Cooper got the news that he was a grandfather, and immediately afterwards the news that his grandchild had died. Imagine that feeling so heartwrenching
In my opinion, this is the best movie of all time. I’m kind of a space nerd, astrophysics is one of my hobbies haha. Great cast, great acting, great writing with actual science behind it. Love it ❤
You know... I like how movies have mystery, and their sudden reveal is always so fun to watch. But you, Colette... you are too sharp. I brace myself to be disappointed that there will not be any magical reveals. However, the disappointment is easily washed away with how well you dissect clues and predict the future. You are stunning, smart, and all around very interesting package that you share with us all. Well done. Thank you for the watch, as always.
I love the character of Dr.mann(Matt Damon) Because he represents "mankind"😮 You notice how all the other characters before going into space Talk about how Doctor Mann is this great leader, Great scientist, great man And when the crew "rescues" him all he does is think about himself Does horrible things to get away with it And even tries to justify it because he was "tested"😮 Human beings have the ability to be great or to be cowards And that is what Dr.mann Represents😮
Yes. Mann definitely represent the very worst of humanity. Thankfully few people are truly as horrible as him. As a nitpick I always like to point out that the simplest of psych evaluations would have excluded him from this mission but then we would not have this amazing story :D
My favorite thing in Nolan’s writing is the subtlety. He can have a grand story but make it feel very real. This movie takes place in the future and it doesn’t have to beat you over the head with it. He makes movies that just get better with rewatched. So good
Christopher Nolan killed it, Matthew McConaughey killed it, Hans Zimmer killed it and everyone involved in this movie killed it. Absolute phenomenal movie
Having personally watched dozens of reactors watching this movie since its my favorite movie of all time, i can tell you, you have the best reaction i have seen of this movie, you are smart and understand the premise of the movie before it happens, i can tell from the reactions i have seen from you that you understand how writers and actors work. i can say you are one of my favorite reactor i have watched. Nobody i have watched understood twists of the movie like you did, and your raw and honest reaction was so refreshing.
I went to school for Animation. I always dreamed of working at Disney or Pixar. I love acting, and acting analysis and amazing performances. So many similarities between animators and actors! So I love hearing your perspective and your channel!
It is worth noting that INTERSTELLAR was the first Matthew McConaughey movie to come out AFTER he won the Best Actor Oscar. McConaughey won for DALLAS BUYERS CLUB (2013), where he plays an AIDS patient (both he and Jared Leto won Oscars for that movie, with Leto winning Best Supporting Actor). Worth watching for sure.
WIRED magazine did a special issue release about this film and its topics and after seeing this in theaters I practically ran to the store to buy a copy! I read that thing front to back!! 🤩
Saw this in IMAX opening weekend it was one of the best theater experiences of my life. 10 yr anniversary of this movie is being released for a week back in theaters in December
What a wonderful reaction Colette. I hope you've managed to see it now in IMAX. I was fortunate to see it in IMAX in London just a couple of weeks ago and it blew my mind.
Oh, and thank you for not swearing like other reaction channels… the reason it is important is because I like watching reactions with my children… and the people that swear every other word doesn’t make it comfortable watching with children.
It's a big leap of faith going from what one's been trained to do and step into a role of creator. You have done well, and hopefully the channel rockets past your dreams. Remember we as artist regardless of the media we work with are all children at heart. The wonder of the world never faded in our hearts. We embrace our our imagination and let it play. "We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars, Now we just look down and worry about our place in the dirt." One of the best quotes of Nolan's movies
Legit my favorite movie of all time, love Christopher Nolan, beautiful movie, and hanz zimmer my facorite modern composer, breathtaking soundtrack and yeah as someone else said in the comments, Dr. Hugh Mann (Human) (Matt Damons character) is a great character, to represent humankind the selfishness of ourselves, knowing we can be saved at the press of a button, that it takes really a genuinely gret person few of a kind to give their lives for the betterment of humanity.
This is quite possibly the most beautiful Sci-fi film ever made: if it doesn't hit you hard in the feels, you're not human! - but as great as this film is across the board, it's made a 1000 times more epic by the amazing score by Hans Zimmer, the music's a character in it's own right & among his finest work! Apologies if you've already seen them, but if not then I'd recommend 'Sunshine' (2007) and 'Arrival' (2016) - both great Sci-fi gems! 😊❤
I watched this 1 month ago for the first time, while in the plane flying to Japan. Ofc I had heard the music before but man I did not expect the story to be equally as good, if not better. I did not expect this from a movie I randomly decided to watch to pass time like that in a plane on a whim, that could have been any other. And the funniest part is, the very next movie I watched references Interstellar. It was one of them Thor movies
After watching this movie so many times I realized its circular. The ending causes the beginning by allowing Cooper to send coordinates to his past self through a black hole, which kickstarts the mission
Colette: This looks like it's going to be a great reaction, with commentary not only on experiencing the movie, but about the script and acting and production techniques. So I shut it off! That's because I'm heading over to Patreon tonight to subscribe and watch the full length reaction instead!🎬
It is very ironic that Cooper sabotaged Brand's vote to go Edmund's planet. It was indeed the better choice because the data was more promising and indicating habitable for life but Cooper twisted it around saying it was because of her emotions while in fact he was the one giving in to emotions wanting to visits the closest planet just so that he could get back home as soon as possible.
The blight causes plants to die, but not through suffocation. The die-off results in reduction in oxygen generation through photosynthesis, so oxygen in the atmosphere gradually decreases as it is consumed.
If you like Christopher Nolan films, You HAVE to watch Inception. One of my all time favorite movies. Watch Oblivion with Tom Cruise as well. Great science fiction film!
Not sure if anyone has commented this already, but if you listen closely during the scene where Romilly dies when the robot blows up, you can hear the robot say "Please, don't make me-". It was rigged to blow if someone tried to access the data.
1:08:08 yeah Murph did "solved" it (she didn't, she just got it solved by tars/Cooper). They could send those huge ships becouse thats what the equation was for, harness gravity. Only because of that, they could ship people out of earth. That was plan A
27:39 if given the option to go. Realistically i don't have the skills to be part of a 1st wave but i would love to be like a 2nd wave colonist where there are facilities established and they need tradesmen
Just imagine if Mann didn’t push the button, it would have only been plan B. Makes me wonder if something ,that knows all outcomes ,and has the ability to set events in motion to achieve outcomes it wants… you deep do you wanna contemplate, it’s endless possibilities.
What?!?! So funny when you say that. Great assessment of the movie so far. I have officially watched Interstellar over 70 times and have watched every reaction to it on RUclips… some of them dozens of times. I am a movie fanatic … looking forward to the rest of the movie with you. PS - ARRIVAL
The gravity problem was figuring out how to get the space stations built on Earth off the planet to Saturn. That would enable humans to eventually go to the new planet. Murph figured it out with the data from her dad and TARS so Plan A is a go.
I worked on the Space Station project, and it is actually a solved problem, though we haven't taken one to Saturn yet. The Space Station was launched in smaller pieces that were assembled with the help of a large robot arm and astronauts in spacesuits. A current project is to build a smaller one in orbit around the Moon using the same method. Electric propulsion is slow but very fuel-efficient. It is already in common use to move around satellites, and will be used on the lunar station to maintain orbit. Put a big enough solar panel on it and it could get as far as Mars. At some point it becomes more efficient to use local materials from the Moon and asteroids rather than hauling everything from Earth. We have been turning mineral ores into useful products for thousands of years on Earth. So we know how to do it. There simply hasn't been enough reason to set up mining and fabrication in space yet, though experiments on the Moon and Mars are already testing how. My user name comes from my work on "seed factories". That's a starter set of tools and machines that you use to make more tools and machines from local sources. That way you don't have to send a whole factory to, say Mars. You send the starter set and plans for the rest to bootstrap up to a full factory.
This movie kills me. Anything that involves a father and daughter just destroys me. I have three daughters, and it’s hard to watch movies like this without imagining being in the shoes of the characters.
I could have sworn that you already reacted to Interstellar, since I think I've watched every reaction of this movie on YT. For me this is the best movie of all time and I watch a lot of them. *Can't believe you wouldn't go to space 😆 . Small number of people can say thru all time, statistically you have a higher chance of becoming a billionaire than going to space, that's living.. *I met a girl that went out of the cinema because this movie was boring to her. Don't know what's been of her since then 🤷♂ *You look hot af more so liking this work of art :D, even with that shirt with that word..😆 *Hans Zimmer is the GOAT. * a lot of asterisks.
I don't think you spoiled it for yourself by looking up when it took place because most people who watched it knew it was set in the future fairly early in the movie. I have not seen a reactor think it was set in the 1960's. Most people in the 40's, 50's, and 60's weren't farmers. It is also Hans Zimmer, not Zimmerman.
Based on current trends, an advanced climate change induced ecological breakdown like "the Blight" depicted in the film could occur by the late 21st, early 22nd century. The technology featured in the film, used clandestinely by Cooper and NASA, featuring advanced AI robots, cryo-sleep chambers and space shuttles also fits with this time period.
I'll subscribe before i even watch it... For one month you watch my top 3 favorite movies ( Hacksaw Ridge, Schindlers List, Interstellar) + bonus Gladiator.... Amazing job!!!
A GREAT reaction to a Fantastic movie! 10/10. But... I will NEVER understand why they went down to Miller's planet. They knew of the time-slip beforehand. There is no data to be had since Miller only maybe recorded hours of it. Cinematically I TOTALY understand it, the waves, years of messages etc. But there should have come up with a better reason...
Interesting how this movie was made before the current situation where you have governments attacking farmers and destroying farmland. Not difficult to see who the real problem is. She is doing exactly what Murph is doing, placing who own feelings ahead of mankind. I liked the movie, but it is very "cerebral" and I think difficult for many to understand. 2001 a Space Odyssey was the same. One of the greatest Sc--Fi movies ever made but many didn't understand it.
