The sugar gets clogged in the fuel filter, which starves the engine of fuel. If it were to somehow get into the pump and injectors, it would likely clog those up as well because it doesn't dissolve in diesel fuel, and the injectors have EXTREMELY tiny holes that sugar grains cannot pass through. If some jackass dumps sugar in the tank, you'd have to replace the fuel filters, clean the inside of the tank, bleed the fuel system (Unless it's common rail injection), and it should be fine after that.
People who claim Thomas the Tank Engine is a brainless baby show have clearly not seen season five. I mean what other shows has an engine fall to its death or nearly being incinerated?
Believe it or not, the movie was supposed to be completley different to this version, it was going to be longer and there was supposed to be 2 villains
I feel bad for this movie, the test audience was the problem In the original script there was supposed to be 2 villains 1 of course being diesel 10 but then there was PT boomer, Diesel 10 originally had a Russian accent which was actually pretty funny but the test audience deemed pt boomer and his plot too scary, and diesel 10 racist.
Actually, the Russian accent was the first change. Diesel 10 was originally gonna have a deeper, more villainous sounding voice by a completely different actor.
@@sydneyslaughter7163 considering Diesel 10 was a bullheaded prick embodying extremism, it was somewhat... distasteful in many eyes. Especially since Chernobyl was still fresh in many minds 14 years later. Point is, it was considered a little too edgy for a kids movie at best and uncomfortable at worst.
Lol, trains don’t pro-create, they’re built. Even Thomas characters. Also, Alec Baldwin narrated Seasons 5-6 of TTTE. Probably why he played Mr. Conductor.
No matter what anybody says about it, this movie was the most magical thing I experienced as a kid, and it’s one of the most nostalgic things for me to come back to.
I'll show my nerd card, but... the original Railway Series books and the early seasons of the TV show were almost entirely based on real historic events on railroads. The Skarloey Railway is almost a complete carbon copy of the real life Talyllyn railway for example. Rev. Awdry even wrote an extensive lore book "The Island of Sodor: Its People History and Railways" the explained everything from pre-Christian pagan cult worship on the island, how the island was caught up in the various wars between England, Scotland and Wales over the years, the birth of industrialization, the construction of the railroads, and how the North Western Railway was formed over the years. Oh yeah, and also the Satanic cult that used to exist on the island too. Its bonkers, and an insanely intense lore volume that tried to shove Sodor into a historical fiction setting were "this is what maybe would have happened if this island really existed off the coast of Britain and how it changed British history." When Thomas meets the queen it is meant to be THE QUEEN, not some fantasy royal but Elizabeth II herself since Sodor just exists as an extension of Britain in the original books. The railway stories are almost verbatim ripped from trade magazines and historical journals, or first hand experience. The TV show though early on proved it wasn't going to be as much a stickler for reality as the books were, and the TV show runners ran into this when Rev. Awdry sent them man angry letter for the episode "Henry's Forest" explaining that an uncultivated forest so close to the tracks was a violation of very specific British Railway rules, that he could quote... and cite; and that he was ashamed the show based on his books would make such a flub in realism. Let me say... its a good thing Awdry was well dead before Magic Railroad came out. He probably was turning in his grave to see his Sodor become a magical realm accessed by magic coal dust...

@Ethan Schmid There you go! To bad the Nostalgia Prick isn't aware of how underrated this movie is. I can't believe how ignorant and how much of a newbie he is to Thomas the Tank Engine.
Thomas was hardly ever brain dead. It had good morals, memorable characters, a very lovable charm, and actually hold the Guinness book world record for most amount of train crashes in a single show. Yes, it gets pretty destructive when it wants to be. although I will admit your commentary is hilarious.
(1:50) I see Nostalgia Critic is fond of Mister Rogers. Can't blame him. He's a legend. Also, this is pretty much the first time I heard him sing, and damn, he's a pretty awesome singer!
1. Alec Baldwin was in this due to being the present American narrator of the show. 2. They made the movie from the show's rise in popularity in the 90's. 3. Their mouths didn't move from it being too expensive to make it, so they made their eyes jester for them. 4. His name is Diesel 10! Not diesel. 5. Junior is Mr. Conductor's cousin, not his son. 6. Britt Allcroft, the show's creator, wanted to have the movie cross over with Shining Time Station, the show made to introduce Thomas and Friends to the US. 7. The movie was heavily cut due to uneeded complaints from American test audiences which made the movie what it was. All of this was revealed by Britt Allcroft in 2008, which led to most of the information about it being revealed at the same time you were making your review. 8. The show isn't brainless, it was based off the book series by Rev. W. Awdry and Christopher Awdry showcasing what railways of Britain were like and showed realism in their stories to childreth. 9. The show was never made cheaply, making the models and sets were so expensive that Britt Allcroft had to mortgage her house to make the very first episodes, you really need to look up behind the scenes footage and photos online to see what I mean. 10. Thomas and Friends is a great show, if you want to see what made this show great, watch seasons 1-7 and 17-21, seasons 8-12 are mediocre and seasons 13-16, 22 are bad.
I've got seasons 1-4 Another RUclips channel is currently doing a series on the actual versions of the engines given the Island is actually a table top model of a railway and, as you said, all the characters are actually models of real British steam engines. They have the faces glued on and constantly changed for different frames on the show. They probably did the same for the movie. According to the RUclips series, most of them have been scrapped. Only two real Thomas engines remain, one in a museum and one at an amusement park somewhere in London.
@James Vanderlin I agree everything you said. What really pissed me off about this review was Nostalgia Critic calling the show "brainless" despite never seeing the show. It's like me calling "Teen Titans Go! To The Movies" a worthless cash grab without actually even seeing it. If you haven't seen the show, and haven't done research on it, you can't judge it or make an opinion on it. I haven't read a lot of Marvel comics or any of the Harry Potter books, but I'm not gonna judge them and compare them to their film adaptations. That's stupid. I have done some research on the source material, and know a few things about them.
This is all the things he missed in this review. I'm fine with Doug not seeing the show first, but he should at least do research, instead of passing it off as "Thomas The Fucking Tank Engine".
You act as if Alec Baldwin is too big for Thomas the Tank Engine! Its Alec fucking Baldwin! I think I saw him in an infomercial last night at 3am selling some copper oven pan!
DUDE! THAT IS NOT DIESEL. THAT'S DIESEL 10! Stop calling him Diesel; Diesel is a totally separate character. Diesel (the only diesel named Diesel) has no claw, like all the other diesels. Only Diesel 10 has a claw, that's why he's the scariest diesel. And the only person Diesel 10 is scared of is Mr. Toppemhat. Yeah, I know that stuff. Don't ask why.
I hadn’t seen this movie in like a decade but what I remembered was that I LOVED IT! So much that my parents got me the board game! Yeah THAT exists even though after watching this and realizing how BAD it was it still holds a very special place in my childhood. So long Sodor I’ll remember you fondly
Thomas the Tank Engine made up pretty much 90% of my childhood; but I was confused as hell when seeing this for the first time at goodness knows how young, mainly due to wondering where the usual narrator was.
i watched the original. :) it was called shiney time station vs thomas the tank engine. Goerge carline was the conductor for YEARS. the women in the film was on the original show as well. it was pretty good. this how old the show was. I'm 32, i was 7 when it was out if not younger.
Yeah I dont like that. My brother used to watch the old old version with the theme song with no words. Some narrated by ringi starr and others were narrated by some guy I forgot the name of. Then he watched the new brighter version that would come on pbs kids every saturday morning where they had that one catchy theme songg I still remember all the words to unfortunately.
I liked this movie as a kid, but even then I thought the magic bits were a bit fucked up. Also, SODOR IS NOT IN ANOTHER DIMENSION. IT'S A PERFECTLY NORMAL ISLAND OFF THE ENGLISH COAST. Not to mention that while Shining Time Station was the sort of "wrapper show" for Thomas an America, this movie was the UK's first view of Shining Time Station. So it made no sense at all to us.
The "wrapper show" version with the US actors was a staple of my childhood! I really loved it even though I bet it made literally no sense. We did have Ringo Starr and then George Carlin as the Mr Conductor character.
It's my favorite children's show because I love the characters, stories, themes, narration, music, world building, the sets, and how it made you feel like you were on the Island of Sodor.
Hey! At least the original Thomas the Tank engine had epic crashes in some episodes! Not to mention Alec Baldwin was a narrator for the show before this movie.
This is a crossover movie, between Thomas the Tank Engine and the Shining Time Station, looks like you don't remember as much as you think you do. Shining Time Station was also a PBS TV show, just sayin.
shining time station was how they introduced thomas to american audiences, this movie was how they introduced shining time to british audiences. What the hell is this? said many a confused british person old and young.

As a kid I never cared about Thomas but as an adult and with the rise of the Internet/RUclips I became invested in Thomas and the many YTP's and many parodies but of course the whole lore. This movie (plus review) goes to show that people who never watch Thomas have no idea what they're missing.
When i was a kid, i thought Alec Baldwin eating carrots and celery was one of the most awesome things i've ever seen. Today, i eat them both all the time and am generally healthier than i was back then. Up yours, critic.
theganon111 ... Dude, why did you say "up yours, Critic"? He was making fun of the awkward scene, not the fact that you need to eat vegetables, which you SHOULD have been doing to begin with.
Thomas was my childhood too. My mother even found season 1-3 on DVD for my son when the show originally ran in Britain before it was aired in the US and Alec Baldwin began narration. I had to find a muli-region player in order for the discs to work.
The TV show was originally released in Britain in the early 80's and the Island of Sodor is actually a table top model of a railway. Alec Baldwin starting narrating when the show began airing in the US which would make sense that they would cast him as Mr Conductor. They also brought Diesel 10 and Lady back in later episodes of the series after the movie was released. Both the movie and series were my childhood although I never knew Baldwin sang the Shining Time song.
Actually, Ringo Starr and George Carlin narrated the show in the US before Baldwin. In fact, when Carlin took over as narrator, he also re-recorded all of Starr's episodes.
Fun fact: the reason why this movie is bad was because of the test audiences. For example they had to change the original voice for Thomas because the audience thought he sounded too old. Nuff said
This movie was bad because it had bad exposition, based itself on a plot that poorly used the island of Sodor and shining time, and was overall not a fun movie. The test audience didn’t change the movie that much

As someone who grew up with the show, I loved the movie though now being older I definitely can agree with some of the points made in this review. Though if I can add something, rewatching some of the scenes with diesel 10, which would scare me as a kid, Diesel 10 is a riot! Just listening to the voice acting with every scene with diesel 10 in them just sounds like the voice actor (Neil Crone BTW) is putting so much effort and is having so much damn fun with it! After learning about the voice over practice in the past couple years I can say that with the delivery of the lines and constant giddy laughter, it just sounds like he’s having an absolute blast voicing diesel 10. Reminds me of Vincent price in the great mouse detective when he played ratigon, just giggling, joking and laughing all the way. We may not get the inner beast released like ratigon at the end of great mouse detective but considering the movie (Thomas the f***ing tank engine) I still find myself laughing at all the cheesy jokes/puns, old McDiesel, and liking his lunch steamed just seems to never end and I love it. Anyone curious look up diesel 10’s scenes from the movie and I imagine there’s gonna be one that’ll have you smirking because of that energy coming from the voice acting.

Believe it or not, the movie was supposed to be completley different to this version, it was going to be longer and there was supposed to be 2 villains

Oh yeah wasn’t the 2nd villain supposed to be named boomer or something

I feel bad for this movie, the test audience was the problem
In the original script there was supposed to be 2 villains 1 of course being diesel 10 but then there was PT boomer,
Diesel 10 originally had a Russian accent which was actually pretty funny but the test audience deemed pt boomer and his plot too scary, and diesel 10 racist.
Actually, the Russian accent was the first change. Diesel 10 was originally gonna have a deeper, more villainous sounding voice by a completely different actor.
A Russian accent was considered racist? That’s... really unusual.
@@lorddrayvon1426 Yeah so they changed it to a New Jersey accent... because I guess no one gives a shit about my home state lol

Lol, trains don’t pro-create, they’re built. Even Thomas characters.
Also, Alec Baldwin narrated Seasons 5-6 of TTTE. Probably why he played Mr. Conductor.

Agreed
Soooo true
Have you seen Season 17-21

@@NashmanNash I mean, my comment is literally talking about being in a theater
10. Thomas and Friends is a great show, if you want to see what made this show great, watch seasons 1-7 and 17-21, seasons 8-12 are mediocre and seasons 13-16, 22 are bad.
it's thomas the fucking tank engine
I agree with you about everything but season 21 sucks

Another RUclips channel is currently doing a series on the actual versions of the engines given the Island is actually a table top model of a railway and, as you said, all the characters are actually models of real British steam engines.

The TV show was originally released in Britain in the early 80's and the Island of Sodor is actually a table top model of a railway.
6:30 FINALLY he said something that's actually true about Thomas
yeah this is more of a rant than rewiew
14:32 I thought this movie was kid friendly....
Rainbow Brush The Nostalgia Critic said "Normally, I'd say that was by accident, but it's Alec Baldwin. He knew what he was doing."
KeeferJ 1995 That can be also intrepreted, that Alec knew the middle finger is the longest finger. Which makes sense, seeing that he needed to reach the scissors.
Juhani Aho I know Alec Baldwin wasn't giving the finger to Diesel 10, and I knew what he was doing.
Rainbow Brush, the movie is rated G after all.
Josh Montemayor I know.
This movie is the guiltiest of pleasures for me, I know it makes no sense and I know it has a dozen flaws and crazy moments, but GODDAMMIT THIS WAS THE FIRST MOVIE I WATCHED IN A THEATRE, I LOVED THE SHOW GROWING UP AND NOW THIS MOVIE JUST MAKES ME LAUGH TO SEE HOW DUMB IT CAN BE YET...nostalgic

Fun Fact: The town of Shining Time and a few characters (I don't know who) are from a show called Shining Time Station. Think about it.
Hunter Nelson Gordon Henry James And Edward and maybe Thomas I think
Is this a crossover? Oh boy...
It’s a crossover by the same person. Britt made Thomas in the UK, and made Shining Time Station in the US.
this review is absolutely fucking magnificent. I literally spewed my tea all over the laptop when I watched it all those years ago... today I drenched my phone with Irn Bru and Apple Crumble.
