@@marcg.3830 The kind of guy that whines about "spending that kind of money" while looking at a fleet trim truck probably shouldn't be buying a new truck in the first place. The Custom trim is an extension of the WT trim. The dealer has it on the lot for the same reason I'm willing to bet they have a Ford XL trim on the lot. And I bet you defend all kinds of cheap things Ford does lately, like routing oil pump belts behind timing chains in the 2.7 EB and 5.0 Coyote. Or Ford using those garbage plastic oil pans. Or the warped dashes on 2015-18 F-150's because of the garbage plastic Ford was using. Or Ford using failure-prone EGR coolers on the 2.7 EB when they don't use one on the 3.5EB. Or Ford using plastic on their engine exhaust heat exchanger (w/ Powerboost engine option) so that it warps and creates a big coolant leak.
Ironic that you whine about truck prices, and then simultaneously criticize GM for not putting a more expensive interior in the fleet trims, which is exactly the kind of thing that has driven truck prices up.

The data I intially found was incorrect. This info was found on the Ford 2024 F-150 webpage states: 2.7 ecoboost = 2015-2016 375 ft-lb @ 3,000 rpm. 2018-2020 400 ft-lb @ 2,750 rpm. 2021+ 400 lb-ft @ 3,000 rpm. So, both GM & Ford make their max torque @ same 3,000 rpm. GM makes 30 ft-lb more torque than Ford. Torque, not horse is needed in towing. So, why does the Chevy (or GMC) "just does not pull as well" w/ 30 more ft-lb of torque? That does not compute.

I don't like the look of the Silverado or the F-150. I bought a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation 2.7 Turbo. So the exterior of the Sierra blows the Chevy and the Ford out of the water. I got a loaner vehicle with about 3,000 miles on in for 18,000 off sticker so basically a 60k truck for 42k. Has the 22+ GM Premium interior so makes the comparison to the Ford a little closer. Still think the Ford a hair nicer but the GMC also nice. The 2.7 Ecoboost must be hella nice because driving a 2.7 and a 5.3 GMC back to back I preferred the 4 cylinder 2.7. If your going V8 you have to get the 6.2, which I didn't want to pay for nor is it even offered on the Elevation trim anyways. In conclusion, Ford IMO makes a better base level truck and a better King of the Road Truck (Raptor R) but in between I prefer the Chevy/GMC even though on a luxury level the Platinum is beating a High Country. The GM's just look better at the end of the day.

The only people who are buying these Chevys' are ones looking for the cheapest truck or blind brand loyalists who would buy a chevy even if it is a proven dumpster fire.

      GM Turbomax 310 horse / 430 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. Ecoboost 325 horse / 400 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. Very comparable. GM 30 ft-lb more torque, but 15 less horse. Ford 3.3 was an absolute slug - 290 horse, but a terrible naturally aspirated 265 ft-lb torque @ 4,000 rpm. Shitty tow rating, doesn't even compete w/ turbomax.

@@redd7188 But it was when the 2.7T became the base engine. The 3.3 was the base engine until 2024. GM doesn't change engines every single year the way Ford does.

@@jmc6000 I don't see any reference to an EGR or EGR cooler in any documentation on the engine. I also don't see any parts, OEM or aftermarket, for an EGR valve or EGR cooler for the GM 2.7.

The Chevy Custom kind of looks like a 2016 Raptor, a cheap one anyway. Come on Chevy, be better.

I love Chevy they need to upgrade their interior for the Turbo Max. I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Ford!
