Thank you so much for your video. We own a Nordhavn40 and have a NorthernLights Generator. Your step by step was amazing. We found your link on the NOG 👍. Today we are going to attempt doing this. Wish us luck 😊
Very informative video as always. One tool I feel should always be on a boat> a strap wrench. The channel locks are a great tool and have a purpose. But to protect parts like gears, I would recommend a rubber strap wrench. It has evenish pressure all the way around and less chance of damage to precise parts. As always, thank you for the maintenance videos. It’s amazing how much “work” these little ships require.
I would love to know the manufacturer of the strap wrench you like. I have tried several in the past, but they always seem to slip. I would love to buy one that works well. Thanks for the tip.
@@boatersdivingguide I use Rigid for things over 4”. It has a web strap that holds really good. I’ve had good luck with the Kobalt (Lowe’s) or the Husky (Homedepot) ones with the rubber strap. The rubber may work better on the gears you were holding. The Kobalt has better reviews online. Hope this helps. Rich
Is generator remanufactured or new? I recall it was a Northern Lights correct if wrong. If it was a rebuild, what parts were reconditioned or brand new? Did you need a special lift to get it down into the boat? How long did it take to receive the generator from the time you placed the order to receiving it?
The generator was new in 2018 from Northern Lights. I purchased it from RPM Diesel in Fort Lauderdale. I think RPM had it in stock. Great company. I used the Warn Pullzall (shown in the 6KW isolation mount video) and had it connected to one fork of a large forklift. The forklift was large enough to have one fork go into the saloon and the other down the boat's starboard side. I lowered the generator in with the Warn winch and then used a hydraulic ram (shown in the cutless bearing video) to move the generator into position before bolting it down. You can see the prep for this in the 12KW refit video.
Your videos are the most complete guides to doing these various projects. Well done sir!
Wow, thanks!

Thank you for your comment. So, how did it go?
I'm just loving all of the maintenance videos. I'm a former USN Boiler Technician, so systems & maintenance makes me happy.
Glad you like them!
I am enjoying your videos. Keep them coming. 👍👍

Great video as always. What gear puller do you have? I like that it has beveled and non-beveled attachments.
Thank you for your kind words. The puller is a ADT-3056 puller.
