    I feel your pain of loss as western North Carolina deals with massive loss from Hurricane Helene. People are still missing three weeks later. Condolence from Charlotte, NC.

      A large section of the lower mainland is a floodzone. Civilization has settled along the flood zone for various reasons which include more fertile land and access to water. While we're gotten better at water management and mitigating flood risks, we're not totally immune to them.
