Mymom and Dad were born and raised in Venice CA. They were there in the 50's-70's until they moved to Utah. SO they lived there during the early days of the Doors. That was when Venice was going from WW2 suburb to the Artsy Hippie culture. Venice will never be the same now.
No one who has never been to Los Angeles knows what its really like. Apart from tent city we think its so glamorous. I'd love to move there as a welsh guy!
Jim Morrison lived 3 house's down from my godparents when he lived on main st in VENICE. And Canned Heat lived on the corner down from my grandma house . By the way it's the MORRISON HOTEL

I,ve some pictures from paris ( Rue Beautreillis in Le Marais) where he lived with Pam at nr 17.I was able to get in the hall of the building and went cold all over.Been everywhere in Paris to look for the places he has been: r&R Circus,rue Mazarine (where he was supposed to be dragged out and put in a taxi),Rue de Seine ) All on the left-bank). I can't go to Paris without thinking of this band,thinking of Morrison: i,ve never understood why i could not be at ease in that city.Been they're with 3 of my 'loves' who neither understood: for me it's a pilgrimage i think, Jim and Ray rest in peace:Doors;Best American band ever

The cemetery where he rests is actually very beautiful e peaceful and it gives me a great feeling of relief and you can sense his energy! It's a must do for any true fan of The Doors. Ever since I saw the movie many years ago, I always wanted to go there and find his grave exactly the same way the camera does in the movie and although I was a bit disappointed to find out that the statue of his face long gone...it's still tremendously powerful to find for the first time his gravesite.

I'm sorry to ruin it but Jim Morrison didn't really sleep on the roof of the Morrison Apartments, he slept on the roof of the Waldorf, a few houses from that one. He also stayed in a building on Breeze Ave where Paul Roddell, the landlord at the time & friend let him sleep.
