Last year our 6 yr old son was diagnosed with luekemia. He's been through so much and being quarantined from his buds makes it worse. He just had his 2nd bjj lesson last night. I haven't seen him so focused and determined in awhile. I can't wait to see what this training does for him.
I’ve never seen anything like this but it looks like a great way to learn strength and self control. When you’re frustrated, you can’t just punch them in the face, you have to keep control of your body and mind and decide what to do next.
Them kids are monsters already!!! Butterfly guard, tons of sweeps, hard attempts but as they get older they are going to be forces to recon with. God bless them!
Impressive skills. I train BJJ and I've noticed that the kids (their class is right before the adults) often display a surprisingly high level of physical competence. Probably their natural flexibility makes a lot of moves easier for them as opposed to us 30 and 40 and 50-year-olds.
These kids are hella decent. Their ability to slip in and out of the guard, and go right for head control is awesome. Whoever is teaching them is doing a great job. If he’s releasing entire classes of kid this skilled, bullying will disappear within a generation.
My 4 kids (2 girls and 2 boys) went to their first BJJ class last night. All of them LOVED it! It was the talk of the night! So cool to see these gray belts go at it.

No, they're gonna learn restraint and discipline. They will know to "defend" and "protect" not attack. All good teachers will help you diffuse a situation rather than escalate it. If you have to use your training you already lost.
@@samuraifis I literally just saw news about a black belt that used his training to restrain a criminal until officers arrived at the scene. He (the black belt) obviously wasn't charged. I have no idea where you're getting this opinion from.

The world is not getting more quiet and peaceful that`s for sure! Therefore Jiu Jitsu is an absolute essential! Especially for the next generation! Every kid should practice it in my opinion for their own safety and confidence and just life lessons in general!

I’ve been wanting to start jiu jitsu for years but the closest gym has been an hour or more away and wasn’t feasible with work and a family…until now, we have a gym opening in my town next month. Super stoked, and my 3.5 year old wants to go too….not sure he’s old enough yet but the coach said he lets parents decide if their kid can do it as long as they can follow directions he’s good with it…so we’ll see!
That is very nice! Starting training some BJJ games with your kid at home and he will be ahead of the curve. It is very hard to find a good school for little ones.
@@jiu-jitsu we have been working on wrestling for about 6 months now hoping to get him interested for the youth wrestling program at age 5 and he’s all about it so when I showed him this video and asked him if he’d wanna do it he was like “YEAHHHH!” Makes a dads heart proud lol
@@vonnyharyanto9050 I dont think it would be bad for him since he will be training with kids his age. And if the coach doesn’t say it, you should say for him to not use it in school or with his friends. Just because 4 year olds normally are really hyper in a way. But yeah you should definitely put him in some classes just for him to try.
This is amazing to watch, i love watching these types of videos. i take Taekwondo classes. But these are impressive of how these kids are controlled and only doing it with there feet body and hands
Yes, in BJJ submissions and competition are allowed for kids as young as 4 years old. But they don't learn how to break an arm, just learn how to position themselves. In competition the referees do not wait for a tapout- they intervene when a lock is on.
Their skills are very impressive I love doing BJJ and seeing young kids benefit so much from it is extraordinary and makes me proud to be a tiny part of this brilliant community
I used to go to a bjj gym and train sometimes too. There was this one kid (he was 17) he used to fart LOUD when we were rolling, he farted consistently like every 10 sec. It STUNK so bad every time too, like rotten eggs. That was crazy
My five year old likes to fight me, and I am often surprised at how strong he is. I showed him this video to see if he would be interested in taking it up and he seems interested. I think he'd really take to it.
I want to get my son started. He’s an athletic and smart kid. He’s short for his age and so far he hasn’t been bullied, but I want him to go into HS and beyond with confidence. He isn’t excited. Do you see that with beginners?
JJ was designed for the small, weak. Not the big knuckle head type of person. This is very common because usually kids don't know what's best for them, but parents do. I have many parents clients that mandate their kids to train whether they like it or not. It's like medicine, or even better: Like vitamin.
My kid is 6 and has been doing BJJ for just over a year - none of his class is remotely even close to this level. The instructor is great with the kids and they all love him and listen to him, but this video makes me curious if the kids in this video are way above the curve, or if my kids class is way behind. They generally spend 15 minutes playing a strategic game, then 15 minutes drilling a technique (e.g. mount escape, single leg take down etc). They never really learn it properly, but you can see with the passing of time they get better and better at things as they come up time and time again. They could certainly never put a lot of moves together and roll in the way the kids in this video are doing. Am I taking him to the wrong place, or is the above an unrealistic expectation for most kids? I don't need him to be superadvanced or anything, but I would hope that after a couple of years he would at least have a degree of bully proofness.
It sounds like you are in a good place. The kids in this video do BJJ for a little over 2 years and one of them is an active competitor. My school is geared towards competition so there may be some clear differences. In the other spectrum, a great majority of BJJ kids classes are very recreational with games, etc. This is because the instructors are still figuring out what to teach to kids safely and they have a slow approach that slow the potential in term of competition even in the one against one aspect inside the school - which is also always competition as we spar to win.
The International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation holds official competition for kids starting at age 4- not saying your kid has to compete but just an indicator where the sport starts. There are several technical restrictions that keep it very safe. Look for a school that has a strong kids program.
Do they have bones? Really though they’re gonna be nasty on the mats. The constant collar holds are great. They both know how to turn it into a advantage though.

The only issue with bjj is that it has no striking meaning that if its a fight against an opponent they will strike. This is why you need a striking art first then move on to a grappling art if you wish to do so
