This is the first time I've watched a 2-hour interview and thought it was too short. Elwes had a fantastic career and is an engrossing storyteller. Kevin and the gang did a great job as usual.
Lovely. I wish you talked just a little bit about Men in Tights tough. I love the movie to bits. Such a great storyteller, Cary is. It would be wonderful to hear his stories about Mel Brooks, Roger Rees, Amy Yasbeck, Richard Lewis and Patrick Stewart!
FANTASTIC interview!!! I don't even remember blinking, I was so mesmerized. What a sweet, interesting, entertaining, and talented man. Loved it! Great guest. :)
About 2 hours gets us to 1987. Sounds like we need about 8 more hours of interview to get to the present day with Cary Elwes. I'd watch it if it is half as entertaining per minute as this was. But seriously, they need him back for round 2.
What an absolute treat, actors from my 2 childhood favourite films, the Princess Bride and Willow. I haven't laughed so hard in quite some time, thank you for making my day and indeed my childhood very special.
I was at his DragonCon panel where he tried to get all thousand of us to crash Amazon by pre-ordering all at once. Foiled by shitty reception but I still ordered the book as soon as I got home. He's just awesome.
I'm 40 minutes in and regarding Andre the Giant's drinking habits, the man was in a league of his own, I recommend googling him and Modern Drunkard Magazine for an article that goes into some amazing details.
This was a great interview but a missed opportunity. I'm sure we all loved the Princess Bride anecdotes but to spend almost 2 hours mostly on the one movie considering that Elwes has had such a long and interesting career working with the likes of Mel Brookes, Bob Balaban, Morgan Freeman, Nicholas Cage, Denzil Washington, Anthony Hopkins, Francis Ford Coppola and so on, as well as his early career in England, there was a goldmine of verbal riches to be had.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. The standard format on a 6 minute TV chat show appearance is to talk about anything under the sun and THEN plug whatever the guest is promoting. You would think that an online talk show appearance (of nearly two hours!) would zig and zag all over the place and not restrict itself to one topic.
Exactly what I was thinking. I don't know if maybe there was some kind of agreement made beforehand that they would only talk about The Princess Bride, but Elwes was so funny and interesting that I was really hoping eventually they'd move on to other topics. I can only imagine the stories he must have from Robin Hood: Men in Tights. This was one of my favorite episodes in a while.
I think it was a mutual decision to keep it to the one movie. Since they both never veered away from the topic. But I've noticed all the shows are long and have a lot of other content. So the actual time the guest speaks is about an hour and half at the most. Maybe less. I didn't measure accurately. Generally this shows don't do a look back at a lifetime of movies in an actor's career. You have to watch a lot of Talk Shows, Panels, Radio, Magazine interviews. And someone asking all the right questions. Which doesn't always happen in one interview. Or read an autobiography to hear all those stories. If they decided to write one. Which I think Cary Elwes definitely should. He's got a great memory. And tells the stories so well.
Anybody interested in movies should read the two books by William Goldman that Cary Elves alludes to. ADVENTURES IN THE SCREEN TRADE and WHICH LIE DID I TELL are both fascinating insider looks from one of our greatest screenwriters.
Once Cary movies end I miss him already. Mr. America won me over, he, Cary lasts like a stick of big Red. Kiss a little longer. I find all his movies fun to watch. Good acting. A+
I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this episode. Cary Elwes was fascinating and, as always, Chat Show, provided the best set-ups, questions, and accompaniments to the great stories (and terrific Elwes impersonations). However (isn't there always an "however"), as a baseball writer I must correct Kevin on the Dave Righetti story. Rags was not a rookie when he pitched his July 4th no-hitter in 1983, he was a rookie in 1981. The no-hitter occurred in Righetti's 68th MLB appearance. In the game against the Red Sox, Righetti walked four and whiffed nine winning 4-0. I apologize for being a baseball nerd and I hope I do not come off as a pedant (a person who annoys other people by correcting small errors and giving too much attention to minor details). Finally (I know you presumed that this would never end), happy birthday to Wallace Shawn who today is 71 as inconceivable as that may be.
Don't be mistaken, Bill. You're not annoying us by correcting small errors or giving too much attention to minor details. You're annoying us by writing a full paragraph about shit no one cares about and then pretentiously including definitions of the unnecessary words you use inside parentheses.
Does it sound good as it should?yes. The princess Bride I search beyond what others bring to the table. It feels good I interpret believing the majesty of a marriage destined for success. Keepsake a gigantic blur coming to now every eye catching scene lingers.😍😋😊😉
You fell victim to one of history's classic blunders. The first is, never get involved in a land war in Asia. But only slightly less well-known is this. Never trust a Sicilian when death is on the line.
As a Dodgers fan, that shit cuts deep Kevin. And you're right, I'm fooking eating shit right now. I'd rather the Yankees win. I'd rather the Red Sox win. I'd rather eat shit in real life...
Madonna whose that girls accent is kinda British tool in comedy of how elwes appears to us with his. So funny it hurts I find so similar now esp. I'm catching up. Are they together has me by the bone.
I am 43 and I never saw this movie until a week ago after seeing the Rob Reiner interview on this channel. I immediately pulled up the movie on IStream in Kodi and watched the movie till the end and I thoroughly didn't like it. Maybe it's something you have to see as a kid. I saw The Neverending Story as a kid and I still like it to this day for reasons of nostalgia.
It doesn't matter how old you were when you saw it. You either like it or you don't. I know plenty of people who saw this movie for the first time as adults and loved it.
Saga king I still like candy so I take as much as I can even though they hurt my jaw anyway the point is Saw it tears my teeth apart blue days hope to see not a been seen like Saw. 🍬 cash is a lotto for those bingo fans number ?😋
I like this show, but I get the feeling that, with very few exceptions, Pollack doesn't seem to know anything about his guests, other than the greatest hits everyone knows. He's the most disinterested interviewer ever. That's, I guess, the good thing (congenial, broad appeal) and the bad thing (frustrating, unnecessarily superficial) about the interviews.
That's true at times, however I feel like in general he knows a TON and someone makes a 'dossier' of research for him for the interview where he usually goes all the way from like childhood through the career. This time wasn't really thorough though. There are people he knows more about, but I definitely think that's an unfair characterization. Samm also knows a lot.
Names bury the cod. Who gives a say note note for spoke ink bleh. I love the new movie news now being blown popped bazooka most.cure the miss........got me miss America yeah beat the clock 🏧

I read the book&it was written in such a lovely way. I wish he would write more books I would read them all
Cary’s such a charismatic, funny man... Much like Kevin, himself. Loved listening to and watching them both having this fantastic conversation!
I had no idea Cary Elwes was so good at character voices.

Cary Elwes is the MAN,the KING,the best of his authorities.❤️ God bless you Cary!!
I went and bought the book almost immediately after seeing this "chat." Awesome book, and actor... Thanx for the share Kevin.
Good movie. Saw it when it in theatres. Very vivid. U can't forget it.
Next to Tom Hanks, the second best interview I've seen. What an incredible mimic. Great Job, Kevin.
What an absolute treat, actors from my 2 childhood favourite films, the Princess Bride and Willow. I haven't laughed so hard in quite some time, thank you for making my day and indeed my childhood very special.
People don't talk nearly enough about Willow
This was absolutely fantastic! I hope you we'll have an opportunity for another seating with Cary Elwes in the near future.
An awesome talk which danced around my sleepy head now I am feeling pleasant ville.😊
I was at his DragonCon panel where he tried to get all thousand of us to crash Amazon by pre-ordering all at once. Foiled by shitty reception but I still ordered the book as soon as I got home. He's just awesome.
When he does the set nurse 🤣🤣
Love Cary Elwes telling funny stories. ❤️❤️
Mr. Pollack: love your show-- love this episode especially. Well done, sir.
Dang. He pretty. Like, still really pretty.
I'm 40 minutes in and regarding Andre the Giant's drinking habits, the man was in a league of his own, I recommend googling him and Modern Drunkard Magazine for an article that goes into some amazing details.
Really nice interview. Thanks guys.
Books are not dragging in my parlor they just sit there as a showing for those reviews. What a sight young ones esp. the lion king Disney. 🦁
Elwes doing hey hey hey... inconceivable!

hes promoting his book which is about behind the scenes of Princess Bride. thats why its all one topic
dcanmore they were only talking about his book.
This is fabulous :)

What fun it is to dive like a super hero just speaking with you. On the mark a beauty.

But Cary will always be Jonas the night crawler, to me.
He went out and got some corporate sponsors
