The last quarter is my favourite and really fits into 3 waves: Wave 1: "Oh God, is this Girl Power?" Wave 2: Undeserved Confidence Wave 3: "Panic. They have specials now."

Honestly, I would have preferred that. It was pretty easy compared to the absolute horror that is inner agent 3. Without giving checkpoints the badge and title would be a lot more elusive and mean something.
you’re so lucky for not knowing the pain of splatting that last target a millisecond too late and having the last rail spawn just as you hit the water slightly below it. it happened to me twice.
I remember beginning to cry once I saw the launch pad take me not only to a new section, but one WITH TARGETS ON RAILS. If nobody’s every played Octo Expansion, there’s a level where you have to use the Bamboozler to pop 30 crates on rails and it’s torture. I thought I was getting to the goal, but I was only getting PTSD.
Not to mention the other painful rail level in this game (tri-stringer one wasn't the worst but the precise bamboozler one made me happy to have burst bomb)
@@flophawk Same, I just did it in two long sessions, the first one killed my brain because I just couldn't notice the row of balloons halfway through the third phase, but the second time I friggin' BREEZED through the whole level
octo expansion did just do it well. challenging to varying degrees, and not all stages are necessary to beat it. that way some of the extremely difficult ones are optional (fuck you girl power station).
I got the last part first try, but I had all the updates. I tried the kettle without ANY updates and aborted it at the last part after 2 1/2 hours. - No ink resistens, you are stuck on every pixel of enemy ink. - Short and slow shoting weapon, neither paint ability nor kill power (the missing range alone let you suffer at the second part, took me 1 hour alone). - And no subs that can realy help you out. Buddy is to weak and not help painting. After 4 hours of trying I decided to rather suffer in multiplayer. With no updates it's "almost" imposible and with all updates it is easier as Girl Power Station. At least for me. 🤷
I was sick while trying to finish this level and I’m not sure what happened, but I ended up dying like 30-50 times up until I hit the Octarian waves match. Fight or flight instinct must’ve gone insane because I cleared them first try and finally got to sleep after clearing the stage. Thought it was a literal fever dream until the next day’s snapshot library browsing.
4:58 is so valid, like you’re out the gate not knowing what to expect so you’re vigilant but once you know what’s up you start getting sloppy and it’s like this stage KNOWS that’s what’ll happen and it punishes you for it it. it’s also knowing you’re getting sent back to the start, not having gotten that first checkpoint like “well, there goes my progress.”
I thought it was really neat how in the last arena fight the first was was main weapons only, then second wave included subs, then third wave chucks in specials for each weapon type

I gotta say, this level is brutal, but by far the most fun level in the entire series. Even the unfairly difficult parts were a blast in my opinion, and finishing the level for the first time is the greatest feeling ever
These frequent uploads are amazing and there surprisingly not that rushed for how frequently they are. Honestly this just feels like a dream come true but I just hope alpha doesn’t burn him self out just keep up the great work
What I like about the last section is that they literally show you the end from the checkpoint. It gives you a boost of "I can do this" energy before destroying your pride. It isn't awful, but the amount of ways, even in the first wave, that things can go wrong with over-confidence cannot be understated. It's hard to keep enough of your ink around to allow for easy mobility. Or to dodge. Not to mention a few specials, the Trizooka and Jetpack in particular, tend to get you killed when trying to use them here. In fact I technically beat wave 3 twice. The first time however ended in tragedy when the last Octoling and I splatted each other at the same time.
@@darkmatter1721 Honestly after failing several times I simply stopped for the night. Took a break to come back with a refreshed state of mind. For Zone 4 that is. I didn't close the game and just put the switch into sleep mode. So I started from the Octoling fight. A few tries later and success was mine.
I spent a total of three days on After Alterna. I am not a gamer(tm), I am a casual RPG gamer who plays for story. Three days of my life well spent on getting the juicy lore I so desired.
I'm not even joking...doing this level set gave me a actual headache,but I powered through the physical and mental pain of all this to get...bear ear headband...worth it👌✨
I probably took longer to beat this kettle than you did. It took me almost 2 days to finish. Honestly, I expected the goal to be an abandoned room or lab and we get to see a tape how Mr Grizz became who he is now. But at least we get an Alterna log explaining Mr Grizz’s origin.
It took me way more than 25 deaths, but I remember the first time I made into the octazons and because I lost my shield way early, I decided to restart "the section". My surprise was that the "Start over" wasn't just for the section.
Honestly, after fighting Inner Agent 3, the final gauntlet being nothing but a difficult level was a relief. I sold my soul and all I got for it was a golden toothpick.
The best part about this is that chat had to convince him to do this level by saying that it would only take 30 minutes. it ended up being an hour and a half
Man, seeing how easily you nailed Girl Power's Revenge after spending multiple hours banging my head against that wall was simultaneously cathartic but also kind of infuriating.
I didn’t see any spoilers for this level so I’m very proud of myself for beating it a minute or so before alpha on my first try. I didn’t use any specials except for the splash down because the splashdown felt the most useful
I looked at the final octoling area of the level from a distance and I just immediately thought "oh shit this looks like Girl power station from the octo expansion" and I hate how right i was
It seems like Alpharad always just prefers to have fun, try his best, and lose, instead of grind his heart out, perfect his runs, and not have fun. And I think that’s a really good and healthy mindset to have.

5:28 God damn, I never thought to just stay above in safety and ink it all. I even knew the ink stayed on, I just kept jumping from one to the next until it felt safe enough to move on, and the first part was BY FAR the hardest part for me (although I did have to quit out from the second part, because I never upgraded my Hero Shot and found that part insufferable without said upgrades).
True, I think the rail part was easily the worst, it feels luck based. The shot RNG of the Splattershot mixed with the low fire rate of the no upgrade hero shot means that if your gun decides to screw you over and miss shots, you'll lose. This means that the level is basically luck based, since even if you aim perfectly every time, you will still miss some shots, so you have to overcompensate for this and sometimes it'll take an extra shot to take down a target.
@@babywizard9027 Pretty much exactly this, yes. Between that and the first section having zero checkpoints for no real reason, I was prepared to hate this level, but then when I finally got past those two parts, the third and fourth sections went smoothly and were, dare I say it, fun.
What I like about this collection of 4 levels, is that it’s frustrating, but it’s not unfair. Level 1 was easy, level 2 was frustrating, level 3 was easy again, and then level 4 made me want to throw my controller. I died less than 5 times for levels 1 & 3, and less than 10 times for levels 2 & 4, so it wasn’t the hardest thing in the world
tbh i like having a difficult final boss AND a really really difficult final level if the final boss doesn't take you at least a few tries, it's not gonna be that rewarding to beat it then the true final level can be for anyone who wants to squeeze out the last drops of fun from their game
Section 1: This was tough the first few times. It took me a while with trial and error to get through Section 2: People said that this was a nightmare. I beat it first try. Section 3: Easiest section for me. Smallfry is pretty good at diverting attention. Section 4: If you thought fighting a hyper Agent 3 that is somehow always 3 steps ahead of you was tough, this is pretty much on the same level, especially Wave 3 when most of the walls to keep you safe from the barrage of specials are removed. A fully upgraded Smallfry really helps in this section, especially since he can instakill the Octolings.
I attempted this course over 20 times and I legit was on the verge of tears when it came to final stage. It took me about 8 tries to finish the third stage.
As a former stick player the platforms and rails were EZ, but Girl Power 2 was hell. Had to turn on motion controls PERMANENTLY and learn in shark infested waters for that last fight. Came out a World Champion, feel good/bad man
It hurts my soul seeing someone do this with only 25 deaths. This took me an entire day to complete and probably well over 100 deaths. Stages 2 and 4 took me ages to complete. GG Alpharad.
Just a tip for the last part. If you get to the second part of the fight you can kill all but one and pick up the canned specials if you pick up enough to get to zipcaster two armors spawn. You can then kill the last octoling and have better odds at the last part.

The last quarter was definitely the most difficult. I grinded it so much that I found out that when the specials cycle to zipcaster, there is armor on the pillars for you to grab.
Yeah I love these kinds of levels but between darker side and this I have not beaten a single one of them! Got pretty far for only getting the game a few days ago tho...I think... Edit: yeah I never got pastthe part at 3:40 , been there like 4 or 5 times, didn't know there might be a Checkpoint there tho! 5:50 happened to me too!
My only bragging right is that I beat the final phase first try, but you getting all the balloons first try at 8:22 is way more impressive, I kept missing those on my attempta
fun fact squid surge heavily reduces the speed which you fall on a wall, you can use it on the platforms to make it easier. Another thing is that splatter bombing the wall before climbing it in the last part of the first area can really save you
Finally, someone that suffered the same time I did it but I had an error while fighting at the face 4 and had to do it all over again so I played the first level at least 30+ times until I could beat it again so yeah I'm proud of myself after trying 2 days in a row that beautiful level
I have a tip for the octoling level, (I already beat it) I recommend to charge up your special at the start. You should also try to keep your armor there as long as possible. When there is 2 or 1 octolings left charge into them. Also try to kill/break the wave breakers, rollers, and tenta missiles.
I like watching him in the first section not pre-ink before jumps, not killing enemies before he jumps over there, not hiding in his ink to recover health faster... And then just jumping RIGHT INTO the rotating brick walls. Confident he could handle it on the fly? Hubris.
I can't believe he struggled so much on the first section and then just flew through the rail portion. I made it through the first checkpoint on second try, but the rails... god the rails messed me up.
Fun fact: failboat referred to that snowball Effect as the “super meatboy clause” where the more u want to get to the spot you failed at the more you fail at the easy stuff

When I unlocked the special level, I did a practice round just to learn the first area. When I sat down to actually beat the full thing, it took me ~5 hours~ and 3 of them were just spent in the arena. It felt very rewarding to beat it.

Splatoon 3’s main story just felt like the perfect level of difficulty, but I’m glad they added a Champion’s road style level for the experts, too.
It’s absolutely the tilting that makes it so tough.
I did my run in shorter bursts and coming in fresh helped a ton.

Part 1 of After Alterna is definitely the hardest with you traveling across a large map with no checkpoints is evil, all the rest was so much easier

5:28 God damn, I never thought to just stay above in safety and ink it all. I even knew the ink stayed on, I just kept jumping from one to the next until it felt safe enough to move on, and the first part was BY FAR the hardest part for me (although I did have to quit out from the second part, because I never upgraded my Hero Shot and found that part insufferable without said upgrades).
True, I think the rail part was easily the worst, it feels luck based.
The shot RNG of the Splattershot mixed with the low fire rate of the no upgrade hero shot means that if your gun decides to screw you over and miss shots, you'll lose.
This means that the level is basically luck based, since even if you aim perfectly every time, you will still miss some shots, so you have to overcompensate for this and sometimes it'll take an extra shot to take down a target.
@@babywizard9027 Pretty much exactly this, yes. Between that and the first section having zero checkpoints for no real reason, I was prepared to hate this level, but then when I finally got past those two parts, the third and fourth sections went smoothly and were, dare I say it, fun.
A really difficult final level is always so cool
What I like about this collection of 4 levels, is that it’s frustrating, but it’s not unfair. Level 1 was easy, level 2 was frustrating, level 3 was easy again, and then level 4 made me want to throw my controller. I died less than 5 times for levels 1 & 3, and less than 10 times for levels 2 & 4, so it wasn’t the hardest thing in the world
Seeing alpha miss the first checkpoint twice purely out of impatience/panic was painful
tbh i like having a difficult final boss AND a really really difficult final level
if the final boss doesn't take you at least a few tries, it's not gonna be that rewarding to beat it
then the true final level can be for anyone who wants to squeeze out the last drops of fun from their game
Alternatively, we can do it like Kirby (And Odyssey, though granted that TFB wasn't that hard) and have a True Final Boss
Section 1: This was tough the first few times. It took me a while with trial and error to get through
Section 2: People said that this was a nightmare. I beat it first try.
Section 3: Easiest section for me. Smallfry is pretty good at diverting attention.
Section 4: If you thought fighting a hyper Agent 3 that is somehow always 3 steps ahead of you was tough, this is pretty much on the same level, especially Wave 3 when most of the walls to keep you safe from the barrage of specials are removed. A fully upgraded Smallfry really helps in this section, especially since he can instakill the Octolings.
I attempted this course over 20 times and I legit was on the verge of tears when it came to final stage. It took me about 8 tries to finish the third stage.
As a former stick player the platforms and rails were EZ, but Girl Power 2 was hell. Had to turn on motion controls PERMANENTLY and learn in shark infested waters for that last fight.
Came out a World Champion, feel good/bad man

With how simple all the platform designs are, I'd love to see a "splatoon maker" where people could make their own campaign levels.
there's a few decent mods that make custom campagins for splatoon 2, a few people have done videos on youtube for them

It hurts my soul seeing someone do this with only 25 deaths. This took me an entire day to complete and probably well over 100 deaths. Stages 2 and 4 took me ages to complete. GG Alpharad.

Just a tip for the last part. If you get to the second part of the fight you can kill all but one and pick up the canned specials if you pick up enough to get to zipcaster two armors spawn. You can then kill the last octoling and have better odds at the last part.
This level was HELL for me, especially the rail section and the final part.

The last quarter was definitely the most difficult. I grinded it so much that I found out that when the specials cycle to zipcaster, there is armor on the pillars for you to grab.
I actually didn't know that, though I did memorize every spawn location

Yeah I love these kinds of levels but between darker side and this I have not beaten a single one of them! Got pretty far for only getting the game a few days ago tho...I think...

My only bragging right is that I beat the final phase first try, but you getting all the balloons first try at 8:22 is way more impressive, I kept missing those on my attempta
fun fact squid surge heavily reduces the speed which you fall on a wall, you can use it on the platforms to make it easier.
Another thing is that splatter bombing the wall before climbing it in the last part of the first area can really save you

I had to relearn motion specifically for the ballon section. I got close, almost beat it, but my skill issue was too large.
Finally, someone that suffered the same time I did it but I had an error while fighting at the face 4 and had to do it all over again so I played the first level at least 30+ times until I could beat it again so yeah I'm proud of myself after trying 2 days in a row that beautiful level

I have a tip for the octoling level, (I already beat it) I recommend to charge up your special at the start. You should also try to keep your armor there as long as possible. When there is 2 or 1 octolings left charge into them. Also try to kill/break the wave breakers, rollers, and tenta missiles.
I like watching him in the first section not pre-ink before jumps, not killing enemies before he jumps over there, not hiding in his ink to recover health faster... And then just jumping RIGHT INTO the rotating brick walls. Confident he could handle it on the fly? Hubris.
I can't believe he struggled so much on the first section and then just flew through the rail portion. I made it through the first checkpoint on second try, but the rails... god the rails messed me up.

what made them think checkpoints were a good idea in a champion's road/darker side type level
When I unlocked the special level, I did a practice round just to learn the first area. When I sat down to actually beat the full thing, it took me ~5 hours~ and 3 of them were just spent in the arena. It felt very rewarding to beat it.
Nintendo really looked at inner agent 3 and said "yeah, let's make 'em fight multiple of those"
I actually went to watch back the vod for once, when I saw it wasn't in the last Splatoon video. That stream sure was the experience x)

Good tip to beat this section is to spam ink before jumping onto the platforms
The ink doesn't wash away in water so it's an easy way to not fall behind
