Daniels smile is so infectious. Can't help but smile along while watching and feeling a weird sense of pride to have been here from the start of this crazy journey.
Hey Daniel, its Daniel here. When I saw 153334 I was sure that used to be the commuter train I used to take most of the time to Coventry from Nuneaton. When you said what route it used to go on I was dead chuffed! many times this got me back from work at Coventry when it was raining hard and i couldn't be bothered to bike it back to Nuneaton. I'm so glad your saving a bit of my past and it will be used for something awesome! I'd love to see it again sometime. if your interested I'm pretty certain i have some clips of it running in the 2010's or so if you want me to send them over. just to keep more history with your Loco...... all the very best bud! :)
If you are building a canteen on your new site why don't you keep all the train chairs and tables for that ,save you a few quid 😂😂😂 .❤❤ Love what you have become though Daniel so Happy for you .Hard work makes the Dream work 😊😊
Hi Daniel, Very pleased for you owning your own train. As a retired railwayman I appreciate your excitement. A couple of notes for you if I may. These trains are known as units and talking of which, you may have realised that one of the cab ends is smaller than the other, this because these Class 153 units were conversions from some Class 156 units which had 2 carriages. So by doing this BR wete able to create 2 powered train units out of 1 two carriage train. You were correct about the sand boxes, however they are only deployed in slippery rail head conditions to aid traction when stopping and also to aid starting from a standing stop. I used to drive the electric version of these but in my earlier Driver training days I did get to drive yhe Class 156 version from which the Class 153's were made. All the best with your new venture. Take care, Jon B.
Actually they were converted from class 155s, not 156s. I worked for Hunslet-Barclay at the time and we converted 35 sets into 70 single car units in 1990 onwards. Class 156s have always been 2 car units occasionally reformed into 3 car units. Never single car.
I totally understand the passion behind this project. The fact that he not only got his own train, but he ALSO is trying to keep it as a living monument for the railways. A lot of respect for that.
As an employee within the rail sector and a person who is passionate about the railway, it is so refreshing to see real industrial leaders are looking at rail to move their products. Keep it up and keep it RAIL!
So happy for Daniel, its going to look great. Loved the fact the video wasn't just about the train but he gave a whole history of the site and overview of the company. As someone not from UK I found this incredibly interesting.
Daniel.... Keep it in a rolling state, fully drivable - mainline ready.. you COULD then drive it from your sidings all the way up to Foxie's yard in Leyland - with a proper driver of course.... You could still refurb it as you wanted but keep the cab and safety stuff all in working order!😍 A small sliding spur at your HQ with a catch point can be it's home... But it must be able to connect to your loop to drive it in and out! You could embed the rail too, so road traffic can pass over it no problems.. You know you wanna! We still have things like this today, called Observation saloons.... So come on, I wanna be able to model the Asheville touring office!!☺️☺️☺️ Nice footage of D9009 too, love a Deltic!! Also: Sanders are for traction in slippery conditions, you wouldn't use them in good conditions 😉😉😉 You could even move it via rail, would be SO much more affordable than paying a haulage firm £10,000 to do it!! Brilliant video! Exciting times for Ashville! ❤❤
I've followed Daniel since the near start, what this guy has done is absolutely amazing and a credit to to the country and his family. Love this idea, I have a similar idea to try get my hands on old rolling stock not just to use for office space but to preserve for future generations to see as everything these days is scrapped.
I can't believe you've done that Daniel, saving a piece of railway history is fantastic, personally I'd try and keep as much of it as possible original.

All I can say: Kid in a candy store. Congrats! :) So ideas .... From the side that would face the fenceline on the train - instead of putting TVs everywhere, make the windows TV's. What you can then do is play a video of the train moving across the landscape - but edit with some ads, and houses you've built. That way when people go into the train, they'd kinda feel like they are on a train. Since they'd focus on the moving'ness - you also get to show off what you have done since you have their focus. Then, what I think would work is keep 2/3 tables and chairs - keep them on the side of the 'tvs' So you'd have the 1.5-2m of a gap. That also means when you go into the train, you see half train, half ashville for a real show. The side where you have the entrance to the yard - put a couple of short depth desks - or a long counter. You can then place, coffee water, magazines, sweets or whatever. So if someone wants to stand there is space, but you also keep the original feels of the train. I would max that at 3/4 of the length of the train - have 1/4 be a open area or an idea from your ideas. That gives them a journey whenever they enter ashville - a lasting impression which is a seller. Then what you can do is setup your C4 - people walk up to the 'entrance' - the one side door. use a motion sensor to open/close the doors - and switch on the lighting and scenes. - this can also trigger a notif and alert the staff to come through to collect or what not - they can also 'speak' on the 'intercom' like a real train to the guests. Then add some microwave detectors (more accurate to determine presence - so no one there, close entrance and turn off tvs/lights (efficiency) For me what I am thinking about is the experience, the feeling you get - which is also marketing in its own way (quite important). You make a statement when they enter Ashville They get to see the automations and systems for houses, they get to see your yard (the video you could play could be the train coming into and the unloading of the yard from the other side... even though its not there and cant really see it) Seats get recovered with ashville covers, floor could be a concrete floor (or fake concrete - weight) - building. Ideas :)

Trains are cool! My job requires shunting, coupling and uncoupling trains, i still think it's great. Glad you saved the 153 from scrap! Remember at night you can lock it out by closing the doors through the guard panel. During the day you can release the doors and then visitors can close and open the doors as they please. Such a great repurpose for an iconic unit!
Great re-purposing of a Class 153 Bubblecar. I would keep at least one group of four seats round a table, for meetings, coffee, recruitment interviews, etc., and as a reminder of the original. You could make it an occasional office by using smart glass panels.
i dont think ive seen anyone this passionate about a DMU, its genuinely infectious how happy you are about this. as a steam railfan in the states, well done t'ya. i'd recommend trying to make it more capable to make publicity tours so to speak, it can be a standard reception but with an easily removable interior for if you should want to take it to a site near the rails. i think some variation of option two would be appropriate for such a task, personally. dry rails and smooth running.
I love watching how you've built yourself and your company up, something I dream of doing one day but wouldn't know where to start, so your videos let me escape into that life for around 20 minutes of my day at the time. This one hit home, because I work on the railway!
This is so awesome. The joy of living out every train nerds boyhood dreams shines through so clearly. I do not think a better man could be blessed with success.

I used to be a Senior Conductor on 153334 when it used to work the line between New street and Rugeley Trent Valley, normally coupled to a 170 turbostar. Great to see it avoid the scrap yard
Nice to see how a train is loaded onto the back of a trailer to be moved by road. I saw an underground carriage travelling along the a40 over the weekend.
I've ridden on that Train a few times. My recollection is the heater works a bit too well. This video is probably my favourite of 2024. So inspiring. Mind you I was that same child in 1975 1980.
I can't lie, at first sight, I have liking for many UK trains externally with green livery, and this is one of those. It being a 1 carriage unit specifically (makes it feel that more special to me). For its green seats and other fixed/installed elements in the initial design process. I feel the green landscape brings it altogether in showcasing. Very much look forward to progress on this!
I love this video giving this class 153 a new life is a real labour of love ❤ you seem very excited about this and as am I, when I see those 150, 156’s and so fourth ready to be destroyed it’s depressing these trains have seen so much in there life ty so much for the upload I look forward to seeing more from this project! +1 🎉🎉 keep making great content Ashville!
It's incredible that you are saving one of these trains from scrap! The Class 153 trains were some of my favourites in the UK when in service, and the fact that some are still in service in Wales proves how robust and reliable they were. Looking forward to seeing the transformation.
Daniel, I love this idea of using this as a reception in the new yard. Saving it from the scrap heap is a great idea. Looking forward to seeing the renovation of it on ashville weekly.
As a long time (and I mean VERY long time) train enthusiast, I am so overjoyed that you are putting the lovely class 153 another use as they are rapidly departing passenger use in the UK after decades of use. They are absolute workhorses and a class I travelled on a lot growing up, so it's great that at least one of them is getting sent to a nice alternative use. But what a great afterlife you are providing it, especially if you do as you say, a full restoration on it! Edit: I am very jealous of this and would love to have a 153 craned into my backyard as either a man-cave or "clamping" type building.
so happy for you DREAM follow and hope. you got NEW land planning always ahead. so great to see. LIKE your business standards hard work the heartache of up and down nice to see you share. being the top boss getting the right people act.
Love the stand alone videos can't wait to see this project move along. Maybe get a 2nd carriage and that can be a gift shop for the Ashville clothing and gift range!
I believe this is one of the units recently retired from what is now called the Marston Vale line. It's near my childhood home and I used to ride it with my grandparents all the time. I've probably sat in one of the seats in that very train. Good memories.
My mum bought us this mad train set from hamleys back in the 80s . It went up the wall and on the ceiling it was some mad ting still. Miss the 80s . Good upload bro

So if someone wants to stand there is space, but you also keep the original feels of the train.
I would max that at 3/4 of the length of the train - have 1/4 be a open area or an idea from your ideas.
That gives them a journey whenever they enter ashville - a lasting impression which is a seller.
Then what you can do is setup your C4 -
people walk up to the 'entrance' - the one side door.
use a motion sensor to open/close the doors - and switch on the lighting and scenes.
- this can also trigger a notif and alert the staff to come through to collect or what not - they can also 'speak' on the 'intercom' like a real train to the guests.
Then for the other sliding door - add your access control on that, and staff can enter/exit no issues - but guests can't.
Then add some microwave detectors (more accurate to determine presence - so no one there, close entrance and turn off tvs/lights (efficiency)
For me what I am thinking about is the experience, the feeling you get - which is also marketing in its own way (quite important).

Well done Ashville, just realized you've smashed the 500k subscribers. Very deserved!! 1mil incoming!
👊🙏 Thank you
As a long time (and I mean VERY long time) train enthusiast, I am so overjoyed that you are putting the lovely class 153 another use as they are rapidly departing passenger use in the UK after decades of use.
Yess Daniel! Your happiness is infectious!
Well done Dan the man!! What a great achievement! Awesome stuff!

The universe loves this man...blessing
Love the excitement on your face with this Daniel! Your passion for what you do is a pleasure to watch! Can't wait to see the move and build out!
Option 2 I think is best, you could get some visitor hi vis jackets and obviously your ashville umbrellas in case it rains.
As a railfan, your love for trains and use of them in your business is amazing! Your enthusiasm is so contagious!
Got to love this man
I tip my cap in respect
Well done ❤
Fully deserved
You should be very very happy and proud
Absolutely amazing. You are an inspiration Daniel 👍 Love your content and efforts.
My mum bought us this mad train set from hamleys back in the 80s . It went up the wall and on the ceiling it was some mad ting still. Miss the 80s . Good upload bro
Didn’t know you liked trains so much. Awesome
Option 1 would be awesome ... keeping even just a few of the original seats in there would be a real nod back to the carriage's roots.
14:07 if i remember correctly the UK did sell some intercity 125 locomotives (class 43s) to mexico this year
I like this dude he doesn't flex $$ like regular RUclipsrs he actually has real business underneath him and obviously has worked his butt cheeks off...
Excellent acquisition, well done. I can see you are going to have a lot of fun with this
