📖 Follow along with the official Catechism in a Year Reading Plan (AscensionPress...)
Together, with Fr. Mike, we arrive at the “nugget day” or summary for the Catechism paragraphs on the Resurrection and the Christian vision of death. Fr. Mike emphasizes that in the face of death, we must not grieve as though we have no hope. He also points out the importance of preparing for the hour of our death. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 1012-1019.
Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.

Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 5/18/2023
I am not afraid to die because I know who my Lord and Savior is. This was an awesome section. It keeps me on my toes.
The most powerful and most important part of the catechism!
Oh Lord Jesus Christ save us from the second death!!
Note to self "If you aren't fit to face death today, it's very unlikely you will be tomorrow" - so powerful. Live today as if it is your last.
Death is the end of man's earthly pilgrimage. There is no reincarnation after death. The time is now to prepare ourselves for death. Lord, give me the grace to repent.Mother Mary, prepare me for the hour of my death. St. Joseph, grant me a happy death. 🙏
Amen🙏❤️

I love that quote. I’ve not heard it before.🙏❤️
So many emotions,so much wisdom and also comfort are here today. Thank you Father Mike for bringing this to us and explaining it so well. May God always be with you and keep you strong. Also, may God have mercy on all who meet Him today. That is a little prayer I keep under the glass on my desk at school.
Still as wonderful 2nd time round. Thank you Fr Mike. Praying for you and everyone here. God bless🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
O Blessed Joseph, who died in the arms of Jesus and Mary, obtain for me, I beseech you, the grace of a happy death. In that hour of dread and anguish, assist me by your presence, and protect me by your power against the enemies of my salvation. Into your sacred hands, living and dying, Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I commend my soul. Amen. ❤🙏❤

Simple but so powerful sentences. God bless you @Elizabeth Wilson 🙏🏻
Agreed. I try to understand, but still wonder how we will look before our bodily resurrection. ❤️
Loved, " can't wait to see you tomorrow " after that days reflection...prepare for death but be prepared to live too😁🤗🤩🙏🙏🙏😇
Prepare and Pray! Don't rush death because it is final. Don't give up your will to live. Keep a vigil with Mary and and the Sacred Heart. Pray to St Jude. I hope and pray that you make it through every night. Things I learned in the past year.

Our Lady of Medjugorje quotes“Little children, pray until prayer becomes a joy for you. Only in this way each of you will discover peace in the heart and your soul will be content. You will feel the need to witness to others the love that you feel in your heart and life.”❤️🙏❤️

Day 138
What an emotional episode....
Every action of yours, every thought, should be those of one who expects to die before the day is out. Death would have no great terrors for you if you had a quiet conscience....... *Then why not keep clear of sin instead of running away from death?*
If you aren't fit to face death today, it's unlikely you will be tommorow.....
-- Imitation of Christ
"Our Choices in this Life, will ECHO for All ETERNITY"...Wow! Very Powerful Day Today!! Thank You for Fr. Mike!
I think one of the saddest consequences of the abortion decision is knowing that not only 50 million babies lost their lives, but how many future generations have been destroyed. How many people like Steve Jobs? How many people that would have become great Popes or great priests, like Fr. Mike? How many people that would have had the opportunity to be Saints that the world will never know? Indeed our choices will echo for ALL ETERNITY. 🙁
This is an incredible lesson today . I hope that this makes a difference for me starting now. I am praying for all you
Father Mike as hard as it to believe I am in the Grace of God.
On my deathbed, I want to be able to hold my rosary and fear nothing. Meantime, I’m gonna keep saying my rosary every day and also say : “O my Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner. Amen.”
A friend texted me a bit ago to pray for an elderly Catholic woman we know that is dying soon - the lesson today was so appropriate to pray for her 'at the hour of her death.' Amen
Such a sobering thought. This may be my last day. There are brothers and sisters who will die today. May we live with hearts open to you, pliable to your loving hands. ❤
I hope nobody listening died today... My rosary intentions today will include our entire group. 😔
Day 138..! Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death..! WOW..! New meaning..! 🤩🤩🤩 I CANNOT WAIT TO hear you tomorrow. I am praying for all of you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Please pray for me. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 God bless. ❤❤❤

“Those who fear the Lord will be happy at the end, even on the day of death they will be blessed.”

I used to fear death.. but the more that I immersed myself into my Catholic faith & began to know more about the Trinity & Mary & Joseph, I then felt that fear of death drift further & further away, as I was now becoming more aware of how I was using the gifts that God had given me, conducting my life in a more meaningful & religious demeanor. I do recognize the fact that when my head hits my pillow that I might not awaken the next day & I pray before I go to sleep that God leads all souls to heaven esp those most in need of Thy mercy! Amen!
I pray for all of our CIY Community & for Fr. Mike!

Those would be such beautiful words to hear when we stand in front of our All Merciful Just Judge. That’s been my prayer too.🙏❤️
"Today will be someone's last day" - very sobering thought and definitely words to ponder - Memento mori “remember you must die." I try to practice this every day, not in a morbid way, but just to keep me living in the moment and aware of the choices I make. It's a very calming practice and really helps you leave all your worries at the foot of the cross❣
Thank you, Fr. Mike!

I am listening to the podcast this year, one year after it came it. It has been very good, but the section today and the last couple days on death have been especially impactful for me. I nearly died about four years ago and am very fortunate to be alive. And yet, I still don't feel ready to go. I worry about the earthly future and put my own needs and wants ahead of God and other people.
Prayers for you all and for those nearing death. Lord, have mercy on us.
Accidents happen too. Lord, have mercy.

(According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory.)
The Prayer of St. Gertrude
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

Praise be to God who gave His only begotten Son to save us! Glad we only have to die once. There is a short list of those who died twice, Lazarus for example. Bet he was not afraid the second time!

Thank you Father.
Since a young child death has terrified me. It drains me mentally and physically. Because of the fear it makes me feel like I don't believe or have faith in Christ when I know deep in my heart I do. But the fear remains. I don't know why I am so scared..I know I shouldn't be. But why do I still fear it? Its frustrating..
I tried speaking to my grandmother (was the most wonderful catholic woman I've ever known) about it when I was a child, but she just softly giggled and calmly answered with.."everyone is afraid...the older you get? you won't fear it anymore.."
@@churchesmaxiumuschicken7558sk Jesus to take away your fear. Ask Him to replace it with perfect love. Perfect love casts out fear. God bless you, in Nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritu Sancti. +Amen
Remember: "Fear profits nothing."
@@churchesmaxiumuschicken7558 Your grandmother is correct. I too feared it very much, especially when my son was a child. I was worried about his upraising. Now I'm older and most of the fear has dissipated. I mostly think now about living my life the way the Lord wants me to and accomplishing whatever mission he has for me up until my last breath. God bless you. Will pray for your peace 🙏
I love the name you’ve chosen for yourself on here! When I was young, my father used to say he was going to go to church, (which he did every week), but at those times that he was just kidding and needed his chicken fix, he was going to Church’s Chicken. 🐓🍗🐔

Lord Jesus Christ Son of God Have Mercy on me, this sinner
9:27 St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of a happy death because he got to die in the presence of Jesus the Son of God and Mary the Mother of God. A happy death is one in which we have been reconciled with the Father. We have lived our lives in such a way we can praise God for His grace, forgiveness, and mercy in a way that He can say "well, done, my good and faithful servant. Come and receive your Master's joy."
Praying for St. Joseph's intercession for everyone here. God bless you all.

Day 138 takeaways: With death, life is changed not ended. We do continue to grieve death, but we must not grieve as those who have no hope. When this Earthly dwelling returns to dust, an eternal dwelling is made ready for us. Death is the end of man’s Earthly pilgrimage and the end of time we had the opportunity to conform our will to God’s will. There is no reincarnation. Our choices in this life will echo for all eternity. A happy death is one in which we have been reconciled with the Father. With every Hail Mary said, we prepare for death. Every action and every thought should be of those who expect to die before the day is out. Be ready. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow.
