@@CBeard849, don't worry, I have a life plan now that I actually really like so that I have something to edit into a solid lifestyle I'm happy with when my last 8 years of education are done.
Jared. I am 52...a steam boat up the inside passage been my dream...I need to get started before it's too late for me....I got hooked watching the African queen with Humphrey bogart as a kid....
The Klamath Area Is worldwide known for the longest recreational steam railway on the banks of the river at Klamath Falls . Seeing Steam on the lake and knowig about the Railway at the banks of the river makes my day ! I am a steam nut from Germany and a member of a steam MES for about thirty Years now and I don´t regret a second ! Full steam ahead !!!!!!!
Just bought my first steam engine. It’s a 5hp stationary vertical. I think the reason the hobby is dying is you need to be a machinist and very mechanical and have an expendable income. Having all that is rare in itself.
My Great-grandfather was really into steam power and steam powered boats. I actually by chance met someone who owned one of his old boats years ago in Oregon.
How wonderful these folks having fun like that! Too bad Klamath doesn't have a larger version to take tourists out for excursions! I'd be over there from Medford a lot more!
I've become quite obsessed with steam powered everything since I bought an estate. The guy who died had lots of steam powered things I didn't know what any of it is. Now I know what the mechanical oilers are the pressure/relief valve. Started building Hemingway kits. I've been machining parts on my metal shaper in the garage and bending up steel on his Anvil. I was going to sell a steam engine, boxed it and had it sold and by the time the guy wanted to pick it up. I would love to get involved in this hobby. Such cool boats. I was told the guy I bought the estate from was a steam boater. Ive got cases of brass couplings, oilers, valves, copper tubing. Decided to keep it all for when I can get into steam more. Can't have every hobby can we? Building a broiler is a very spooky thing, especially when you have never even seen one in person really.
Imagine a City a little similar to Venice, but it’s on the shore of one of the Great Lakes, and the people of the city, instead of using Cars on roads, they use steamboats like this through canals to get around. Maybe, instead of boating in these steam boats on Klamath Lake, they should do steam boating on The Great Lakes.
I perform as Mark Twain in Hannibal, MO, and we're having our city's bicentennial this year. The state's bicentennial is in 2021. The Mississippi river is too mischievous to plan an event ahead of time but there is a large body of water, Mark Twain Lake, close by. How do we entice these operators to show up?
Just depends on your source of fuel. In 40 years of Steamboating my father has spent a TOTAL of $25 on fuel... For my boat I have to use kerosene and I get about 8miles to the gallon at 8mph.
my dad's family used to build these boats as an child he mentioned that to me when i showed him this video this morning, i've been an fan of steam boats for a while now i can't wait until i can build my own steam boat
We live by a few lakes, if I saw one of those boats it would be really hard to resist getting one. Putting one of those on a lake here Might be the start of more boats here or, club. Birds of a feather Stick together!!!
I know they safe and professionally made...still...they are thinking time bombs.....and the one tha say(WHAT)...LET ME KNOW IF YOU UNDERSTAN IT LIKE THIS....IT GO BOOMBOOM ANYTIME GO BYEBYE WHEN YOU LESS EXPECT🤣
The sound of a steam whistle is just something else.
Sounds like a living thing echoing trough the terrain.
We need to get the younger generation involved to keep this hobby going. I just bought one last year to restore and get going, I can't wait!
I mean I'm interested at 16 just no money to do it
I already have an idea for the steamboat I want to build when I'm older (I say this because I'm only in middle school
Follow your dreams Jared.......don't stop!

Cool, when I said steamboat I meant a steam launch, something I could actually build on my own time, as for your dream, best of luck mate.
Jared, gather lots of books and read all about it. Definitely take a Machine Trades/Tool and Die class and you'll be ahead of the game!

I think some vendors sell reproduction compound steam engines which you could use. However, I’m not sure if they’re just models or actually function
Sadly true.
Yeah sadly true

Ngl I would love to make one for myself one day. Thats an extremely expensive proposition though...
Man. I'm really disappointed. I lived in Klamath Falls from 2013-2016 and this is the 1st time I've ever heard of this.

There are companies that build boilers to blueprints if you need it
Squeaks are normally symptom's of at least one successful night. Two squeaks is better than one but worse than 3. This is our global reality.

I'd think they'd give you the choice between roasted or steamed hotdogs.

This is my dream!
This is why Oregon should be more popular
I’ve been hooked for decades. Wish we had a steam club here in TN
That boat uno i would convert it back to a sail boat
would've been nice to learn the cost per mile, and performance
I think the term is how many cords of wood to a mile...
