@@GlenShannon That must've been fun! Of my middle school and high school bands, we never played anything this style. Well, I still have half of a year, so never say never. I'm also the only person at my school who plays organ, let alone loves playing this old stuff.
@@NoahtheEpicGuy It was taller than me at the time and I sat on a riser with the instrument on the next riser down. But I learned to read bass clef at concert pitch as if it were treble clef with a different key sig, which still comes in handy playing some sizes of recorder. Organ is crazy, I can't coordinate my hands beyond a certain level, let alone adding feet!
It's easy to see why many expert thinks this was not composed by Bach. It's almost ridiculously simple. Bach in his teens was already composing vastly superior works.
Yes, but can you play it more musically? Perhaps you can, but music - like the best things in life - isn’t always a race. At the same time, variations in interpretation of a work are what keep “serious” music interesting….so, it’s all good! 😊
The prelude was played at my wedding 24 years ago.
Absolutely beautiful playing of a wonderful musical score. Thank you for posting this!
The beginning of the penultimate measure always gets me. I never see it coming. Lol
on the prelude or the fugue?
My band director in Washington D.C.introduced this piece and we loved it I was the TUBA/ bass line in1964 still strikes a chord LOL
I've played this piece many times, but I've never heard it performed so slowly.
Is it easy
@@LanderCortes-g3c As Bach compositions go, yes. I play it about twice as fast!
@@michaelhoerig5920I’m learning prelude in C major bwv 553
@@LanderCortes-g3c Great! Any of that collection are great musically and pedagogically. Stick with it!
@@michaelhoerig5920 I also playing this song called liturgical improv no 1 it’s not my Bach but it’s a nice prelude

Sometimes playing it slowly gives more expression to music. Sometimes, it depends.
