    The cheapest I’ve seen a Legion 9 with 14900HX, 32 GB of RAM, RTX 4090, and 2 TB of storage is $3300. A Pro 7i with identical under-hood specs can be had for $2600. It’s even harder to justify the 9’s premium since Lenovo upgraded the Pro 7i to a 100% P3 screen.

    I think Lenovo have improved the chassis on the 7i pro. I just got mine a week ago & it has absolutely 0 flex compared to my friend’s which has some noticeable flex.

    I had the 9i for three weeks just sent it back yesterday. It was a very solid laptop with great performance but it’s super loud. Having the holes in the deck make it sound like the fans are facing you. The screen looks very good but in fast paced games it can look like a blurry mess because the miniled backlight cant react fast enough. I ended up ordering the blade 16 with oled panel. I had the 7i before the 9i and I would recommend the 7i to anyone wanting to mostly game. The 7i has no blur better thermals
    And less noise.

    • @nemesis7884
      @nemesis7884 11 месяцев назад

      im not sure why the 9i would have blur over the 7i? 165 vs 240 hz etc. shouldnt make a difference nor have i heard of mini led being blury? How would you rate the oled screen with regards to screen refelxion and brightness in case you also work on the laptop?

    • @kmdkmd-jz8pv
      @kmdkmd-jz8pv 11 месяцев назад

      @@nemesis7884 the blur comes from the leds not reacting fast enough. You don’t get blur all the time but say I’m playing warzone and I’m outside and there is sky and buildings. When you turn the LEDs can’t react fast enough and it causes a blur or ghosting effect. Coming from playing on oled it’s very noticeable. The higher the contrast the more blur there is.

    Hello Alex, what would your advise be for someone considering between 2023 Legion pro 7i or Blade 16, Not considering price, which would you say is better overall or what are the strengths and weaknesses of each to help make a decision, like heat, noise, performance, ports, keyboard etc, I'm asking to help a friend narrow down and naje a decision, thank you ❤

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  11 месяцев назад +4

      I have a little bit of soft spot for the legion if have to admit.
      I like its keyboard, ports (!!!), noise floor and of course the performance you are getting.
      The display is 50/50; the Blade has the advantage of a MiniLED display, which is fantastic for HDR content but not ideal for work. The Legions display is very good for video work and grading, but not as sexy for eye-candy games, but very fast for shooters and such.
      The Blade has the nicer chassis and is even a bit quieter, but then again, slower than the Legion and quite a bit more expensive.
      So, I would probably go for the Legion or wait until reviews are out for the OLED Blade 16.

    Actually lenovo would be better off rebranding the legion 9i as an 18 inch gaming monster with more space for water cooling, quad ram slots and multiple ssd, similar to the msi titan, but in a slimmer form factor and better build quality; and bring back the legion pro 7 back to the glory days of the legion 7 2022 model. That is what will make the legion truly the standard of gaming laptops.

    Lenovo does have some good sales, but any buyer has to keep their eyes open to see when prices are lower than normal.
    I tested it and found the thin trackpad very difficult to get used to and the palm rest for the keyboard made me uncomfortable. Maybe that's because I have to use my trackpad a lot. This laptop seems to be made for those who use a mouse.
    There are 2 other issues. The first is that the RAM is hard to access and if you are interested in upgrading, the whole motherboard will have to be removed. The second one is the Mini-LED doesn't have the response time of an OLED, although I do like the brightness.
    Let's see what new laptops are released in 2024. One hopeful possibility is that increased competition might force Lenovo to discount this laptop.

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  11 месяцев назад +1

      The trackpad definitely takes some getting used to, but since I mostly use a mouse with such a notebook, it did not bother me much. But as with the shorter palm rest, that will vary by person, so one should try it out before pulling the trigger!
      I would love to know their reasoning for flipping the motherboard: cost-saving, better cooling, easier manufacturing, etc. ...
      I really hope we see some adjusted prices across the board since this year, more than ever, even last year's models will be very, very compelling, especially on the high-end side of things.

      I think these are two very different machines.
      While you might talk about a similar performance experience, the Legion is a much more premium product.
      If that makes it worth the extra cost, well, that is a very personal decision.

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  11 месяцев назад +3

      I get the premise, and no sponsor will ever have ANY influence on our numbers or how we rate certain products. Your guy's trust is most important to us, so we are trying our very best to safeguard that trust.
      It will always be a balanced act since we still have to keep the lights on to maintain our output and improve our quality.
      On a more personal note, I hope I can change your mind about no longer taking us seriously by promising you that the sponsor spot has no influence on our regular content.
      Thank you for voicing your concern, though; it keeps me on my toes to stay true to that promise!
