Many thanks for this. I last sailed aboard her as the new Prins Filip in 1993 or 94 on the Ostend Dover Line. She was magnificent then, and seemed the largest ferry in Dover next to the Pride of Dover. She looks amazing after all these years, but has been significantly refitted. There was a lot of glass, marble and brass in her original interiores.
I know it’s slightly different but I have worked for ferry company Hovertravel on the Isle of Wight for nearly 6 years as a cashier and to be part of almost 60 years of hovercraft history is quite something, when I wear the uniform I wear it with nothing but pride, started out as an apprentice in 2017 and never looked back
I worked on board her 20 years ago when she was P&O Stena’s Aquitaine - she’s had several different owners since (LD lines, DFDS etc) seems to have changed a lot inside but from the video she looks well maintained
Hi James. Thanks for watching! I have a blog on my website www.a2bviasea.co.uk depicting the history of Isle of Innisfree; there are LOADS of interior photos from over the decades. It may bring back fond memories for you. In the drop down tab at the top just go to BLOGS then FERRY BLOGS. Enjoy!
Just purchased the book “Isle of Innisfree” “a ship of 10 lives” by George Holland, it’s a really fascinating read. This ship is now over 30 years old having been commissioned in 1992 as the Prins Filip” The fact that this veteran is still going after all this time is testament to what a bit of TLC can do, I’ve never been on her but I’d love to do a round trip one day. She looks splendid inside and out
Hi Josh. Merry Christmas and thanks for watching! A detailed blog of Isle if Innisfree can be found on my website www.a2bviasea.co.uk Just go to blogs, then ferry, then scroll down as ships listed alphabetically. There are over 100 photos of her interior from 1991 to present day. Let me know what you think. Myké Facebook: A2B via Sea Instagram: thebearded_blogger
Hi. Thanks for watching! Yes, still very DFDS inside. There is a detailed blog on my website www.a2bviasea.co.uk of this ship as the DFDS Calais Seaways. It shows how her interior has changed over the decades. At some point I will amend the blog accordingly to show her new livery and interior
We’re going on Irish ferries in June from Dover Calais driving to our Casa in Sucina Spain 🇪🇸 looking forward to seeing how the ship is myself 😃 P&O should be stopped from using this crossing and let other ferry companies pick up their crossing 👍🏻 I know P&0 sacked the workers for having a decent living wage but it doesn’t make them worthy of the lucrative English channel route 😫 The other shipping companies probably pay low wages but have done for years so they’re used to it!! I personally won’t use P&0 ever again. P&O staff should take the generous pay offer and hopefully find new jobs with other shipping companies 🤩 As an old time European lorry driver I used all the different shipping companies and they’d used cheap labour for years. I do Ireland 🇮🇪 occasionally from Heysham and Dublin and they all use Polish crew 🙄
Hi. Thanks for watching! They are great ships, especially the Isle of Inishmore. Have you seen my walk about tour? I will be publishing blogs to my website www.a2bviasea.co.uk so hopefully you can read them before you travel. #irishferries is introducing a 3rd ship in the Dover/Calais route soon-the Isle of Inisheer. I will post footage on this RUclips channel as soon as she is in service. Do you subscribe to this RUclips channel, A2B via Sea on TV?
@@A2BviaSeaonTV no worries, I found the duty free website for the ship but it only listed cigarettes. I’ll have a goose soon enough when I’m onboard 👍🏼
I hope wilth everything that is happening with p&o ferry's that irsh ferry's and DFDS do very well on this route I used to travel with p&o alot on this route but now I will boycott them
I’m crossing in late July on this ferry. It was a toss up between Irish or Dfds. Won’t be entertaining P&O ever. The up shot with Irish Ferries too is that you can redeem your Tesco points towards your booking saving some money 👍🏼

Still distinctly DFDS inside. Wonder if they'll change that when the next refit comes around...

What’s the duty free like onboard for cigars?
Hi. Thanks for watching. I do not know specific costs however, tobacco and alcohol products are advertised as being up to 50% off UK highstreet prices
