Had to watch it twice, but this is incredible gut to give it a try, although I’ll try something more simple, until It seeps slowly into my brain cell. Fantastic post, this really will get me out of the rut I’ve been in for a while now.
I love the analogy of using words and sentences to form drum patterns. I'm looking for to implementing this exercise to my daily practice. However, can you please write out the 3rd word for me. I think i am hearing it to be: RLR RLL RRL LRR L. Is that correct?
Hyper relevant, excellent ideas. Seems to me people need more of this kind of teaching, not prevalent enough. It's funny this mirrors almost exactly what I've been telling my younger beginner students recently, almost down to the same words. I wish I'd seen this earlier ! 👍👍
**SORRY, WITH AROUND 30,000+ HOURS, I TELL EVETONE THE SAME THING (and never had a reasonable reply) practice practice bla bla, is the 1 and only 1 way to become a good Drummer (with flow). Like a lot of drummer's who claim to have that "Pro's Secret" to Break that Bad Habit or Strengthen your weak hand or Just whatever else they are trying to sell. Just Practice, Play to a LOT of Music, and Focus. But most of all, have the Time of your Life with your Kit.
Helpful video BUT if you aren't going to write the sticking on screen, then please speak slower and repeat often. I still don't know what the third word is - so it's just been a waste of time for me.
Valid criticism. However I used video speed control in youtube and context of the video to "deduce" that it is as following: 16 Triplets, 3 8th note counts(beats) Rlr rll rrl
