- Poultry farmers always point out one problem i.e. high rate of SBM (DOC) and recently (March 2021) rate of SBM is drastically high to about 80% and industry leaders predict this may still increase. Depending on single ingredient for protein (all over world) is the sole reason for this high rate. It is time for us realize that, we need to have more choices in protein ingredients especially one with locally available in order to run the poultry farm smoothly and profitably throughout the year. Dr. Sathya Sooryan has explained nearly 20 different ingredients available locally which could be used in poultry feed to partially replace SBM and which will help farmers to reduce the usage of SBM in feed and make a huge savings.

I want to start a piggery in our area I want your help to formulate pig feeds of various types with the things available in our area . We have plenty of maize and groundnut cake is available in three forms. Rice bran and broken rice is also available.Now I need your help to give me a formula with these things freely available here. Welcome,
Feed formulation is done to best of our knowledge based on the inputs you provide to us. The more accurate information you provide us more accurate will be the feed formulation for your farm (information like accurate ingredient proximate composition, cheap ingredient available at your locality, quality of feed additives and other ingredients etc.). Best result of the farm is an outcome of absolute combination of feed + health of birds + genetic potency of birds. Accurate record of all these parameters is necessary as a minimum criteria to asses the efficiency of feed alone by keeping every thing constant and by changing feed alone. When a Nutritionist formulate feed for a new farm (with proper record of previous feed formula and other parameters) will get a better result than the farm with poor record, where nutritionist needs to try one or two formulation and management practices to get the better result.

Protein percentage needs to be analysed from lab as we it's variable in percent
