A fun thing to think about is that In Japan, Mr. Grizz is overly nice (cultural difference, bad/sketchy jobs tend to have bosses that mask themselves as overly nice or something) so his teddybear face probably matches mover there.
7:21 cant believe alpharad says the reason he is enjoying splatoon's idol music is due to a vocaloid phase and then proceeds to say his fav producer is Mitchie M. I have no idea how they sound the same, considering Mitchie is known for his realistic tuning and splatoon idols just be a gargled bop

I got flashbacks when I saw that electric goo pattern during the Big Man fight, but I'm also super happy they made a Mario Sunshine reference there. Big Man is objectively the best addition to the series
The Sunshine manta-ray actually jump-scared me lol, I was that dumb kid who loved sunshine sucked at it and was quickly gated from progression by the sand bird and manta-ray (I was also actually afraid of it, so that made it even harder to try to fight). So despite having played Sunshine many times since then, this video has confirmed that i still fear it deep inside
Here's a fun little detail: After you beat the story mode, the Radio at Grizzco turns from a bear eating a salmon into a big salmon eating a bear. Also: I thought the "so you dont have to" titles are for bad games.
Octavio NOT being the main antagonist of the installment, and actual stakes that has the world depend on the heroes is definitely the step in the right direction. But it feels like Nintendo scratched the surface for this one as much as the DLC did. Not bad, it’s actually extraordinary for a story about friendships, music, and the mystery of life and I’d like to see more for S3’s DLC.
47:40 I was rewatching for 5th time and realised: because Alpha did it as a stealth mission, it's recognised by the game, and it's so cool that this is one of the little details of the game.

Grizz isn't a bad villian, but honestly I feel like they could have saved him for some sort of DLC. I also think it would've worked better if he was more closely tied to the humans, like if he was an AI made by the last scientist and... hey, wait a second.
@@grinklesnorf3475 I'd actually fully 100 percented the hero mode, including Shel-Drone, whenever I wrote this, and while my opinion has changed a bit since then, I still think Grizz fell a bit flat. From his build up that was a bit lacking, and the fact that the salmonids and golden eggs aren't really explained, I still don't hate Grizz, his main problem is just that he had to follow up Tartar's act and couldn't quite reach the bar he set.
I love how Agent 3 has become sort of the Solid Snake of this series. She's ALWAYS there, and she's gone from the dubious player insert to an idolized legend
I don't know what Nintendo is on, but they've been making the end sequences of their games so hype in the Switch years. Octo Expansion, Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, the new Kirby game, Metroid Dread, THIS GAME... Please keep doing these.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that the final boss was just Sonic Adventure 2. In space, on a strict time limit to stop the boss from crashing into the Earth, with the gameplay focused on approaching the boss so you can target vulnerable growths on his body, while dodging obstacles that knock you back. Little Buddy even absorbs the power of the Chaos Emeralds so he can go Super Salmon.
Oh that's interesting, I thought mr grizz just de-evolved him. I wonder if they put him in the alternan waters would he slowly go back to the way he was? Considering whats in the water there I feel like it might be possible
This game is great outside single player (although this definitely was the best base game story mode out of all 3 games by far). If you feel like you'll like a fast paced, movement heavy shooter then I'll think you'll like this game especially since a lot of the balance changes on launch fixed a lot of the problems from 2. Also you can kill people with a washing machine :) -Sincerely, a Sloshing Machine/Slosher main
I still think the one thing that holds this story mode back (and Splatoon story modes in general) is because they are very reluctant to put the actual narrative in the levels themselves. Sure you have the cutscenes and dialogue in the hub, but the actual levels feel like they don't contribute. This was something the Octo Expansion was able to work around, sort of: Every level either had dialogue revealing something new (for example, you learn from Marina that the sanitized octos don't have vital signs, which is something you wouldn't be able to know on sight) or the mem cake which told you more about *you* as a character. Here, any in level dialogue basically goes "woah they're fuzzy????" which is something you can know by looking with your eyes, and all the Alterna logs focus on the lore of what happened instead of the story that is happening.
I agree. I’ve heard some people say that there are plotholes and while I wouldn’t go that far there definitely were a lot more questions that the story mode made than answered. There are also those who are upset that Mr. Grizz was actually a bear, but at the same time Splatoon has always been very on-the-nose and in-universe the Inklings and Octolings had no reason to think that Mr. Grizz was actually a bear. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game was rushed a bit along with COVID complications, and if the DLC story answers some of the questions this story made. That’s not very ideal I’ll admit, but Splatoon 2 really didn’t go deep into the Octarians (especially Marina) until the DLC Octo Expansion so it isn’t all that surprising to me.

@@Xenotale Ah, i see
The fear Alpharad has thinking little buddy was going to die is hilarious
1:06:09 "Yeah, that's a-.. That's a booyah moment if I ever saw it"
Literally when you go back into Alterna after beating the game, you get a cutscene with the Squidbeak where the Captain Booyah's at you (and of course Callie did a hell of a "Booyah" just moments before this, I know xD)
Add THAT to all the other times Alpha was right about things happening later on, and just.. how?? o.o
I have no idea how they sound the same, considering Mitchie is known for his realistic tuning and splatoon idols just be a gargled bop
id say they have pretty similar vibes though besides the vocals
ive been obsessed with vocaloid since around 4th grade and just the mention of vocaloid made me smile
fun fact: the splatoon vocals are done by actual singers, it's not vocaloid
@@e-lrd6904 vocaloids are sourced from actual singers too!
@@walnut_raisin2621 no i mean the actual gibberish that you hear in the songs is sung like that (minus voice filter) by actual people, they just sing the songs and then a voice filter is added
Alpha’s Vocaloid phase is something I never expected but am VERY happy about
Yeah same

And feeling good ...
I got flashbacks when I saw that electric goo pattern during the Big Man fight, but I'm also super happy they made a Mario Sunshine reference there. Big Man is objectively the best addition to the series
Nah lil buddy supremacy
15:23 "You either fight god or go to space." Bayonetta 1 you do both.
Therapist: Sunshine Ray boss isn't real, it can't hurt you
Big Man:
6:07 I love how he made the salmon run connection based on something that had technically been there way before salmon run, lol
1:06:35 The shear terror and sadness in his voice when he said that.
Even though this man has 2 million subscribers, I still feel his content is underrated lol
You're right, he deserves more than 2 million subs
Coming up on 3 million
I wouldn't say that

Here's a fun little detail: After you beat the story mode, the Radio at Grizzco turns from a bear eating a salmon into a big salmon eating a bear.
Also: I thought the "so you dont have to" titles are for bad games.

This is unironically the happiest I've seen Jacob while playing a videogame in awhile
But everyone should play the story mode it's full of bangers and is easily some of the best gameplay ever
47:40 I was rewatching for 5th time and realised: because Alpha did it as a stealth mission, it's recognised by the game, and it's so cool that this is one of the little details of the game.
"Its not that I hated that level, its just that my therapist will hear about it." Relatable
I love how unfairly overpowered your little buddy is it’s hilarious 😂
And that's the version that ISN'T upgraded all the way, he two shots most enemies when he's fully upgraded. We love Little Buddy in this household!
@@InemuriOkami it’s funny he gigantamaxs and takes on a giant killer bear in space and is the reason why mr grizz didn’t destroy dj Octavio’s ship so without the buddy the main player would probably have died multiple times
I think that genderless androgynous society might be kinda a vibe, everyone can dress without pressure ya know
24:34 fun fact, all of site 6 (other than the boss) is completely optional, and on my first playthrough i only did 2-3 levels per site on the other sites (only reason was for power eggs)
You don’t even have to play any of the levels for power eggs, it’s possible to farm eggs in the overworld alone, though it’s tedious.
Learning alpharad is not only a vocaloid enjoyer but a mitchie m fan as well is probably the highlight of my month
I spent the entire game avoiding hair death because I’m horrified by it. Of course I get the bad ending when fighting Grizz for the first time.

"This game feels like Portal 2"
I recently replayed Portal 2.
I agree. I think the twist on the final mission reminded me of stuff they did in Portal? And just overall the test chamber puzzle vibe
you know what's the difference between portal and splatoon ? one finally got the trequel (if you can call it like that) and man i'm happy to make a half life 3 joke even tho it's old af, anyways have a good day
@@GammaJyx I would love a Portal 3.
I used to like half life more but after playing portal 2 I just want portal 3
Just want to say, I gave my Little Buddy the Karen haircut and so having it fight Mr Grizz, Manager of Grizzco, was way to funny and fitting.
7:05 and just when I thought I couldn’t love Alpharad any more than I already do 😭
Alpharad casually predicting the final boss and how stuff is related in the very beginning
For the (at least) fifth time
He did not predict the last boss at all but eh close enough
Grizz isn't a bad villian, but honestly I feel like they could have saved him for some sort of DLC. I also think it would've worked better if he was more closely tied to the humans, like if he was an AI made by the last scientist and... hey, wait a second.
I was honestly thinking the whole game that ORCA was just Splatoon Glados in disguise
You should read all of the alterna logs then! They give plenty of backstory for mr grizz that i think will satisfy you
@@grinklesnorf3475 I'd actually fully 100 percented the hero mode, including Shel-Drone, whenever I wrote this, and while my opinion has changed a bit since then, I still think Grizz fell a bit flat.

@@mikhailshaw7030 Honestly, I'm seeing fewer of this particular bot than I have of some others. Still reporting it, though.
This is awesome but would have been more awesome if it was "I didn't play Splatoon 3 so you have to" and it was a threat

Mitchie M is one of the best vocaloid producers.... never thought i'd hear about him in a splatoon video
If you’re worried about cuttlefish, he’ll be fine. That’s just what happens to inklings when they dry out. (According to the manga)
Oh that's interesting, I thought mr grizz just de-evolved him. I wonder if they put him in the alternan waters would he slowly go back to the way he was? Considering whats in the water there I feel like it might be possible

The story mode is the least amazing part of this game which is saying smth so go get it!!!!!
This game is great outside single player (although this definitely was the best base game story mode out of all 3 games by far). If you feel like you'll like a fast paced, movement heavy shooter then I'll think you'll like this game especially since a lot of the balance changes on launch fixed a lot of the problems from 2.
Also you can kill people with a washing machine :)

That spike was insane.
Bro why did you write a whole ass essay the project ain’t due until next week
@@moosesues8887 because i like this thing and as such i have many words to say about this thing rather than just one word
@@moosesues8887 yeah Kirby did this stuff where the surroundings told a story or tell you something happened
