of others and I need to work on it. Because you need to be self aware and realize that the way you behave can affect others around you, even if it's not directed towards them. But this helps remind me that it isn't just the way you look physically, but the way you speak and your mental health can affect attractiveness. It's hard.

    Do you know what helps my posture? Dancing. Not professional, not even good dancing, just giving it your best in your room, anyway you want, it feels so liberating and it loosens up your body. • @OliviaCism
    @OliviaCism 4 года назад +32

    I think that there's a very real/serious reason why so many people often feel more confident on a "good hair day", which is that hair seems to sit better, look better, flatter you more, and your eyes and skin are likely to look brighter and clearer too, on days when your body as a whole is feeling particularly "happy", because of food, exercise, sunshine, sleep, and/or mental/emotional health/absence of stress. Personally I have found that if/when I eat more lightly,, haven't eaten much sugar, have not eaten gluten for at least a few days, and my gastrointestinal tract is calm and uninflamed/unirritated not only do my eyes tend to be brighter and larger, my skin clearer, etc, and my hair just seems to magically lie more flatteringly around my face/on my head, etc, simply "sits" much more beautifully, but my mood is almost always better too. Seriously! :) The hair thing may have something to do with the tiny muscles which hold each hair up at the follicle, and which like all muscles feel more or less achy or light or springy depending on how genuinely rested the body is. And everyone knows about food and mood now. :) I haven't used shampoo to wash my hair, or any other product on it, for years. Completely unnecessary. People used to manage glorious heads of shiny hair with nothing but water and brushing ( and herbs/citrus/nut oils etc according to taste ). Diet is the key.

    Rather than “faking it” it might be more helpful to track back to the trigger of feeling emotional upset, recalling what you believed about the world and self at the time, what images or thoughts were coming up and what happened. Over time this can help us to understand our emotions, and be responsible for them.
    You don’t owe anyone being perceptibly attractive to them, but you owe it to yourself to be authentic so that you may be able to engage intimately and hope to love others deeply and freely.

    Please see a dermatologist if you feel self-conscious of your skin! I never felt like my acne was “bad enough” to justify seeing a doctor, but it always made me feel worse about myself. And I realized it wasn’t getting better with time, even tho I was 22. So I FINALLY saw a dermatologist, and it took a couple visits to get everything figured out (DON’T GIVE UP IF THE FIRST TREATMENT DOESN’T WORK), but now I feel a million times more confident. Clear glowing skin is an instant way to feel better about yourself.

    Thank you so much for this! Advice I’ve always practiced but have felt myself slipping on lately being stuck at home. I think one other thing I’d add to this list is listening intently. When we listen to people who matter to us, it’s important to listen (not to respond), but listen to understand. For some reason, knowing this in the back of my mind when having a conversation makes me remember that not only am I being a confident listener, but hopefully that will provide some attentiveness to someone else to make them feel more confident about themselves (if that makes sense).

    Exercise can be included! It makes you youthful, slows aging and gives a glow to the skin! Also losing weight or being fit is a confidence booster

      You can be an overweight person and more confident than a “fit” person. This kind of stigma, about fat people being self conscious and unattractive, is super shitty. I actually got more self confidence when I gained a lot of weight. You can feel comfortable in your skin at any body shape. 💜

      @cuddle_fish 4 года назад +6

      Joey Snow1 it is a video about “being attractive/having confidence” so that’s why I think this type of thinking, to associate losing weight with being attractive or having confidence is dumb, that’s all!!

    One of my favorites practices for overall confidence is "power poses." Power poses are just ways that you sit, stand, walk ect that take up more physical space. Women especially are taught to be quiet, to be compact, and to stay small and dainty in their bodily movements but I've found that opening up my limbs and taking up more space makes you feel powerful. At home, try sitting on a chair and instead of crossing your legs tightly and "politely," leave room between them. Put your hands behind your head. When standing up, stand with your legs hip distance apart or slightly wider and put your hands on your hips. Open the body up. It's amazing how quickly that exercise can change my demeanor when I'm feeling down or doubtful.

    One thing that really helps me feel attractive is clothing! If what I'm wearing is in alignment with how I feel, I feel super attractive! What helps to amplify that even more is listening to music that fits my mood and strutting down the street. It makes me feel super confident!

    EVERYTHING you said is spot on! I have become a lot better at practicing self care mentally and physically since I’ve started working from home (including posture work, enhanced hair and skin care, and emotional process work). Some smaller things include increased water intake, increased physical activity (even if it’s just a little bump in activity), and LIP care!

    To feel confident when I am in an unfamiliar environment, I imagine that I'm some spy, duchess or celebrity who everyone has turned up to see. They are hanging on my every word and nobody can find fault with me because they'd just admire them. It changes the way I hold myself, the way I speak, move or express on my face. I feel more relaxed, instantly.
    OH! And I also imagine that I'm dancing when I move. It adds grace and rhythm that I've found enchanting when others do it. Added bonus for when you were a flowing skirt or dress, because it swishes!

    I really liked the tips you gave. The streaches especislly are sth I'm going to deffinatelly try! What I don't quite agree with tho is the "fake a smile" tip. I grasp the idea of releasing happy hormones and doing the whole "fake it till you make it" thing, but I find it not to be the best thing in the long run. I did those fake smiles, the fake laughs and the fake happiness. It's not a good place to be and didn't help me on my confidence journey. What I found built my confidence much better is practicing gratitude, getting in touch with who I am and getting comfortable with the streangths, weaknesses, my body etc. It's more work than the fake smiles, but it's something important for everybody to do, because that's what makes you mature. And from maturity comes the greatest confidence. Because you know who you are, what you stand for and that you are imperfect just like everybody else and that's ok. You're important and have something to do and say no matter how far from perfect you may be. Cheers to everyone on this Earth journey :)

      I agree it is not a thing for the "long run". However, it can help tide you over a bad moment, important situation (decisions, interviews, presentations..) and can actually be the first step to the long time change. At least that is my experience - the glimpses of confidence .o) had come with increasing number of the things I managed. And I do not use the word "fake", I prefer to say to myself "I choose to smile" . I am grateful to Maria for being such a sunshine despite the things which I guess were not at all easy for her.Wishing you all the best.
