- This is the long awaited Accurascale class 66. This particular model masterpiece is class 66507 in the stunning green and yellow Freightliner livery.....just amazing...
This model is also equipped with a Lok Sound V5 decoder from ESU. This is easily accessible via a neat top mounted cover that is magnetized to the rest of the body, This almost doubles up as the exhaust pipe and exhaust muffler...clever..
The overall model to the paint work to the little details on the chassis, bogies and cab interiors is nothing less than incredible, it really is and it runs beautifully as well.
Would i recommend getting one, If there are any left......most definitely. Just brilliant...
Enjoy.

How many cups of tea have you spilt going up those stairs lol
🤣🤣..Too many, I have put my tea on the stairs before, went up stairs for something and forgot that I put it on the stairs an then stepped in it....oops...lol. 👍
Excellent review i only run BR and slightly later on my TMD layout cl31s cl45s cl47s cl55s although having just lost my dear wife, Ive felt compelled to purchase the orange one, Dedicated to the samaritans, Take care good one
So sorry to hear about your wife. Thankyou so much, if they have any left you should get one, it's a great hobby to keep your mind active. Cheers. You to. Be safe. 👍
@mrmartinb1615 My orange 66 Samaritans arrived today! Makes my cl45 look old, Thankyou for your last comment, Take care.
@@tonyrobinson362 congratulations on your new delivery. Enjoy. 👍
Martin the NCE controller goes upto F29
@@tonyrobinson362 Thankyou, I did have a little play round with the controller but it's definitely an operator issue. 🤦♂️🤦♂️Lol. I'll read into it when I get time to take the info in. Thanks again. 👍👍
Hi, what a great loco, but wrong period for me, well that stops me buying one at least. You mentioned the NCE Powercab only have F0 to F11, that's not actually true. If you press Shift+Headlight, you access F12 to F19, do it again and you get F20 to 28. Might help your brother that! Enjoyed the video, thank you. All the best Dave.
Shame, cos they are amazing...at least you know what you want and that'll stop you from over spending...hopefully, lol.
Now that is interesting to know, I knew it wasn't 11, just a number I had in my head at the time lol, but I definitely didn't know about going up to F28, thankyou for letting me know and I'll try and use it when I open the next unboxing and run the loco. Thankyou again Dave for the info and glad you enjoyed the video. Plenty more to come. 👍👍
@@mrmartinb1615 Well I am not quite so careful with my money, as I have a Class 50 on order with Accurascale............Had to bend my period slightly to make that one fit, D423 in blue.............But it is just one a year, mostly!
@@stretchedits 🤣🤣🤣🤣...just don't tell anyone that you bent your rules..lol...
I bet it'll be awesom when the 50 comes ou, if its anything like the thunderous class 37 it'll be amazing. 👍
great review waiting for mine to arrive its just a shame Accurascale did not make No1 end cab roof magnetised for fitting of a crew, super video all the best
Thankyou. Very true with the roof, I'll have to find out if the cab floor can come away easily. Thankyou bud, appreciated. 👍
Hi Martin, very good in-depth review of a great loco, it shows how things could have been if Hatton’s developed it further in my opinion, the sound of the Hatton’s model is awesome and thunderous with the EM2 speaker and Legomanbiffo sound file, if Accurascale had made the dashboard light up and included the BR blue large logo model I would have ordered one, if they decide to do the livery on a possible second run then I will buy one straight away, I have a few Bachmann models that run very well indeed so I’m not in for a Hatton’s upgrade at the moment, I’ve seen a picture of a Network rail yellow class 66 and it looks amazing, if they decided to produce it then I would order one immediately along with a Harry Needle orange livery model as well, I can but bream, thanks for sharing.
Hey hey, hope your well. Thankyou so much👍. Ya the loco is pretty amazing I have to admit. Oh 100% agree on what Hattons could of done, it's amazing even in the time that that was made how far model have progressed....E.G. removable roof panels, removable shell with no screws holding it on etc.
I never did a back to back sound test with my brothers Hattons class 66 model, but to be honest it does sound a bit nicer.
Now I have to admit to you I would of liked the dash to light up, I didn't see anything in the instructions. Shame.
As far as I'm aware they are producing nearly all liveries of the class 66, so watch this space......ya and definitely don't hesitate to buying one.
To be fair the old Bachmann class 66s run so well that there would be zero point in getting rid of, its only the details, but when it's running on a layout who is going to really notice it.
Hey you can make that dream a reality. Lol...
Your more than welcome, thank you again for the support and comments. 👍
Soz about the mis-spelling of dream*
@@mrmartinb1615 The dashboard lighting up on the refurbished Hatton’s model would have been a great addition, in my opinion the Hatton’s model has a serious bass that makes my test bench shake like no other loco I have, if Accurascale had kept the chassis space to fit a EM2 speaker I would have ordered a model straight away, for me they’ve taken away the thunder of one of the best sounding locos I’ve heard to date.
@@StormmyStormmy In real life 66's aren't very bossy tho, and the accurathrash and sugar cube and stay alive provide a much more accurate and pleasant sound
@@StormmyStormmy Trouble of fast typing lol.....I'm always having to recheck things. 👍👍
the green on the body looks like a tint of blue might be your camera but dont match the ones at my works in southampton docks
Wow, that's interesting, to be fair I would probably say it's the lighting in the attic and the 'oldish' phone camera. 👍👍
You need to up your biscuit game mate.
Edit: also your brother can reconfigure his Powercab to utilise up to i think 29 functions if he feels the need. It's in the manual how to do it.
Ya tell me about it, over time I'll get a better camera as and when I'm ready etc.. Too busy buying trains..🤣
Thankyou so much for the info.. Will look into about the controller as some else has mentioned it as well Thankyou 👍
Superb review, and really interesting and informative!
Thankyou so much, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
That’s some serious pulling power. Great model. Hopefully I can bag one before they sell out. Great vids
Ya it is, but to be fair container wagons are pretty light so I sure it'll have no trouble in pulling a full length container trains that I have planned for it. 30+ wagons. You have to remember that as far as I'm aware they are doing nearly every single livery, so there will be plenty of other opportunities to get one. Thankyou. Glad you enjoyed it. 👍
@@mrmartinb1615 If they’re going to produce every single livery then they will cover the ones Bachmann bought out as exclusives models, hopefully they’ll not let modellers down with their choices, it’s a shame Accurascale are a lower volume manufacturer in a hobby where you should be able to pick up a model without it selling out because a quota has been achieved.
@@StormmyStormmy Ironically accurascale are making higher volume runs than both 'big boys' combined - this shipment of 66 alone is 10k units.
@@StormmyStormmy As fair as I'm aware, yes they are. I'm pretty when Hornby Magazine (Key Model World) interviewed Accurascale with a non- decorated class 66 running on thier layout that they were doing every variation....but would have to watch the video again to confirm that. I could be wrong. Ya totally agree on the 'low volume', but I'm guessing it's a better guarantee that they shift their stock with out it sitting around for long periods. But it wouldn't surprise me if Bachmann requires shops to buy a lot more stock, hence you have the stock on a more of a available basis, possibly 🤷♂️. Not that it's a bad thing. 👍
@@mccarronfamily Wow, 10k units. That is interesting to know..well it is an incredible loco. So glad they are doing higher numbers. 👍👍
Mine should come today. It's Exclusive Freightliner no.66415 You Are Never Alone
Congratulations....it'll be amazing 👍👍
Thanks @mrmartinb1615
Hi Martin, great review I got two of my four last week top draw from Accurascale pulling power cannot beaten you mentioned the detail have noticed the wing mirrors nice little touch cheers Al
Thank you so much 👍. I'm pretty so you won't be disappointed. Which ones have you ordered? I have three others and waiting on a fourth one. Lol.
To be honest that will pull easily double that. I'm planning on running full length container trains, 30+ wagons. Lol. Ya the wing mirrors are a real lovely touch, and it doesn't feel like they are going to fall off. Lol. 👍
Interesting video. I didn't get the Hatton's version after watching Peter Dixon's videos on the subject. He advised me not to buy one! You'll have to do a 'long term test' in a couple of year's time. How well will this model last? Will the motor burn out hauling all that weight? Only time will tell! Thanks for uploading.
Thank you. No thats fair enough. What was the main reason why you didn't get the Hattons 66? Wheel bearings?
Ya it would be interesting to find that out how well they last over a longer period, and as of the moment I have 5, we will wait and see. Your more than welcome. 👍
@@mrmartinb1615 The reason I didn't get the Hatton's 66 was that I decided to get the Hornby 4VEP instead as that fits my scenario. But that was delayed. I have now finally got it! The problem with collecting model trains is that every model you buy requires storage space, so you have to think very carefully about whether you really want it or not!
@@SussexHistory so very true 👍.
The windows are too big.
I would of never noticed. 👍
Got mine last week and I'm not impressed with the quality control in the factory the fact that it says on the instructions for non esu decoder that it's 1&3 switches off and use 2456 and after 1 hr of changing the switches around and eventually with one and two to off ended up going with 3456 to get it to work I have been onto accurascale about this and the fact the sugarcube under the pcb is rubbish Gbrf 66763
You need an accurathrash speaker if you want sound on board, the sugarcube is an 'add on' not a primary speaker - also accura support are online ready to help if you're having trouble understanding the manual.
@@mccarronfamily nothing to do with the manual bud was set up incorrectly from the factory on the board accurascale are aware of the issue with the board it's only a few it's happening on and if it's working on 1&2 off and 3456 on then it's fine for it
@@mccarronfamily I'm not going with accurascale own speaker looking at something from roads and rails
@@irishsixtysixfanGbrf66739 Each to their own :)
Sounds like a right night mare setting that up, sorry the hear that. To be fair I had to sort something out with Accurascale vai Accurascale Help via Messenger, (not to do with a loco) but other thing and they sorted everything out promptly. Hope you get everything sorted out.👍
How tricky is loosening the cabs to get crew in? Anyone..
That to be honest I never ever thought about, but I do want to put crew there. If I remember I'll try to have a look in the next unboxing. 👍
